The chicken skin is famous, and I usually order around 10 pieces at a time, but I prefer chicken thigh over chicken skin ❤️ Chicken skin and chicken thigh are both popular items and may sell out, so I recommend ordering early when you want to eat them❗️ The drink options are limited and the food menu mainly consists of skewers.

During my second visit to Fukuoka this year, I went to eat yakitori in Kashii with my sister. This restaurant had temporarily relocated under the elevated structure of Nishitetsu due to the redevelopment of JR Kashii Station, but now it has returned to its original location. It had been about 10 years since my last visit. The interior of the restaurant is brand new, but the original atmosphere remains. It was around 5:30 pm on a weekday, and the counter was full of what seemed to be regular customers. We sat in a private room. The specialty of this place is "torikawa" (chicken skin). We started with three pieces of torikawa each, as well as pork belly, gizzard, and minced meatballs. The torikawa came on a large plate with cabbage. It was much more delicious than the one I had at Hakata Station recently (this is just my personal opinion). The pork belly, gizzard, and minced meatballs were also delicious. We also ordered some vegetables - raw green peppers, shiitake mushrooms, and "darm" (chicken intestines). The darm was lightly seasoned with ponzu sauce, and it was deliciously refreshing. Lastly, we added three more pieces of torikawa each. It was a delightful meal.

They used to have a shop under the elevated structure near Nishitetsu Kashii Station, but they moved to their current location about 100 meters away, possibly due to relocation. I think it was about two years ago. It's a popular restaurant, but I had never been to the previous location. The main reason was that my wife didn't like yakitori much. When I peeked inside, it always seemed busy, with the counter seats so close that you could almost touch shoulders with the person next to you, creating a lively atmosphere. I felt a bit out of place. After the move, I used their takeout service once. On that day, my wife was busy and feeling tired, so she just wanted to eat regular yakitori. We ended up at Gombei somewhat randomly. We visited on a weekday just before 7:00 PM without a reservation. The restaurant was almost 70% full, but we were seated at the counter where there were partitions and enough space between seats, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Looking at the menu again, I noticed they only had 24 types of yakitori dishes - a very slimmed-down menu. We ordered a variety of items (11 in total), and my wife especially enjoyed the chicken skin yakitori, eating two skewers and praising its taste. The other grilled dishes were also decent, maintaining an average level of quality. The chef quietly cooked in front of us without unnecessary chatter. Sometimes you just want to eat yakitori in this kind of atmosphere. It seems like a place where you can come alone without any issues, so I'll add it to my list of restaurants to visit when my wife is not around. The restaurant was bustling with a full house, but the noise level was not overwhelming, allowing us to enjoy our meal in peace. The bill came to 4,430 yen, cash only. Thank you for the meal!

There is a restaurant called "Gonbei" in Kashii, established in 1968. It has no official name but is known as "Torikawa." It was run by Mr. Koga, and used to be located at the forefront of a shopping street before relocating near Kashii Station. Many people believe that this Gonbei was the origin of "Torikawa," which started at Yūsen-tei. Even the head chef of "Hakata Torikawa Daimin" reportedly worked at the Kashii branch. The restaurant is always bustling with locals. They specialize in tender chicken neck meat, prepared over several days to achieve a crispy exterior and juicy interior. Their chicken wings, at 280 yen, are particularly delightful. Other menu items include chicken skewers (110 yen), pork belly (120 yen), sausages (110 yen), thick tofu (250 yen), minced meatballs (100 yen), pork intestines (90 yen), and tomatoes (200 yen). The quality remains consistent and delicious, so be sure to give it a try. "Gonbei" in Kashii is a must-visit establishment.

Earlier, the men from "Tomeha" moved on to a nearby yakitori restaurant called "Gonbei" near Nishitetsu Kashii Station. They started with draft beer and highballs! They enjoyed various skewers such as chicken skin, gizzard, chicken breast, pig's feet, intestine, chicken thigh, green pepper, cartilage, and fresh shiitake mushrooms. It's amazing how the food changes from one restaurant to another. It was past 9 pm, but the restaurant was still bustling with many customers, making it seem like a popular spot in Kashii. It had been a while since I last ate in Kashii, and it seems like the area is about to undergo some significant changes. I look forward to exploring Kashii again soon.

On this day, I met up with my high school friends for a year-end party at Nishitetsu Kashii Station, and we went to this yakitori restaurant. I think I had been there about three times before. We had made a reservation so we were seated right away, but the counter was full and it's a popular place. Their specialty is "torikawa" (chicken skin), and I ate about 5 skewers by myself. The "pork trotters" are cheap and delicious. The "chicken thigh" is also cheap and delicious. The "gizzard" is cheap and delicious too. This restaurant is really affordable and tasty. I definitely want to go back again.

First visit. As soon as I entered, I saw the chicken skin and thought "Oh no...this chicken skin is not what I expected. I prefer the normal crispy sweet sauce. It's too spicy and chewy. If you eat too much, your numbers will go up. The place was surprisingly crowded, so I sat at the counter. It's so cramped. The staff seemed busy, but when I called out, they said they were just taking notes. I wonder if it's really delicious, it seems like something you can find anywhere... I didn't quite understand the secret of its popularity. It felt like a regular udon place. I wish I had gone to a Fisherman's udon instead. You can sit and chat leisurely there. The atmosphere really makes a difference, doesn't it?

The chicken skewers and pig trotters are delicious! I want to try the chicken thigh next time. The service by the young staff was a bit disappointing, but not to the point of being unpleasant. I will definitely go back again! ✨

With 20.9.42 people, it was just over 7,000 yen. The chicken skin for 120 yen was especially delicious. The chicken thigh yakitori for 750 yen was also good. The highballs were generally strong. The arrogant attitude of the young staff was a bit off-putting.

The chicken skin is crispy with a slightly spicy soy sauce flavor. The grilled skewers are very delicious. It's a shame that the menu is limited, but it's become a tradition to have a quick drink here before moving on to the next place for rice dishes or noodles.

ToGo is back. "Gonbei" at Kashii, near Nishitetsu Kashii Station under the elevated tracks... Since the pandemic, there have been a few food trucks set up here, and in one corner, there's a tent with "Gonbei." This used to be a temporary location for Gonbei. They have a store a little further away, but now they have returned to this spot with a tent. The menu options are limited. When you think of Gonbei, you think of chicken skin... They warm up 5 pieces of chicken skin for 130 yen, so you don't have to wait long. The crispy texture is just great. The chicken wings are 320 yen and they warm these up lightly as well. Oh, by the way, I spotted a Gonbei bike. It looks like it says "Gonbee," but it doesn't really matter. ●Shop Information Gonbei Fukuoka City, Higashi-ku, 2-51-3-1 in front of Kashii Station.
