Around Ishiyama, I found a nice Western-style restaurant on my way to the next destination. The appearance of the restaurant reminded me of the famous old restaurant "Koshon" in Minamihiragishi. I quickly parked in one of the three parking spaces in front of the restaurant. There was a counter in front and a few table seats on the left. I sat at the end of the counter and looked at the menu. They had a wide range of dishes from set meals to Western-style dishes, so it was hard to decide. I was planning to have pork cutlet curry, but at the top of the menu, there was a note saying "Takanori Hikomaro tried this" and it was pork cutlet spaghetti for 1200 yen. I decided to order that. It turned out to be a unique dish with a hint of curry at the beginning and a strong meat sauce flavor towards the end. It was delicious even though it was not exactly curry. It seems that Takatoshi Land (a TV show) had visited this place before. I enjoyed the meal, and I think next time I'll try the pork cutlet curry.

A bright yellow sign with green letters caught my eye, so I backed up to find the restaurant "Kitchen Le Lian" for lunch. The chic and bright Western-style interior was clean and had solid infection control measures in place. I decided to order the "Pork Cutlet Spaghetti" today, which I had been looking forward to. The menu offers a variety of Western dishes, including dishes like ginger pork. The salad that came first was fresh and crisp, with a perfectly balanced dressing. Then, the Pork Cutlet Spaghetti arrived, with a generous portion of deep brown meat sauce topping a crispy pork cutlet. The spaghetti was cooked just right, with a nice al dente texture. The pork cutlet was thick and perfectly fried, with delicious meat and batter. The rich and flavorful meat sauce had a hint of tomato acidity, perfectly complementing the pork cutlet and spaghetti. I might try the ginger pork next time, as I enjoy the Western-influenced flavors here. Thank you for the delicious meal!

At the end of the month, after finishing some errands around this area, it was lunchtime... I searched for the soup curry restaurant I was looking for, but unfortunately it was closed for the day. Since I was in the mood for curry, I searched again and found a place that served curry with tonkatsu. I decided to head there right away. The restaurant was relatively small, with counter seats and table seats, and it was clean and tidy. From the chef's photo proudly displayed and the certification, it was clear that the chef had a French background and held various qualifications. It was a one-man operation during lunch on weekdays. The chef had a calm and humble demeanor and was very polite. The menu included curry, pasta, fried dishes, and other simple and approachable Western dishes. The tonkatsu curry (with salad) priced at 1,090 yen had a classic look. The tonkatsu made with pork loin was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delicate and elegant umami flavor. The curry sauce was simple and classical in style. It had a mild flavor extended with wheat, a gentle broth, and a subtle originality with a buttery richness in the aftertaste. Even though I usually sweat when eating curry, I hardly broke a sweat this time. The curry had a mildness that even children could enjoy, yet it had a depth of flavor that adults would appreciate. It was the type of curry that slowly grows on you. The fluffy rice and the side salad were also satisfying. This restaurant, with its solid skills, would be a delight for the locals. The rare menu item, red yakisoba, also caught my interest.

I came to this restaurant that I had been curious about to try the Katsu Spaghetti for 1,090 yen. There are two parking spaces in front of the store. Inside, there are counter seats and table seats. We were told to choose our preferred seat, so we sat at a two-person table. After looking at the menu, we ordered the Katsu Spaghetti. It was served promptly. The Katsu Spaghetti comes with a small salad. The cutlet is made from pork loin and is fried crispy with a good thickness. The spaghetti is thin and al dente. It is lightly sautéed so the meat sauce sticks to it. The meat sauce contains ground meat, onions, and carrots, giving it a creamy flavor. It's not exactly to my taste, but it's delicious. I added some Tabasco halfway through for a different flavor, which I preferred. Next time, I might try the Katsu Curry or the Akayaki Soba.

On a certain weekday, I found myself at a restaurant named "Kitchen" located at Minami 17 Nishi 9, Chuo-ku. Upon arrival, I noticed that the restaurant had changed from the last time I visited, although the parking lot remained the same with space for 2-3 cars in front of the store. The interior layout was familiar but the atmosphere seemed more elegant, with a table area slightly hidden from the kitchen and a counter seating area. The background music was the midday news playing on the TV.
I was drawn to the photo of the Pork Cutlet Curry in the menu from previous reviews, but decided to try something different this time and ordered the "Ginger Pork Lunch (1080 yen)". The dish arrived with a garnish of leaves on top of the ginger pork, something new for me. I took a bite and was pleasantly surprised by the Western-style flavor. The dish consisted of thinly sliced pork loin with sautéed onions in a sweet and savory soy-based ginger sauce. The salad had purple onions and leafy greens with an Italian dressing. The miso soup had a good dashi base with wakame, and the rice was of good quality.
After finishing the meal, I was served a coffee from the machine. While the ginger pork was delicious, I couldn't help but feel a bit hesitant about the price of 1080 yen for lunch. Perhaps next time, I'll go for the Pork Cutlet Curry after all. Thank you for the meal.

