I visited "Kōfuku Gyoza," which has opened in Shinagawa. It's a place where you can enjoy various types of gyoza made by a mother from Liaoning Province. They have a rich menu of creative fried gyoza, more than boiled gyoza. I started with a set for light drinking that included the classic Kōfuku gyoza and two side dishes, along with a bottled beer. At 1100 yen, it felt like a great deal. The Kōfuku gyoza had a high ratio of pork, and there was no garlic used; the seasoning of the filling was well-balanced. Their homemade chili oil was delicious, and I recommend adding plenty of it for a flavor twist. While I was contemplating what to try next from the menu, I was recommended a new item, the baked steamed gyoza. It’s an original recipe from the mother. The gyoza is wrapped in a dough made from fermented corn and wheat skin, which causes it to puff up. After being steamed, it's then baked. You might imagine it like a baked gyoza dog, which makes it easy to understand. It was very tasty, but quite large, so I might have overdone it by trying to eat three by myself. It was also great dipped in black vinegar and chili oil. I ended up feeling full, so I couldn’t try any of the other creative gyoza this time, but I definitely want to come back again to compare more of the options next time.

This evening, while enjoying some time alone, I helped an elderly person who was struggling with the strong wind, and they were very grateful. This made me feel really happy on my way home. I noticed a sign for "Kōfuku Gyoza" (Happy Gyoza), which I know and love from Chigasaki, though it seemed unrelated. It reminded me of a recommendation from my friend Tsukada, the Gyoza King, so I decided to give it a try. I went for the "Choi Nomis Set" for 1,050 yen, which included a highball and two side dishes, along with either grilled gyoza or boiled gyoza. The drinks offered included both draft and bottled beer, making it a great deal! The gyoza's dough was chewy, and even though there was no garlic used, the filling had a strong flavor. The homemade chili oil was delicious, and the black vinegar suggested for the boiled gyoza was a great way to change up the taste. I later moved to the counter, and as an apology for that, they gave me a voucher for three free gyoza for my next visit. The owner kept apologizing, but I assured them it was perfectly fine! I felt a bit bad about it instead. I want to try more gyoza, so I'll be going back again—happiness through gyoza!

A gyoza specialty restaurant opened in March 2024, run by a parent and child from China. The daughter prepares the food while the mother makes the gyoza dough from scratch. They start wrapping the gyoza right on the spot. The homemade chili oil is fragrant and delicious. The jumbo steamed and pan-fried gyoza are very popular and often sell out. It's said that the dough is fermented, making it similar to pork buns. Lunch is incredibly affordable, with a set that includes 10 pan-fried gyoza for 780 yen, along with salad, rice, and egg soup with fried bits. For dinner, you can get a meal for 1,000 yen that includes beer, 5 gyoza, and 2 mini appetizers, making it very cheap. You can also switch to cilantro gyoza for an additional 150 yen. The gyoza has a rich flavor and is juicy, with a high meat content, making it delicious enough to enjoy on its own without dipping in vinegar or sauce. There are various types of gyoza available, so it's recommended to come with a group and share different kinds. Thank you for the meal!

Suddenly appearing on the scene as a superstar in the world of gyoza! Despite being a relatively new establishment, it has quickly gained high praise, and I was curious about this place. My wife and I wandered in without a specific destination in mind, and every dish that came out was absolutely delicious. Generally, the gyoza does not contain garlic, while the garlic gyoza actually does. I will definitely return!

During my lunch break, I decided to stop by a restaurant I had saved while heading to the bank, and I ended up choosing Happy Gyoza for their pan-fried gyoza set. The place is small, with four tables and a few counter seats. When I entered, there was only one customer, and it was quite empty. The exterior of the restaurant emphasizes its Chinese cuisine, which might make some people hesitant to enter. Inside, there is one staff member in the kitchen and one on the floor, both of whom are Chinese. The pan-fried gyoza set comes with ten gyozas for 780 yen (excluding tax), which is quite reasonable. Though it seems they have trays, the salad, rice, and egg drop soup arrive gradually, with the main event—the gyoza—coming last. I wondered how it would taste, and when I tried it, I found that the gyoza were flavorful and juicy, with a generous amount of meat. They were so good that I didn't even need to dip them in vinegar. The staff member on the floor mentioned, "We make our own wrappers from scratch." Given that the gyoza skin is fairly large and well-shaped, I thought that rather than rolling each piece individually, they likely stretch the skin thin overall and then cut it down to size. Since there are other types of gyoza on the menu, I look forward to coming back one evening with a group to share and try a variety of dishes.

