It was just a short distance from Kyoto Station. The duck was delicious and I could eat it forever! It had no strong gamey taste, allowing me to truly enjoy the flavor of the meat. As a duck lover, I found another amazing restaurant. The broth was really fantastic. Honestly, everything was delicious, including the duck sushi and tempura. I also got to enjoy eel while I was there. The chef had a great personality, and the atmosphere at the counter was calm and pleasant. Since there are private rooms, I would also like to use this place for business meetings. I plan to visit again soon. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I often eat duck in dishes like soba and duck skips, which tend to be quite flavorful, but this was my first time trying duck shabu-shabu. It's light yet the broth is very rich. The breast meat is tender and delicious, but the rare neck meat also has a nice chew to it. I finished off the meal with the rice porridge, which was delicious as well.

The duck soba had a strong duck flavor, and the broth and green onions were really delicious! There were some chewy parts of the duck, but they were cut nicely to make them easier to eat, which I appreciated. Personally, I was a bit disappointed with the soba noodles.

Today, I finally visited the popular restaurant in Kyoto, “Kamo Ryori Kamo Pato Kyoto,” where I enjoyed a duck course prepared by Master Fujioka, who has years of experience under his belt. The first dishes to arrive were three appetizers: duck breast fillet marinated with kombu, yuba (tofu skin) sashimi, and a dish of tiny sardines and bell peppers with a hint of sansho pepper. The kombu-marinated duck breast was absolutely exquisite, with the addition of myoga (a type of ginger) enhancing its flavor! The sardines and bell pepper dish, reportedly a concoction born from the staff's meals, was also delicious and captivated me right from the start. Today, I headed to the highly regarded duck specialty restaurant “Kamo Ryori Kamo Pato Kyoto,” where Master Fujioka showcases his culinary skills. We began with a beautifully arranged trio of appetizers. The duck fillet marinated in kombu had a wonderfully sticky texture and an irresistible myoga flavor! The yuba sashimi melted in my mouth, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. There was also the “staff meal-inspired” dish of sardines and bell peppers with sansho pepper—this one delivered a delightful kick and refreshing aroma, making it perfect for pairing with drinks! The main course was duck shabu-shabu, which only needed a quick five-second dip due to its freshness! As soon as it entered my mouth, the duck melted effortlessly, and the umami flavor exploded. I appreciated being able to enjoy various cuts, like thigh, neck, and breast, each offering different textures and tastes—I was completely enchanted by it. The soup, enriched with the essence of the duck and complemented by the sweetness of green onions, provided a moment of pure bliss…✨ For the finale, we had a rice and egg porridge made with the expertly concentrated duck broth—simply divine! With every bite, happiness overflowed, and I couldn't help but order another draft beer. Thank you so much, “Kamo Ryori Kamo Pato Kyoto”! Master Fujioka's duck dishes are truly art! Besides the delicious food, I was also touched by the warm hospitality from the master and staff. I came to Kyoto for a photography event during the three-day weekend and wanted to eat something delicious, so I made a reservation at this restaurant. I tried Kyoto duck for the first time, and it was incredibly tasty! The way you prepare it is by quickly dipping the duck in hot broth for about five seconds before eating. The combination of the white green onions and the duck meat is simply exquisite. The quality of the duck exceeded my expectations. I also enjoyed some drinks on the rocks, and they were delicious too!

I visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekday, and this was my first time despite knowing about it since it opened. I hadn’t come before simply because it felt a bit pricey. The duck nanba udon, priced at 1320 yen, seemed a bit high for a lunch break during the workweek. However, having nearly exhausted all nearby dining options, I thought I’d give it a try on a whim. I also had a feeling it wouldn't be too crowded, allowing for a comfortable meal during the lunch hour. True to my expectations, there was only one other couple ahead of me. The restaurant had a very calm atmosphere with spacious counter seating. I ordered the duck nanba udon along with a duck rice set, totaling 1650 yen, which felt quite extravagant for lunch. While waiting, I was surprised to be informed that there was no udon available, and they asked if I would be okay with soba instead. I had no problem with that and quickly accepted, but I was still shocked that the main lunch item was unavailable. After a short wait, the meal was served. The broth was elegant and delicious. I found the most delightful part to be the green onions. They were sweet, had a great texture, and were exceptionally tasty. After having such delicious onions, I definitely want to try the generous servings of kujo green onion udon next time. There was plenty of duck meat in the dish without needing to order extra, which made me quite satisfied. However, the duck flavor in the rice wasn’t as prominent as I had hoped, so I might skip that next time. In a local area bustling with crowded restaurants, this place offers a peaceful dining experience, albeit at a slightly higher price point. Personally, the standout feature for me was the deliciousness of the green onions.

