辛口トトロン
On the opening day visit to the new store, we saw the popular Nogucchan! The seating was divided between a counter and semi-private box seats. The restaurant is on the second floor, so I jokingly said I needed to catch my breath while climbing the stairs (just kidding, lol). I ordered all-you-can-drink oolong tea, and then I saw Nogucchan eating the omakase sushi platter of 8 pieces for 1,080 yen. I thought, "Is this really the end?" because it looked so delicious! The owner, Tecchan, recommended the smoked toro-taku roll for 500 yen, and I couldn’t resist adding my current favorite, the natto roll for 400 yen, too.
Right from the start, the portions were generous. The smoked toro-taku roll was really tasty! It was great whether you dipped it in soy sauce or not—definitely a recommendation! Even though I was getting full, I couldn't just stop there, so I decided to try Saburo’s gyoza for 600 yen. At first, I thought three pieces for 600 yen was a bit pricey, but I was totally wrong! Each gyoza was huge! It was like there was more filling than two, maybe even three regular ones! The flavors were well-balanced, so they were delicious on their own, too!
Next, I had the grilled scallops with salted cod for 580 yen. While it’s common to grill scallops, grilling salted cod was a unique twist! I still felt like I could eat more, so I ordered an assortment of 5 skewers of grilled meat for 900 yen. Both the pork and chicken skewers were delicious! All of them—tsukune, pork belly, and chicken skin—were amazing! I couldn’t tell if it was the quality of the meat or the cooking technique, but I was completely satisfied this time!
Oh, and Tecchan mentioned that the coupons on their website are great, so next time, I’d like to try the seafood-topped sushi or the omakase sashimi platter with 10 items!
