Located on the outskirts of Furano, standing alone on a hillside with endless farmland, is the cozy pension "Landscape Furano." The owner is a mountain enthusiast originally from Sendai. After graduating from university, they worked for environmental survey companies and outdoor tour companies before deciding to start their own business. Despite being a rural pension, they take strict measures for COVID-19 prevention. Meal times are fixed, and only cash payments are accepted, which is common for pensions in this area. The second-floor rooms have large windows that offer a breathtaking view of the vast hills that symbolize Upper Furano and Biei, with the Tokachi mountain range in the background. The rooms themselves may not be very spacious, but the beauty of this view is indescribable. The surrounding area of the pension is perfect for a leisurely stroll, with handmade swings and hammocks that provide a relaxing atmosphere. The visually stunning 3D experience here is truly beautiful, reminiscent of the vineyards in Burgundy or Bordeaux. I noticed a beer tap in the dining area and enjoyed a refreshing drink on the terrace. The mealtime experience was also delightful, with a salad made from local vegetables that were so flavorful they didn't need any dressing. The Dutch oven dish, featuring local vegetables and a whole chicken, was a generous portion perfect for enjoying the flavors of Hokkaido. Dessert was a melon from a nearby producer with whom the owner has a good relationship. Breakfast was also delightful. The bill for one night with two meals included was just under 15,000 yen, which is quite reasonable. Despite the building not being new, it is impeccably clean, reflecting the owner's personality. While luxury hotels are nice, staying at an accommodation that blends in with the natural beauty of the area is a unique and charming experience when visiting a place known for its nature.

I stayed at a pension for the first time from September 15th to 16th, and was surprised by the rules and restrictions. However, it added to the fun of the trip. Dinner and breakfast were included. The dinner featured dishes cooked in a Dutch oven, where whole chicken with vegetables was served. The food was tender and delicious, although a bit salty due to the strong seasoning typical of northern cuisine. The bones in the chicken may make it difficult for children and elderly to eat, but I enjoyed it as a fan of bone-in meat. The meal included multigrain rice, corn soup, salad, and dessert (instant-like pudding). We also had Furano wine, both white and rosé, which were easy to drink but not exactly to my taste. The next morning, breakfast consisted of homemade bread, sausages, scrambled eggs, oranges, salad, yogurt, and self-service condiments. The milk was rich and delicious, and the honey was offered in a bottle to take home. I found such service delightful. Despite the various restrictions and self-service tasks like laying out the futon, the experience felt like a fun school trip or camp. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

Dutch oven cuisine at its best! @ Pension Landscape Furano Theme: -2011 July Furano Lavender Trip Leaving Tomita Farm behind, we headed to a secluded pension not even listed on the navigation system. Pension Landscape Furano is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Upon arrival, we took a breather before the much-anticipated dinner time. The highlight was the main dish cooked in a Dutch oven! This is the specialty of the house! The slowly cooked chicken, onions, potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms were unbelievably sweet, and the chicken was incredibly tender and fell apart in your mouth. The homemade bread was soft and slightly sweet, making a delicious sandwich with the chicken and vegetables. The corn soup, filled with corn kernels, was creamy and rich. The salad with smoked salmon was also delightful. The wine served was from Furano, but both the white and red wines were a bit too sour for our liking. Nevertheless, the Dutch oven dish was incredibly filling (we shared a whole chicken between the two of us!), and we left satisfied. For dessert, we had Furano melon (different from Yubari melon). The Furano melon was refreshing, and although the seasoning was a bit strong, the tender meat and vegetables were incredibly delicious.
