There are several onigiri shops inside New Chitose Airport Terminal Building, and this time I tried one of them. I visited the shop around 11:55 AM on a Sunday. The shop is located in front of the arrival gate on the 1st floor of the domestic terminal building (JAL side), next to "Lawson New Chitose Airport Arrival Gate No. 2 Store." The 1st floor has significantly fewer people compared to the 2nd floor. The store has a counter for sales only and has a Japanese-style woody exterior. There were a few customers coming in and out. There is a showcase in front of the store displaying various onigiri, side dishes, and bento boxes. The lineup was quite attractive. The prices were reasonable for an airport shop. I hesitated but ended up buying three types of onigiri: "Shiretoko Salmon Mountain Pickles (290 yen)," "Wasabi Shiraoi Beef (290 yen)," and "Scallop Soy Sauce (290 yen)." They also gave me a hand towel. I had them around 6 PM on the same day after keeping them in a cool place. The onigiri were individually wrapped in bamboo-patterned bags, with seaweed wrapped around them. They were 4-5 bites in size, with fluffy rice that loosened in the mouth. They were a bit firm, with a sweet taste spreading as you chew. "Shiretoko Salmon Mountain Pickles" and "Wasabi Shiraoi Beef" had fillings in the center. They had a sweet and savory soy sauce base, with a spicy kick and a strong beef flavor and umami in the "Wasabi Shiraoi Beef" that I liked. The "Shiretoko Salmon Mountain Pickles" had a nice balance of saltiness and the protein-rich umami of the salmon. On the other hand, the "Scallop Soy Sauce" with scallops mixed in had a taste that was not distinct and left me feeling unsatisfied. Next time, I might try buying a bento box.

This is a bento shop at New Chitose Airport. It's located near the arrival gate, so it's less crowded than the shops near the departure gate, which is nice. It doesn't feel like it's geared towards tourists, so it's a good option when you're short on time and want to keep your expenses low. On this occasion, I had the Cheese Sauce Pork Bowl for 780 yen. The pork and cheese sauce were delicious. Unfortunately, the rice at the bottom was a bit dry, probably from being kept in a warmer for a long time. When I think about it, the bento boxes in a certain convenience store never have dry rice, so I think their technology is amazing.

New Chitose Airport has a rice ball shop in front of the JAL arrival lobby. They display pre-made rice balls in packs with a wide variety of menu options. The "Mountain Wasabi Cream Cheese" rice ball costs 280 yen. It's evident that some time has passed since it was prepared. It seems like they packed it without letting it cool down, so it's a bit moist. The shape is uneven, and the seaweed is small, serving mainly for appearance. The rice itself is decent and suitable for a rice ball, but if it was made in advance, it could use more saltiness. The combination of ingredients works well for a rice ball, but the spiciness of the wasabi was lacking. ...It might be good for quick airport use when time is limited.

I had a reservation for a rental car and while waiting for the arrangements to be made, I had a snack time! I usually don't buy 400 yen onigiri, but this time I did. I tried the Kamameshi Zuwai Mayo and Kamameshi Hotate. The Zuwai Mayo was softly pressed and the Hotate was gently squeezed. I'm not a fan of tightly packed onigiri, I prefer them fluffy. The rice was flavorful with soy sauce, a little bit of Zuwai crab, and a hint of mayo. It was a delicious and satisfying onigiri. Thank you for the meal.

Welcome. ---------- February 2021 ----------New Chitose Airport 1F, affiliated with a seafood-focused bento shop in the JAL arrival area |o| °д°)ノHelloThere's a Lawson and Tenya nearby, isn't there? The area is spacious, so it's easy to get lost. I was heading to Sapporo Station by JR, but I found this place. There are a lot of seafood options, but the prices seem a bit touristy."Shiretoko salmon mountain pickles" for 270 yen.Do tourists know about Shiretoko? At least they could say "Okhotsk" instead, right? There's no mountain pickle taste, just salted salmon."Mayo Zangi" for 240 yen. It's finely chopped Zangi with mayo. Hmm...yeah, it's definitely airport prices.I was disappointed that they didn't have the "Salt Onigiri" from number 16.

Inside New Chitose Airport, next to the JAL arrival lobby, there is a Lawson. I had lunch there during a business trip. I really don't want to go on business trips (TT). Hokkaido is still not completely calm, but I'm scared of flying (TT), yet I am still active on Tabelog. Last year, I was looking for a place to buy onigiri at New Chitose Airport, and after a few months break, I forgot which number in the onigiri series this is. Probably, excluding convenience stores and shops, this should be the last one. I can't remember which number this is, but I want to make this the last one this time ( ゚д゚) Since it's in the arrival lobby, it was difficult to visit if you don't have much time before departure. The selection is limited during this time, but that's understandable. I chose the wasabi cheese that caught my eye. It's good, but definitely more of a snack. It would go well with beer rather than rice. I'll have to drink with wasabi cheese when I get back to Sapporo.

