Visited in June 2022:
Decided to go for some Western cuisine and drinks, so we headed to Kurattini. I've always wanted to go there, so it was a great opportunity. It's located on the top floor of the Dohjima Leisure Building, where I used to go often in the past. The clientele varies from older ladies to younger people, so even as an old man, you can feel comfortable here! We started with a glass of champagne and since it was still early, we opted for the course menu. The course consisted of 7 small dishes, with a choice of charcoal-grilled meats and pasta. The dishes included bacala, mascarpone and caviar, scallops with potato sauce and Akita jun-sai, straw-grilled horse mackerel with salsa verde, sweet potato and baby leaf, whale and ginger tartare bruschetta, caramelized figs with foie gras terrine and marigold, smoked conger eel and cheese spring rolls with summer truffle and burdock root puree, wild asparagus risotto with tuna prosciutto, Aso red beef Chateaubriand, and pasta with moon bear, wild boar, and duck ragu. Starting with the classic bacala and mascarpone with plenty of caviar, it felt like being in Kitashinchi. The champagne glass emptied quickly, so we enjoyed the wine with a glass according to our preferences. From the charcoal-grilled scallops and jun-sai potato soup, to the straw-grilled horse mackerel with salsa verde, the aromas and combinations were wonderful and made us fall in love from the start. The knockout dish was the whale tartare, so rich and delicious! The foie gras with summer truffle sprinkled on top of the spring rolls with smoked conger eel, the tuna prosciutto with a subtle flavor of caviar, the luxurious wild asparagus risotto, it was all so extravagant and the wine kept flowing, making it a delightful experience. For the main course, you could choose between French duck, veal, or Aso red beef. But once the Aso red beef was mentioned, it was hard to consider anything else! When eaten with freshly ground pepper, the richness of the red meat spreads beautifully. And for the pasta, how can you think of anything other than the game meat ragu? Rich and indulgent, it called for more red wine! It has the charm of Kitashinchi, but the master also provides attentive service while serving the dishes, making the atmosphere very pleasant. With delicious wine and outstanding food, there's nothing more to ask for! I would love to drop by for some à la carte options next time. The special events also seem fun, making it a wonderful restaurant that makes you want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
