I was shocked when my favorite "Spicy Tantanmen Specialty Shop Koshin Spice Noodles" near Fukushima Station moved to Amagasaki. Recently, a new Tantanmen shop opened, so I decided to visit. The exterior stands out with green and red colors. It used to be where the Chinese soba Mutahiro Osaka Fukushima store was located. It seems like a revenge move from the Michelin Bib Gourmand award-winning ramen shop "Tantanmen Specialty Shop DANDANNOODLES.ENISHI" in Kobe. I remember there was a fish Tantanmen and Chen Mapo Tofu place called "dandannoodles" in Fukushima. The noodles for the Tantanmen here are thin. Besides Kobe, they also have branches in Tokyo's Gotanda area, and this time they opened in Osaka, near Fukushima Station. A branch was opened on December 27th. They offer Tantanmen (900 yen), Rich Tantanmen (980 yen), Spicy Tantanmen (980 yen), Chicken White Broth Tantanmen (900 yen), and Spicy Chicken White Broth Tantanmen (980 yen). I ordered a set of Tantanmen, rice, and 2 pieces of fried chicken (1150 yen). The toppings included meat miso, onions, watercress, cashew nuts, fried onions, and pickled shiba. The onions were not spicy at all, but rather sweet. Recently, pickled shiba has become a default topping for Tantanmen, which I personally love. You can choose from no spice, mild, medium, and I chose medium. The noodles are thick flat noodles. The balance of Sichuan pepper numbing sensation, chili oil, chili peppers, and sweet and rich sauce is excellent. It's a Tantanmen with a perfect balance that is addictive and delicious! It has just the right amount of junk food feel, which makes it appetizing. On the table, there are orange vinegar, bonito vinegar, and exotic vinegar, allowing you to enjoy the flavor changes until the end without getting bored. It was delicious and satisfying! If there were a few complaints, it would be that even at medium spice level, it was not very spicy, so I think many people might find it lacking in heat, so I wish they would increase the spice levels. Also, while the sauce coats the noodles perfectly, I personally prefer thicker noodles. Next time, I'll go for the Spicy Chicken White Broth Tantanmen. The fried chicken had a thin crust but was well-seasoned and juicy. I left feeling full and satisfied. Thank you for the meal. Rating: ☆★★★★: I want to go again.

Lunchtime in Fukushima. It's hot and I feel like eating something spicy! I decided to visit a well-known shop that serves soupless tantanmen that I had bookmarked. This shop is a branch of a popular soupless tantanmen shop located near Iwaya Station, which has received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. The exterior had a bit of a cheap Chinese restaurant vibe. I arrived before 11:30 am, so maybe that's why there was only one other customer inside. You purchase tickets from a machine, and you can choose the level of spiciness for the soupless tantanmen - none, small, medium, or go for the mala tantanmen. I chose the mala tantanmen to counter the heat. Upon entering the shop, you are assigned a seat. Despite the Michelin recognition, the interior was a bit underwhelming given the popularity of the Iwaya shop. After a while, the dish arrived. It took about 8 minutes. It was generously sprinkled with chili peppers, with watercress, finely chopped onions, cashew nuts, and pickled radish visible underneath. I mixed it all together. The flat noodles were well coated with the sauce. The flavor of the nuts was noticeable, and the texture when chewing was enjoyable. However, I didn't feel the spiciness. Of course, there was some spiciness, but as someone who likes spicy food, I was left wanting more. If you choose the regular tantanmen in small or medium sizes, you can add spiciness levels from 1 to 5 for free. I don't think the level 5 spiciness exceeds the mala tantanmen... The dish wasn't bad, but it lacked the expected spiciness and numbness. On the flip side, it had a good umami flavor and was enjoyable for most people. Feeling a bit unsatisfied, I enjoyed changing the flavor with seasoning vinegars - bonito vinegar, exotic vinegar, and orange vinegar. I personally felt that the bonito vinegar added umami, and I liked it. I remember that when the shop was in Nishiohashi in the past, the dish had a bit more punch in terms of spiciness. If they advertise it as mala, I would have preferred a stronger kick of spiciness and numbness. Maybe it's just right for those who like moderately spicy food?

