I had proper tempura for the first time in a long time. When I had it for lunch before, I thought, "Is this it?" But this time, I truly saw the power of tempura. It was a course in the 5000 yen range. It started with shrimp shells (legs), which was unexpected. Then came two shrimp, both the salt and "tentsuyu" dipping sauce were delicious. I don't remember the exact order, but there was a shiitake mushroom stuffed with shrimp paste, which was great. I enjoyed the flavor of the shiitake mushroom. Asparagus, scallops, kisu fish, lotus root, and then conger eel. I've had trouble finishing the conger eel tempura in the past, but this time I managed to eat it all. Despite reaching my limit, I couldn't resist ordering more tempura from Maru-Ten. The sweet potato tempura was quite thick, and they used a technique of wrapping it in kitchen paper after frying to steam it with residual heat. It was delicious, of course. The meal ended with tempura tea, and although the tempura was shrimp, I would have preferred small fish tempura. The price was reasonable, and I realized that tempura is best enjoyed at the counter. It was a delightful evening. Thank you for the meal.

After finishing work, I walked around Hakata Station. Recently, I've been wandering around Hakata because local stores are being sold off and Hakata is being strengthened. The best part is that the restaurants are not crowded, so you can choose easily. I had tempura and a glass of nice table wine. It was delicious. By the way, I am a sake drinker and updating my blog regularly. It's convenient when the construction site is near your home.

I jumped in around 20:00, but the order had to be rushed due to the OS at 20:30. I wish there was a little more time for drinks. The tempura was crispy and delicious, with a strong taste of the ingredients. The shrimp and squid were wrapped in shiso leaves, along with eggplant, lotus root, and some white fish. The set meal included mini tempura rice bowl, red miso soup, sashimi, tokoroten, small side dishes, and salad. I usually eat tempura with salt, but I had the vegetables with tempura dipping sauce and grated daikon, which was a classic and delicious flavor. Next time, I might want to enjoy it at the counter.

It is a pleasure to be able to enjoy freshly fried food at the counter according to my preference. This time, I started with shrimp and ended with shrimp, following my usual pattern. I also enjoyed special items such as rock oysters, young ayu fish, corn, sweet sea bream with uni and nori, conger eel, and a variety of vegetables. I also had seconds of my favorite dishes, along with a highball and a bottle of daiginjo sake, which was just right. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Unfortunately, I had to take antibiotics that day, so I couldn't drink alcohol, but the restaurant served me with a smile, offering fantastic ingredients like rock oysters and abalone liver soy sauce that I always enjoy ordering. Even though I had to skip the tempura tea, they kindly made a special tempura bowl for me to take home and enjoy at my leisure.

I love being greeted by the manager's warm smile at the counter, so I often make reservations. They always provide me with my favorite dishes and surprise me with new ones, which is really enjoyable. The young ayu was excellent, I even ordered seconds. The sea urchin was also plentiful. I ended the meal with a delicious tempura bowl to go. I was satisfied once again this time.

Typhoon No. 11 passed through on the day I was worried, but I had made a reservation at Hakata Station Tenichi from 3 o'clock, so I went without expecting much. I was impressed by the wonderful selection of sushi they had prepared. It's a grateful restaurant where I can always get only the good things I like. This time, they had matsutake mushrooms, even though they were from China. I started with shrimp, followed by rock oysters, scaly sea bream tempura, chestnut simmered in its skin, sea urchin wrapped in seaweed, ginkgo nuts, asparagus, nameko mushrooms, myoga ginger, pearl onions, shrimp surimi with shiitake mushrooms, eel bones, sweet potatoes, and finished with shrimp again and heavenly tea. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had it for lunch. I'm not a big fan of tempura because it often makes me feel heavy, but I can easily eat Tenichi's tempura without any issues. I wonder what makes it different. It's located near the movie theater on the same floor, so you can make good use of your time before watching a movie.

I like having the counter to myself at an early hour. I'm tired of set courses, so I made a reservation in advance and I'm excited that they bring in rare and expensive ingredients for me. This time, the clams were delicious and I had seconds. The young corn with husks, seasonal taro sprouts, and snow peas were all great to have. The fried scales of red snapper and scallops were exceptional. I asked for tempura at the end, but they only had small portions for the course, so I requested one good item. Although I was still hungry, I ordered a special tempura rice bowl for takeout, but they seemed to have forgotten it... I ended up eating at home. What a shame.

