After leaving Phenetre, I returned to the center of Nakashibetsu by taxi. I decided to enjoy the lingering feeling by having a drink at the bar instead of just going back to the hotel. Since I was stood up yesterday, I was relieved to find that the bar was open today. The interior of the bar had a counter in front of the door, with rows of bottles lined up behind it. Most of the bottles were whisky, which was perfect. I took a seat at the counter and ordered my first drink. When it comes to Hokkaido, there are plenty of whisky distilleries like Nikka Yoichi Distillery, Kanden Jitsugyo Akkeshi Distillery, Jiyu Whisky Beni Zakura Distillery (which makes craft gin), Yotei Brewing Niseko Distillery (not yet released), Kamui Whisky, and more. So, I decided to start with Akkeshi, which is the closest. The owner, a handsome woman, showed me a variety of Akkeshi whiskies, such as Daikan, Single Malt Rittou, Rainwater, Single Malt Boushu, and Single Malt Kanro. It was quite a sight to see them all lined up like that. I chose the Single Malt Kanro to start with. As I sipped the shot, I could smell the sweet and rich whisky aroma with a slight bitterness and strong alcohol taste. It was delicious, and I could see why it's hard to find. I then tried the Rainwater as a twice-up and the Daikan on the rocks. The twice-up allowed me to appreciate the aroma better, with a faint raisin-like sweetness and a slight tangy kick. The Daikan had a scent like sugar-added black tea with a hint of citrus acidity. I loved them all. We ended up having a lively discussion about Nikka Yoichi Distillery's Single Cask. It was a very enjoyable and fulfilling time. I had a great time savoring the drinks to my heart's content. I won't say much, but if you love whisky, this bar is a must-visit for a fun time. It's a wonderful bar with a great selection of Hokkaido whiskies. If I ever come back to Nakashibetsu, I will definitely visit this place again. Thank you for the hospitality!