I ordered the most popular course. When I tried to order a la carte, I was told, "I'm not sure if there’s enough left, so I'll check the stock later. The course has quite a bit of food, so just see how you feel and order if you think you can eat more." So, I gave up for the time being. It seemed like the kitchen was run by one person, so the speed of serving was quite slow. However, all the dishes were delicious! The shabu-shabu broth had a great flavor, and I got to try various parts of the duck. But when they said, "It's a lot, so wait and see," I ended up hesitating, wondering how much more was coming and when would be the right time to order again. I never found out if there was any stock available, so I missed out on some dishes I really wanted to try until the end. Feeling regretful, I bought a donut on my way home and ate it.

I had a delicious lunch! It was a set of udon noodles topped with plenty of Kujo green onions and a duck rice dish for 1210 yen. Personally, I prefer both the noodles and rice to be a bit firmer, but the flavor of the broth is simply amazing. Instead of the rice set, I might consider adding duck shumai next time.

During my trip to Kyoto, I visited this restaurant that is close to Kyoto Station. I passed it at first and then realized, "Oh! This is the place!" The first floor has a casual counter area, while the second floor offers a more refined atmosphere, akin to a high-end restaurant. Since it was a special trip, I splurged and made a reservation for a ¥6,800 lunch course. The meal included delicious dishes like yuba sashimi, tempura, duck nigiri, and duck shabu-shabu. Everything was exquisite, but the broth from the duck shabu-shabu was so delicious that I almost finished it before getting to the udon at the end. I was thrilled to learn that I could get extra broth for free. It was a delightful experience, and I would love to go again.

I got off the city bus at Shimogyo General Government Building. It's not a very big restaurant, but it offers authentic dishes. They use duck reminiscent of Kyoto's duck cuisine. I had the duck nanban udon, and both the broth and flavor were excellent, along with the delicious Kyotan green onions. The mixed rice was also outstanding.

Today's lunch was at "Kamo Ryori Kamo Pato" near Kyoto Station, located in Shimogyoku, Kyoto City, just north of the old Bic Camera. The restaurant features a modern glass facade with a large udon shop sign that stands out. Inside, the ambiance is modern with indirect lighting, primarily in black and white. A large L-shaped counter greets guests upon entry. The menu offers duck udon and duck rice. The prices are on the higher end for udon. I ordered the signature dish, "Kamo Nanba Udon," priced at 1,650 yen. The udon arrived on a half-moon tray, looking upscale. The chopsticks provided are fine, and the shichimi (seven spice blend) is from the renowned Ryuukyaku. The bowl is filled with plenty of duck and green onions. The udon is thick with just the right amount of chewiness. The duck meat has a satisfying texture with a bounce to it. As you chew, the rich flavor of the duck and the sweetness of the fat come through. The broth becomes even more flavorful with the addition of duck fat. Pickled Chinese cabbage provides a refreshing contrast to the richness of the duck fat. The abundant kujo negi (Japanese green onions) add a crunchy texture. There’s so much duck and green onion that it’s hard to finish. This upscale duck restaurant offers a luxurious udon experience that exceeds its price point.

We dined here with family and enjoyed a course featuring duck dishes. The appetizers included a salad, duck roast, and duck sushi, all deliciously meaty. There were no side dishes or sashimi, but we had steamed duck shumai, which was also packed with meat, followed by grilled duck steak, which was equally tasty. We started with draft beer and then moved on to a shot of Red Rabbit Horse shochu on the rocks. For the rice dish, we had a mildly soft takikomi gohan (seasoned rice), and the soup was rich in flavor. The dessert was vanilla, a bit too sweet, but it served as a perfect finish to the meaty meal. I heard that the restaurant was previously located near Kyoto Station but relocated here due to a change in lease. It was a wonderful dining experience, and I appreciate the restaurant.

Is it classified as game meat? In Kyoto, duck meat is a beloved ingredient. The meat has a light flavor, but unlike chicken, it has a rich yet gentle taste. ( ´∀`)

After visiting Kyoto, I had a meal at this restaurant. Although we arrived quite late from our reserved time, they kindly allowed us in. At the place we visited, there were a lot of side dishes served for a gathering, so I held back and really enjoyed the food here. The shabu-shabu was particularly special since it featured duck, and it was very delicious. While I savored some sake, I ran out of time and couldn’t finish the course. The remaining group members, who didn’t have a reservation, seemed to have a wonderful time as they stayed longer from the time they arrived, and they mentioned that everything was extremely tasty. Next time, I’d like to take my time and enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace.