On July 8th (Saturday) and 9th (Sunday), the Noda-Fukushima Genki Bar 2023 Summer event will be held. Enjoy the gourmet food of Fukushima and Noda at this event. With exclusive bar menus, you can visit multiple restaurants at a discounted price. Enjoy the food and drinks of Fukushima and Noda and have a blast this summer. I had purchased a set of 5 advance tickets for 4,000 yen online (on-the-day tickets are 4,500 yen). On the 9th, I visited the fifth restaurant, ENISHI Osaka Main Store in Fukushima 5-chome. Their message was: "Addictive! A specialty shop serving the ultimate tantanmen made with 32 types of spices. With the pride of winning the Michelin Bib Gourmand, each bowl surprises the taste buds. Enjoy the blissful moment of rich aromas and deep spices dancing in your mouth." The bar-exclusive menu included Mini Tantanmen, Chinese Chicken Nanban, and draft beer. The Mini Tantanmen was particularly cost-effective and delicious. The restaurant had a line forming by early afternoon. The dish was well-mixed with minced meat miso, cashew nuts, fried onions, watercress, pickles, and raw onions. The spiciness of the raw onions added a nice touch. The Chinese Chicken Nanban was juicy and topped with a tangy sauce, tartar sauce with coarsely chopped boiled eggs, and chili oil. It was incredibly tasty when combined. After finishing the meal with beer, I felt pleasantly full. Next, I will be visiting Patisserie Croche. Enjoyed the meal!

The tantanmen is visually appealing and has a strong spicy flavor. The wide noodles and variety of toppings provide a delightful mix of textures. The level of spiciness and numbness can be adjusted. It reminded me of the tantanmen I had at Soko-Unyu, a restaurant I visited in the past.

During my time working in Kobe, I used to frequent the main branch of Iwaya. It's incredibly delicious! When I visited the first location in Osaka, Fukushima (the previous store), I was a bit disappointed. It felt somewhat different compared to Iwaya in Kobe. But this time, I didn't feel much discomfort. Maybe the noodles are different? Or perhaps it's the way they're cooked? Other than that, it's almost the same as Iwaya. However, they should really make the tables cleaner. They felt sticky. This is an area that needs improvement. I will definitely go back though.

I visited the ENISHI restaurant owned by President Shimada, who also has a YouTube channel. I arrived at around 6 pm and found that there was only one group of customers inside, so I was seated right away. I didn't notice the ticket machine at first, so I sat down and then purchased my meal ticket. In addition to the tantanmen noodles, there were also a variety of izakaya menu items available. They all looked delicious, but since it was late for lunch, I had to pass on them. Next time, I want to visit on an empty stomach. As for the tantanmen noodles, they had a quite authentic flavor. I usually don't like nuts and such in my food, but in this tantanmen, they served as a good accent and made it delicious. The pickled vegetables were also well done!

They offer izakaya menu only for dinner, and among them, the avocado namul was innovative and delicious. I had the fried chicken and rich cold tantan noodles. The fried chicken had a garlic flavor that whetted my appetite even before eating it...! When I tried it, the gentle taste was so impressive. The rich cold tantan noodles (medium spiciness) had a perfect balance of saltiness and spiciness, making it a perfect dish for summer. Even for those who are not good with spicy food, the cold tantan noodles didn't feel too spicy or stimulating due to its cold temperature, which was just right. There were many items on the dinner-only izakaya menu that I would like to try, so I would like to visit again to try them.

I love the cold noodles at the yakiniku restaurant I often go to, and when I found out that ENISHI produces them, I became curious and decided to visit. The chewy noodles with a good texture are delicious, and I have a feeling that I will be hooked on them. The right amount of spiciness and spices stimulate my appetite. It's quite filling, so it might not be suitable as a late-night meal after drinking, but I feel like I want to eat it regardless of the season or time of day!