After various trials and errors, I finally ended up at Kitchen Le Lien. The mild yet slightly spicy pork cutlet curry has a wheat element and a hint of sweetness in the roux. It was a sticky and delicious curry. If you only like spicy curry, this may not be suitable for you, but the roux is really tasty! Q: Will it taste even better if you let it sit for a while? A: No, it won't!! I didn't need to let it sit as it was already delicious, but it has a sticky and sweet taste, so it may divide opinions. The pork cutlet, made with pork from three sources, was delicious even though it was thinly sliced. I thought the price was a bit high, but choosing this was definitely the right decision. Hmm, this sticky, rich curry is so addictive and makes you want to come back for more. The mini salad also had a fresh and delicious taste. Overall rating 3.7, Taste 3.7, Service 3.3, Atmosphere 3.4, Value for money 3.3, Drinks not rated. Welcome. ---------- September 2018 ----------
There is a pretty nice restaurant along the line of South 17 West 9, on the East Tonden Street.
When you open the door, there is a counter seat in the back, and table seats on the left side, divided into two spaces.
There is a kitchen on the counter side, and the chef seems really kind. The atmosphere is very homely.
I tried the recommended plate of the week, the Katsu Curry, which was recommended in big letters.
It's like a French-style curry with a bright European roux. The brightness comes from the color of butter and fresh cream.
Wow, the sweetness is delicious. The roux has a rich taste and flavor, almost like the sweetness of Indian "Butter Chicken Curry".
The cutlet style is crispy and light, with a fine texture.
I thought there would be a lot on the plate because it's not very high, but it turned out to be just the right amount when combined with the rice.
The taste is consistent and deep, with no deviation.
It's a bit on the pricey side for lunch, but maybe it's worth trying the "Wine Set" for dinner, with the "Black Neapolitan" as a side.
I would like to spend time chatting with the chef. Thank you for the meal.

Reasonably priced authentic Western cuisine is available here. The recommended lunch dish is the Katsu Spaghetti. It was delicious, prepared by a skilled Escoffier chef!

Kushiro's Spaghetti with cutlet is a bit different. It's an Italian-style cutlet spaghetti. The cutlet is light and delicious.

I visited this restaurant for lunch during the Obon season in August. The restaurant is located along a route where I often walk while shopping, and I had been curious about it for a while. At first, they only had a sign up and didn't seem to be officially open, but recently I started seeing signs indicating that they were open. However, I'm not sure when they officially started operating. The location is a bit difficult to describe, so I won't go into details, but it's easy to find if you walk around with me. The restaurant has parking space for about 3 cars in front. The interior has a nice atmosphere and still smells new. There are about 4 tables for 2-4 people and a few counter seats, making it easy for solo female diners to enter. The staff consists of a friendly and cute waitress and a not so old chef. My companion ordered the Chef's Weekly Special Pasta Vongole Bianco (with salad) for 980 yen including tax, while I ordered the Seafood Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce (with salad) for the same price. I also added an iced coffee for an additional 200 yen. The salad served as a starter was very small, which was a bit disappointing. The Chef's Weekly Special Pasta Vongole Bianco was served with thin noodles and had a light taste with hints of basil and a touch of white wine. The Seafood Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce had a rich and creamy sauce, which was more like a French sauce rather than an Italian one. The seafood ingredients, however, had a slight fishy smell, which was a letdown. We ended the meal with the optional iced coffee. Overall, I found the restaurant a bit confusing in terms of its style and didn't feel like I got my money's worth. The prices seemed a bit high for what we got. Personally, I prefer more casual and affordable French restaurants for lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Sapporo, Chuo-ku, a couple of blocks west from the tram stop Seishugakuen-mae. It seems like it opened in January 2018. I happened to pass by and saw a sign saying it was open. There were no other customers inside. The interior was clean and tidy. They had about 10 lunch options such as spaghetti, curry, and hamburger. I always order the ginger pork set if it's on the menu. The ginger pork was priced at 1080 yen including tax, which is a bit on the higher side for lunch. When it was served, I was surprised by how beautifully arranged the ginger pork was. There were 4 thick slices of pork neatly folded and balanced. The taste was just right, not too strong, with a good amount of ginger flavor. The pork was thick but very tender and delicious. I felt like the portion of rice was a bit small compared to the meat. The coffee served after the meal sounded like it was freshly ground. The coffee was also very delicious. Thank you for the meal. When I talked to the female waitress who served me, she mentioned that the chef is French and they serve French course meals by reservation only in the evening. They are planning to open for regular dinner service from February. There was a congratulatory flower from "French Restaurant Kazama" displayed next to the register.

A small and cozy Western-style restaurant. There is a parking lot in front of the store, and the interior is a bit cramped from what I remember. I ordered the "Katsu Spaghetti", a menu often seen in Western-style restaurants in Hokkaido. Interestingly, it's not commonly found in other parts of Japan. The taste was well-balanced and neatly presented. The tonkatsu wasn't too thick, just the right size for this dish. Both the pasta and tonkatsu complemented each other without overpowering one another. This is my best Katsu Spaghetti based on my experience.