Arriving in Hokkaido, I wandered around New Chitose Airport. I love onigiri, so I was curious about a specialty shop that uses Hokkaido ingredients in their onigiri. I stopped by and noticed a large pot where they make the onigiri. I heard that they make the onigiri after receiving the order, but there were also many pre-made ones. *Haboro Sweet Shrimp Marinated in Dried Powder (240 yen) This is an original product of the shop made with sweet shrimp from Haboro, dried and mixed into a powder. The shrimp flavor was strong, but the texture was not to my liking. They made this one after I ordered. *Salmon Mountain Pickles (240 yen) This onigiri contains shredded autumn salmon from Shiretoko. It was simple yet delicious, allowing the rice flavor to shine through and the saltiness was just right. It seemed popular with airport workers rather than tourists during lunchtime (lol).

I had ramen and ice cream, so I bought dinner to take home for myself and my family. I bought "salmon flakes with sesame dressing" for 190 yen. I always get lost at the airport, but this time I asked the information desk for help. I will probably ask for directions again next time. I also got lost trying to find the JR platform from here. Finally, I arrived and looked around. There were white people in line at the showcase taking pictures. There were also bento boxes and sandwiches available. My family wanted "plum and bonito flakes," so I made sure not to get the same thing and chose something else for 380 yen. The salmon flakes with sesame dressing cost 400 yen, which was a bit expensive, so I chose that instead. I split the plum and bonito flakes for my family to share. They said the plum was not the sweet kind but the sour traditional kind. It was a satisfying meal.

This is a familiar day trip to Hokkaido. Arrived at New Chitose Airport 30 minutes late. Decided that there was no time to eat lunch leisurely, so I found an onigiri shop in the arrival lobby and bought a konbu onigiri for ¥190. It was moist, with plenty of seaweed and rice, and tasted different from regular onigiri. They offer over 30 types of onigiri, and if it's not in the showcase, they can make it for you, although it may take some time.

I bought onigiri at "Hokkaido Onigiri Workshop Kana," which opened on the 1st floor of the New Chitose Airport domestic terminal building on February 1st. I chose the meat miso onigiri for 190 yen and the mentaiko onigiri for 240 yen. The shop is located on the JAL side of the arrival lobby on the 1st floor, near Lawson and across from the car rental counters. It seems to be a sister store of "Kinsaido Kana Airport Store" on the 2nd floor of the terminal building. The menu includes various onigiri ranging from 160 yen to 400 yen, as well as kamameshi onigiri priced from 290 yen to 400 yen. They also offer red rice. While some onigiri are pre-made and displayed in the showcase, you can also have them freshly made on the spot. They also sell sandwiches and salads. The mentaiko onigiri was freshly made and indeed delicious. Compared to convenience store onigiri, they may be a bit pricey, but the handmade ones are worth it in my opinion. Thank you for the meal.

Arrival gate for domestic flights at New Chitose Airport in March 2023, on the 1st floor. A rice ball specialty store to accompany your journey. Passed by a few days ago and couldn't resist the temptation, but had to give in due to being full. Made a second visit just for the rice balls. In the evening with only a few left, you can feel the Hokkaido vibes from the ingredients. Prices start from 220 yen, and the sujiko (salmon roe) is a bit pricey, so I opted for the "Rausu-produced salmon mountain pickles" at 220 yen. Small and round, perfect size for a light snack or for women. Delicious even when cold, with tasty rice, well-balanced saltiness, and a good amount of filling. Thank you for the meal! (^ω^)

After arriving at New Chitose from Narita in the early morning, I found myself feeling a bit hungry. As I was heading towards the car rental counter, I came across this shop and decided to stop. I chose the "Salmon Mountain Pickle" while my companion chose the "Salmon and Salmon Roe". We sat on a nearby bench and enjoyed our onigiri. Regardless of the filling, the slightly warm rice was the highlight of the delicious onigiri.

Today, I had lunch at New Chitose Airport before boarding a plane to Haneda Airport in the early afternoon. I enjoyed a luxurious parent and child rice ball with salmon and salmon roe. There were many tables in the airport where I could sit and eat in a relaxed atmosphere. Rice balls on the go are always delicious!

Oh no~?? This is before we even arrived?? I must have mixed up the order. In times like this, you really need to wake up early. My wife said, "The bus leaves at 7 o'clock," but I'm fine. I can upload a review, get lots of likes on Instagram, and get ready with ease. I found a note saying, "If I don't wake up at 6, wake me up," in my usual spot, so I went to wake him up, but he had already woken up on his own. We took the 7 o'clock bus to the terminal, then a bus to Memanbetsu Airport without much time to spare. First stop, Chitose. Despite having an hour and a half to spare, I was tempted to have a beer, but there was a high wall preventing me. Especially since today we were planning to rent a car, so I asked, "Can I have a drink?" just in case. The response was, "I'll be driving, so it's okay," but how weak... Despite having an hour and a half to spare, it seems that nowadays, even for a connecting flight, you have to go outside the gate. After going outside, there was another baggage inspection, leaving no time to spare. I couldn't even have a drink, but I was intrigued by the rice ball shop. Do you know it? Have you eaten it before? Was it delicious? Tell me~! My wife chose the meat miso, anticipating that I wouldn't eat it right away, so she picked something that wouldn't spoil quickly. That's right, I ended up eating it when we got back home the next day. But, this trip was only for one night and two days, so I ate it the next day. It may be a bit crumbly, but it's not bad for nowadays. I can't say "I really like this rice," but overall, it's not bad. The meat miso had a rich flavor without being too overpowering, it was delicious.