Today, I had a double header for lunch. I went to an okonomiyaki restaurant earlier, and last time I had the Modern set meal and it was too much, so this time I opted for the Okonomi set meal, which was still quite filling. However, for some reason, I was feeling particularly hungry today. I had originally planned to eat bukkake udon at a nearby udon restaurant because it is both affordable and delicious, despite using whole wheat flour for their white udon. But when I got close, I realized that the sister ramen shop was closed. Oh no, now the udon shop is closed too. Feeling a bit disappointed, I started to head back home and on the way, I remembered a place I used to frequent had changed to a tantanmen noodle shop. A soupless tantanmen would be a good choice, and there was seating available. Plus, if it's spicy, it would be even better! I was drawn in. Surprisingly, there was no one there. Is it an unpopular shop? The reviews weren't particularly bad though. Well, I do want to try their tantanmen. I purchased a basic tantanmen meal ticket for 890 yen. I was directed to a counter seat by the owner. I was asked if it was my first time there. I said yes, and was given an explanation about the spice levels. None, small, medium, with medium being the standard for the shop. I don't dislike spicy food, but I tend to sweat a lot due to my constitution. A soaking wet shirt is not my preference. So, I chose small. Soon, a visually appealing tantanmen was brought to me. It had a color that was different from regular soup-based ramen or maze-soba, creating a unique sensation. The owner mentioned that I could adjust the spiciness myself using a scale of 1 to 5. Small, medium, with a scale of 1 to 5? Not very consistent. Well, it's still reasonable. I mixed it all up, oh, it's flat noodles, the noodles look delicious! I took a bite, not very spicy, maybe the spiciness comes from Sichuan pepper or mustard? The spiciness in tantanmen tends to be different, so it's hard to tell! Well, I don't dislike either of them. Both came through! But the Sichuan pepper is being balanced out. Just right for me. The balance of ingredients is good and delicious, the crunch of the cashews is also good. I added a splash of the vinegar provided, that's good too. About halfway through, I needed water! The Sichuan pepper adds a nice kick. It's not related to this shop, but I might have eaten a bit too much. When I got back, I could report back to my partner (who scolded me for overeating). Thank you!

I had some business in Fukushima Ward, so I decided to visit Enishi, a place I had been curious about. I arrived a little after 11 o'clock and was the first customer. I bought my ticket at the machine by the entrance and entered. The staff, especially the handsome guy, was very friendly and welcoming. After a short wait, my bowl of noodles arrived. The presentation was so appealing that I could tell it was going to be delicious just by looking at it. Whoever came up with the idea of adding pickled vegetables to mixed noodles is a genius. It was incredibly tasty! There were also three types of vinegar for seasoning, so it's worth trying different ones to find your favorite. It was absolutely delicious!

Tantanmen, medium spicy. It had the same flavor as when I had it in Kobe. The nuts were impressive. The flat noodles were easy to eat and delicious. When mixed together, it had a rich flavor, but the spiciness was mild even though it was medium spicy. If you ask the staff, you can get additional condiments. However, the flavors of each ingredient are distinct and impactful. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat tantanmen, so I searched on Tabelog and visited for the first time. We had to wait a little because it was full, but we were seated in about 5 minutes. You can choose the level of spiciness here, but I chose the standard level, which is medium spicy. You can add more spiciness for free later. The medium spicy was just right in terms of spiciness and numbing sensation. It also had pickled vegetables, which added a nice touch. There were 3 types of seasoned vinegar available, which was great for flavor variation or drizzling over the set fried chicken. I would like to come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I went there. It seems they have received a Michelin Bib Gourmand. However, there were no people inside the restaurant, which was kind of scary. The soup-less tantanmen was good, with tasty noodles and sauce, but it didn't have that special touch that I was expecting. I wonder why. The next day, my mouth was numb.

Tantanmen from a Michelin-acclaimed restaurant. Located in a back alley in Fukushima, Osaka, ENISHI is the branch of the main store in Sannomiya, Kobe, which opened in Tokyo on the former site of the popular restaurant Mutahiro 22 years ago. Mutahiro was also well-liked, but I think the business environment was tough due to the pandemic. Last time I had the soupless version, so this time I ordered the one with soup. - Chicken Paitan Tantanmen (Dive Rice) for 950 yen The soup looks bright red, but it's not very spicy. The noodles are the same flat brownish noodles as the soupless version. Both are delicious, but having soup with the noodles is also good. The Dive Rice comes with pickled plum, which I added after finishing the noodles. One thing that caught my attention was that the cooks seemed young while the waitstaff were older, with a female assistant helping with the cooking. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but the instructions given to the staff seemed a bit harsh. Instructions to staff should be given after business hours, not while customers are present.

Delicious tantan noodles without soup. As expected from a Michelin-rated place, the taste is amazing. Before entering the restaurant, I was pondering at the ticket machine when the staff asked me if it was my first time here. They recommended the regular tantan noodles with a choice of adding fried chicken set or rice bowl with soft-boiled egg, saying it would be delicious. I chose the rice bowl set. The most popular among women, with the option to choose spiciness, I went for the medium level. Adding the soft-boiled egg made it milder, and they advised me to mix it well with the rice towards the end. The staff, an older gentleman, kindly explained everything with a smile. The interior of the restaurant is clean. It was a bit disappointing that there was no place to hang bags or baskets. The texture of the ingredients was just right for a satisfying chew. When I mixed in the pickled plum on top of the rice, I accidentally bit into the seed. It was incredibly delicious, and I would love to visit this place again.