I still love tempura. Today I had a tempura bowl with shrimp, kakiage, eggplant, lotus root, and pumpkin, the classics and still delicious. I also had a few highballs, enjoying drinking in the afternoon like an old man, the usual fun! Tempura from Tokyo is the best! Having a double highball with a stronger taste shows consideration!

After the end of the pandemic, I felt like eating tempura for the first time in a long time, so I made a reservation for a table seat. I had seen on the website that there was a seasonal course, so when I asked the staff, they said that although it was a menu for the counter seats, they could bring it to the table, and they also mentioned that they serve freshly fried tempura, so it was okay to move to the counter seats. I moved to the counter seats. The service was great from the start. Then, at the counter, I finished 10 pieces of tempura, enjoying the sound of frying, the crispy texture of the batter, the way the batter was solidified on one side for presentation, the sweetness of the lotus root, and the way the scales of the sea bream were arranged. I enjoyed it for an hour and a half. I was so immersed in the experience that I forgot I was in a station building. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

This time, I went to Ginza Tenichi in Hakata Station Central Street, JR Hakata City 9F, in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City for lunch. The entrance exudes a sense of luxury. It had been a while since I last visited this place. The lunch menu prices were quite high. The restaurant had counter seats and table seats. I chose a table seat. Unfortunately, the window seats were already taken. The counter seats seemed like a good choice as well, as you can watch the tempura being fried right in front of you. The lunch menu ranged from 2035 yen to 5940 yen, offering tempura sets, rice bowls, and course meals. I chose the Tempura Set Orchid for 2,035 yen, which included 7 pieces of tempura, Japanese-style salad, rice, red miso soup, and pickles. The food was served in about 15 minutes. The tempura consisted of 2 prawns, sand borer fish, shiitake mushrooms, eggplant, pumpkin, small shrimp, and mixed vegetables. The batter was thin and crispy. I started by dipping the tempura in dashi and grated daikon radish, beginning with the prawns which had a nice crunchy texture. The dashi had just the right amount of flavor. I also enjoyed trying different tempura with salt. The maitake mushroom had a wonderful aroma. It would have been even better if more seasonal ingredients were included. The service was attentive, with staff offering to refill tea multiple times. Thank you for the meal.

We had peony shrimp, abalone, fried scales of sea bream, young ayu fish, conger eel, corn, myoga, okra, pearl onions, 3 prawns, scallops, shrimp shinjo shiitake mushrooms, asparagus. I had to resist alcohol and settled for a non-alcoholic drink.

I was in the mood for Japanese food, so I went to eat tempura rice bowl. I had the tempura rice bowl of the month for lunch. I informed them that I am currently undergoing dental braces treatment and they kindly cut the food into small, easy-to-eat pieces for me, which was very helpful. The wine was quite sour, so I opened the bottle but stopped after just one sip. I also tried their original daiginjo sake and pairing it with high-quality tempura is a unique and enjoyable experience that you can only have at this counter.

I ordered the recommended seasonal limited course (*^^*) It progressed smoothly, with little conversation, and the course at the counter was finished. It wasn't that enjoyable, I guess (laughs). The tempura was delicious. I noticed while eating that when you eat tempura with salt, it's not that appetizing. The oiliness increases or something. On the other hand, when you dip it in tempura dipping sauce, the oiliness disappears, and you can eat as much as you want. The tempura was not thin, but it was light and very appealing. I also had some sake and completed my drunkard transformation. Overall, it was good, but I didn't like the sake selection, pricing, and temperature. Thank you for the meal. By the way, why did the culture of eating tempura with curry powder on top develop?

After using Tenichi for 20 years, I started customizing my orders to include new and exciting dishes as I was getting tired of the regular courses. This time, I enjoyed a bottle of Koshu wine, premium sake, 4 prawns, fried scales of red snapper, white fish, scallops, giant clam sashimi rolls with sea urchin and seaweed, bracken fern, butterbur sprouts, spring onions, bamboo shoots, broad beans, shrimp shinjo, shiitake mushrooms, eel bones, asparagus, and clam tempura to finish. It was a truly delightful experience.
