During a business trip to Kushiro, I stopped by the Shimukappu PA (southbound) for a lunch break. I ate the onigiri that my wife made for me, and then I wanted to have dessert, so I visited the same place called "Fly Pan" at the same Shimukappu PA. You can use it without moving your car because it's located in the same area. I purchased the "Soft Serve Ice Cream Regular (350 yen)" of course. The soft serve ice cream delivered directly from the ranch was rich and delicious. It was a great dessert after the meal. Soft serve ice cream is the best after all.

Stamp received at the Michikantai Shimukappu Road Station. It was a hot day, so I decided to get some soft serve ice cream. There are many dining options within the road station, and I chose the one closest to me. When I looked at the menu, I was immediately drawn to the Coffee Jelly Parfait. I rang the bell to call the staff, and a handsome foreign waiter appeared. Since I couldn't speak English, I was a bit flustered, but he smoothly asked me what I would like. I ordered the Coffee Jelly Parfait (400 yen), which consisted of solid coffee jelly topped with soft serve ice cream. I ate them together, alternating between the two. The soft and creamy coffee jelly was not too sweet, complementing the slightly sweet soft serve ice cream perfectly. It was delicious. Next time, I'll try the Shimukappi Dorayaki Parfait. Rent a car and head towards Furano. Get off the highway at Shimukappu and stop by a roadside station. For lunch, try a place called Furaipan. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, but the takeout was open. I tried the deer meat curry. I asked for it to be mild for the kids, but it still had a nice kick to it. It had plenty of vegetables and was a delicious curry, costing 800 yen. I enjoyed it on the terrace, feeling like I was at a resort. Despite the temperature being close to 30 degrees, the low humidity made it feel cool in the shade. I had the deer meat burrito, which was filled with spicy salsa, beans, rice, and vegetables. It was very tasty and had no gamey taste, costing 780 yen.

I went to Flypan-san! Probably my first visit here? It's the second soft serve ice cream shop at the Okotanpa PA, known for its dairy milk soft serve ice cream. I got a mini soft serve for 250 yen in a cup. It was rich and creamy, just like milk. The sweetness was subtle. They had security guards to manage the crowd that day. On a regular afternoon, I raced from Sapporo towards Obihiro on the Hokkaido Expressway. The parking area with a shop on the Hokkaido Expressway seems to be the Shimukappu Parking Area. There are two shops in the downhill parking area, and one of them has a sign that says "Unforgettable, unique taste" with handmade Zangi. They also offer onigiri, pickled cucumbers, and shaved ice, but the soft serve ice cream seemed to be the popular choice with a familiar POP sign. So, I chose that one. It was from the North Plain Farm? Sho Jiki? Where is that? It seems to be from Okoppe Town in northern Hokkaido facing the Sea of Okhotsk. I remember hearing about it before. I couldn't visit when I went to Okoppe on a long-distance bus trip from Sapporo to Mombetsu. The menu offers soft serve ice cream and parfaits. The parfaits even have unusual options like Haskap berry parfait. Since I just had lunch in Kuriyama Town, I ordered a mini soft serve for 250 yen. It arrived in just the right size. The texture was smooth and creamy. You could tell they used high-quality milk. It was a successful choice to visit this place. There may not be many business opportunities in the short summer of Hokkaido, but this shop is a valuable place and the taste will leave a lasting memory for tourists stopping by for a break. Heading towards Obihiro on a highway bus, we made a 10-minute rest stop at the Okoppe PA, and naturally, my feet led me to the café. I had a Mocha Float (= ´∀´)ﾉ with a Cozy Float topped with chocolate sauce. The regular "Cozy Float" would have been just fine. The chocolate sauce was quite prominent, emphasizing the milkiness. The rich milk flavor was smooth and left a refreshing aftertaste. After being in the car for so long, it can be tiring, so a quick sugar boost was convenient.

Inside the PA, there are several shops offering sake, snacks, and sweets. There is a high percentage of women here, maybe because the staff are all women. I decided to go for soft serve ice cream. It was labeled as "Directly from North Plain Farm". It had a smooth and creamy texture, with the richness of milk and a refreshing aftertaste. It felt like eating sweet milk with the texture of sorbet. The portion was modest. There are various toppings and parfaits that are also popular.