ENISHI Osaka Main Store [Fukushima 5-chome, Fukushima-ku, Osaka City] ENISHI is a speciality shop for tantanmen with its main store in Kobe. The first Osaka branch is located in Fukushima-ku. The main store has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog, a famous restaurant review site. The store is said to be located where "Mutahiro" used to be. At the ticket machine outside the store, you can order by just looking at the menu, which is very attractive. - Soupless Rich Tantanmen (mild) 970 yen. When it arrives, the colorful appearance gets you excited, and the taste is already confirmed to be delicious. The noodles, which are served at the same time, have a unique accent, resembling pasta tagliatelle, and the presence of cashew nuts adds to the experience. Despite being tantanmen, the sauce has a unique and Western taste. You can enjoy flavor variations with condiments like dried fish vinegar, orange vinegar, and chili oil on the table. It seems manageable for those who are not good with spicy food, as it is only mildly spicy. When visiting such a shop, it can make those who are not good with spicy food envy those who can handle spicy food. The clean interior with only counter seats and friendly staff make it a relaxing place to dine. The prepayment system with PayPay is available, making it easy for solo diners to enter. [Business Hours] 11:00-15:00, 17:00-22:00 [Closed] None [Parking] None, so be aware that nearby coin parking may be expensive.

The vinegar had a strong flavor and it was nice to occasionally taste it. I started with a substantial meal, including rice and eggs. At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it all, but I'm glad I did. Let's try using vinegar little by little and see how it goes. I haven't tried the original version in the homeland? in a foreign country, but it sounds good. Oh, by the way, the richer the flavor, the sweeter it tends to become, so even the spiciest one tasted sweet to me. Just to let you know, I like spicy food, so I wanted to mention that.

The "Michelin Tan Tan Men" restaurant with a striking flag caught my attention. The rich Tan Tan Men costs 970 yen and the exterior and interior of the restaurant exude a distinctly Chinese atmosphere. It is popular among men, so I decided to try it. True to its name, the dish was rich and flavorful, with large pieces of onions, purple pickles commonly seen in set meals, and the crunchy texture of cashew nuts. It also had unique vinegars like bonito vinegar, orange vinegar, and exotic vinegar, which added a nice touch of acidity to stimulate the appetite. I would definitely like to try it again.

In the past, there used to be a different ramen shop at this location, but without checking, I went to the shop and found that it had changed. However, it was a good thing because it was a shop that I liked for tantanmen. I sat at the counter since it was available. I ordered the soupless tantanmen. I mixed it well and ate it. It was delicious. There were plenty of ingredients with various textures. The taste was rich and flavorful, but it was easy to eat and my chopsticks kept moving. I finished it all without any leftovers. It was a hit. Thank you for the meal.

I often visit this place for lunch because they serve a unique mazesoba style dish that is inspired by the roots of tantanmen. It has an ethnic feel to it and the flavor is something I have never tasted before. If you don't mind the coarsely chopped raw onions, I highly recommend it. Personally, I wish they would sprinkle plenty of cilantro on top.

This is a tantan-men specialty shop located right near Fukushima Station. The main branch is in Kobe, and I think there used to be one in Yotsubashi as well. Despite being a tantan-men shop, it is listed in the Michelin guide. I happened to see it and decided to go in for some ramen as a way to finish off a night of drinking. It used to be the location of Mutahiro, a popular shop for niboshi tsukemen. Mutahiro was quite tasty from what I remember, but it seems like they closed down, which is a shame. It was around 9 PM, so there were hardly any customers. I ordered the soup-less tantan-men with a ticket system. It was topped with plenty of ingredients, including large chunks of minced meat miso, onions, fried onions and nuts, pickled vegetables, and mizuna. I mixed it all together and ate it. The noodles were thick and slightly curly, making it easy for the ingredients to cling to them. While it wasn't particularly surprising, it was definitely a delicious tantan-men with some clever touches. It was quite filling, so as a way to end a night of drinking, it might have been a bit heavy. I thought it would have been better to come here as the first stop for a meal.
