I was out having lunch and looking for a café to cool down while waiting for my next reservation, so I came here. The atmosphere was cozy, and I felt relaxed. It did feel a bit warm inside, but they had a variety of options on the menu besides coffee, which I really appreciated since I can't drink coffee! They also serve alcohol and shisha, so I'm thinking of going back to enjoy some drinks next time. I'm also curious about the desserts. It's great that you can smoke electronic cigarettes here too! I’m definitely coming back!

I came here to satisfy my hunger. I found it strange that even when ordering food, there was a one-drink order requirement. I guess it’s because it’s a shisha bar. There was no set drink option, so I ordered an iced coffee. It was very small! Although it was said to be an original blend, it didn’t compare to specialty shops and cost 600 yen. I had the butter toast with the butter served on the side. They used bread that is supposedly hotel-quality, and it was delicious. The total bill came to 1000 yen. The unlimited drink option is 2500 yen. It might be good for those who want to relax, drink alcohol, or enjoy shisha. During my visit, all the customers (two people) were smoking shisha. It didn't meet my needs since I was really hungry. That's my fault. The atmosphere was nice, and they have Wi-Fi. Only electronic cigarettes are allowed.

On December 3, 2023, "ugo Neck of the Woods" opened on the 5th floor of the Morini Building located at 6-1 Minami 3-jo Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo. You take an elevator from the first floor, but the elevator only goes up to the 4th floor, so you have to use the stairs to get to the 5th floor. As you climb the stairs, a door comes into view, and you might start to wonder, “Is this really a shop?” However, upon opening the door and moving down the hallway, you discover a spacious interior. It’s an old building, but the inside has a wonderful atmosphere. When I visited, there were two stylish-looking staff members. You can access the menu by scanning a QR code, and orders are taken verbally. The place can function as both a cafe and a bar, but there is quite a rich variety of alcoholic drinks, especially GIN. When I asked one of the staff for a recommendation, he mentioned that "NAKATSU GIN has a great selection." He then lined up the bottles for me. I ordered the "NAKATSU GIN (Blood Orange & Tea Leaf)" (800 yen) and the "Egg Sandwich" (650 yen). For the NAKATSU GIN, I requested it as a gin and tonic. This gin is distilled in Nakatsugawa, Gifu, and since it's from a small distillery, it's not commonly found in many places. The refreshing taste of blood orange combined with the aroma of the tea leaves and a hint of bitterness is simply delightful. As for the egg sandwich, the bread seemed to be rye. The filling included egg and mashed potatoes made from locally sourced Hokkaido potatoes, and the generous amount of filling is a great touch. I believe it’s a delicious sandwich. During my visit, instrumental music from Billy Joel was playing, perfectly matching the chic atmosphere of the place. I think it’s a cafe and bar with great taste!

The restaurant "ugo Neck of the Woods," which opened on December 3, 2023, in the former location of the popular "Fruit Club 818," is located on the fifth floor of a building. However, the elevator only goes to the fourth floor, so you have to take the stairs up. While there are signs for the restaurant on the ground floor and halfway up the stairs, the entrance looks very ordinary, resembling an apartment door rather than a dining establishment. You open a slightly rusty, unremarkable door and proceed down a long hallway to the dining area, where you find counter seats, tables, and sofa seating in a spacious layout with high ceilings. There's a rack displaying some clothing, which seems to be for sale. Upon entering, there were two groups of customers—two men and one woman. A handsome staff member presented a QR code and said, "Here is the MENU," but orders are taken verbally. The menu includes "soft drinks," "shisha," and "alcohol," alongside a small selection of simple appetizers, two or three types of desserts, and sandwiches, fitting the theme of a "shisha bar & café." The sweet aroma of shisha wafts through the air. I ordered a hot blend coffee (¥600), ginger ale (¥500), egg sandwich (¥650), and chocolate terrine. The drinks arrived about five minutes later, followed by the chocolate terrine and egg sandwich in another five minutes. The coffee... appeared to be machine-brewed with medium roast beans, offering a refreshing light acidity that's easy to drink. However, the coffee was a bit weak for my taste, not strong enough to pair well with the chocolate desserts, although it might appeal more to a female audience. The chocolate terrine... had a firm, rich texture similar to a gâteau au chocolat, served with lightly sweetened whipped cream. It was deliciously smooth, but it was a bit unfortunate that the coffee was on the milder side. The egg sandwich... was packed with lettuce, grain mustard, mayonnaise, and a generous amount of egg salad, making it challenging to eat without spilling. The bread was dense, with a mix of nuts and sesame seeds, providing a tasty and aromatic twist—it was enjoyable and flavorful. Young men might want to keep this hidden café in mind, as it could really impress. Thank you for the meal!

After enjoying sushi with my reviewer friend, we decided to visit a place they wanted to check out. We headed to the Mori building on the 5th floor, located at South 3, West 3 Chome. We took the elevator to the 4th floor and then climbed the stairs to the 5th floor. When we reached the top, I felt a bit uncertain if this was really a restaurant upon seeing a somewhat dubious door. However, once we opened the door, we were greeted by a spacious and high-ceilinged area, featuring a stylish interior with exposed concrete walls adorned with clothes and accessories. The retro daruma stove placed in the center of the shop added to the charming vibe. It seems that this place is a combination of an apparel store and a shisha café bar. While we didn't try the shisha this time and opted for drinks instead, the menu caught my eye with light snacks like lu rou sandwich, ice cream, and chocolate terrine available for pairing with drinks and sweets. The atmosphere is trendy yet reasonably priced, and they even offer all-you-can-drink options, making it a great spot, especially for students and young people.

The official name of the shop on Google is "Shisha Café & Bar ugo 'Neck of the Woods.'” It has a spacious, open atmosphere where you can see the entire interior from the counter. There didn't seem to be anyone using shisha, so it felt more like a casual light café bar. It opens at 1 PM, making it a nice spot for a café break with their original blend coffee. Currently, they also offer a selection of Japanese whiskey, including Maker's Mark for 800 yen, Hakushu for 1,200 yen, Chita for 1,000 yen, Kaku for 700 yen, and NIKKA SESSION for 850 yen. It’s appealing that Hakushu is available, though the glass used for serving felt a bit unusual for a highball - it was presented in a wine glass. I stopped by for a quick visit between sushi and yakiniku, and while sipping a highball from the drink menu, I enjoyed a dessert that was brought out as a charm charge: a soft, slightly sweet pound cake with a cake sponge texture. Store Information: Address: 5F, Mori Building, 3-6-1 Minami 3 Jo Nishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 060-0063 ugo Neck of the Woods.
