Furano business trip lunch break. Lunch in Kami-Furano town. Today, I visited the first dining room in the town. As part of the "One Omurice in each city and town in Hokkaido" movement, I decided to try the Omurice in Kami-Furano town, which I had never had before. Today's lunch is, of course, Omurice.
The first dining room. It has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned diner that used to be found in every town. It's calming, isn't it? It's important to be able to eat without feeling tense. I placed my order with the kitchen lady.
Me: I'll have the Omurice, please.
Restaurant: Sure, coming right up!
Might as well go for the large serving. Many times I've been disappointed by ordering a large serving at a restaurant, so I'm not expecting much. Due to my job, I only have one piece of bread for breakfast at 4:30 am. My stomach is growling, so ordering a large serving shouldn't be a sin.
Me: Um, I'll have the large serving, please.
Restaurant: Sure thing!
I've never seen a large Omurice like this in a long time. When I picked up the plate, it was heavy even considering the windbag effect. Anyway, let's confirm it by tasting it.
The appearance is that of a traditional diner Omurice. The omelette is well-done. The ketchup rice is not chicken rice but finely chopped ham. The moist and voluminous ketchup rice is hitting me like a body blow.
I finished it all. Maximum satisfaction from eating. I informed the male staff that I was ready to pay.
Staff: Um, that'll be 750 yen.
The large serving is an additional 100 yen, I see. I then reported to the kitchen lady, "I finished it all." To which she responded, "Oh, you ate everything?"
I asked the kitchen lady how much rice is in this Omurice (large serving). She replied, "I don't know. It depends on my mood. I also recommend the pork cutlet curry." I love pork cutlet curry, so I was very curious.
The local brand pork, Kamifura Pork, is not used due to cost reasons, but I hope they add it to the menu. An unexpectedly mega-sized serving. After this, I had dinner with my parents at home, and they were worried about my picky eating habits. (I didn't tell my parents about the Omurice.)
When I sent a photo of the Omurice to my partner via email, I got scolded. (Since my partner doesn't listen, please scold them on social media.) Plan your visits wisely. Thank you for the meal.