Near Hachobori, Tokyo. I learned about this place from a review by "Yukkyoshi" and decided to visit. This is a street-style Chinese dumpling restaurant that opened in March 2024. Considering the Kachoucho and Hachobori area, there are other dumpling places, but none seem to stand out. I was intrigued that this small Chinese restaurant is called "Happiness Dumplings." ◇ Lunch Menu ◇ - Fried Dumpling Set: 858 yen - Boiled Dumpling Set: 880 yen - Wonton Set: 935 yen - Ramen Set: 935 yen - Dandan Noodle Set: 950 yen 【 ORDER PLACED 】 - Boiled Dumpling Set: 880 yen 【 IMPRESSIONS 】 Shortly after ordering, a salad arrived first. It was just a regular mix of cabbage and cucumber, but the dressing was delicious. Next, the boiled dumplings appeared. ▪️ Happiness Point ❶ → There are about 8 dumplings, which is great. ▪️ Happiness Point ❷ → The juicy meat fills with amazing flavors. ▪️ Happiness Point ❸ → Adding Chinese black vinegar to the soup makes it even tastier, and using homemade chili oil doubles the deliciousness. It pairs perfectly with rice. ▪️ Happiness Point ❹ → The miso soup has plenty of tofu, making it a fulfilling meal. Eating the dumplings truly brings happiness! Thank you for the meal! m(_ _)m ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー ▪️ Location: About a 4-minute walk from Hachobori Station, within walking distance from Kachoucho. ▪️ Entry Time: 12:30 PM ▪️ Duration of Stay: About 25 minutes ▪️ Situation: No wait time ▪️ Number of Visitors: 1 ▪️ Service: Standard operation ▪️ Atmosphere: Cozy with a not overly Chinese feel. ▪️ Serving Time: About 6 minutes ▪️ Cost Performance: The boiled dumplings are more than I expected. ▪️ Score at Visit: 3.06 ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

I visited this restaurant twice. During my first visit, I ordered the pan-fried dumplings. They came with 10 pieces, which felt like a great deal! However, I personally wish they would add garlic-filled dumplings to the lunch menu. On my second visit, I tried the steamed and pan-fried dumplings. These felt more like a light snack rather than a main dish. The skins were fluffy, so they didn’t quite pair well with rice. The cooking skills and service were excellent, so I'm looking forward to what they will offer in the future!

On June 27, 2024, the previous restaurant, known for its delicious fresh tuna, closed down. After a while, this new place opened up. I invited a colleague and went there for lunch. We entered at 12:18 PM, and there were four customers ahead of us. We informed the staff we were a party of two and took a seat at a central table. There were five types of set meals available. I ordered the grilled gyoza set for 858 yen. It was served about 10 minutes later. The gyoza wasn't crispy as I had hoped, which may be a matter of personal preference. Also, there was no garlic in it, giving it a somewhat dense texture. The staff, including those who assisted us, were very earnest, which left a good impression. Overall, I was satisfied and full—thank you for the meal!

The gyoza was incredibly delicious! I've tried almost all the gyoza in this area, and this was the best for me. The set, which includes gyoza, a small dish, and a drink, costs 1,050 yen, and I could order it multiple times. The natto gyoza was surprisingly tasty. I want to go again!

I couldn't get into the restaurant I was aiming for as it was past last order time, so I wandered around and found this place. As I was peeking inside, a cheerful lady called me in. The Night B set comes with garlic fried rice, five gyoza, and soup. The garlic fried rice was a bit on the smaller side. The gyoza had a chewy skin and were stuffed full, making them delicious. However, the soup was too salty, so I left some behind.

Visit Date: May 2024 (No. 5394) 1. Purpose of Visit: The aim of the visit was to scout for new restaurant offerings in the New River area, specifically for lunch options. 2. Restaurant Information: - Genre according to Tabelog: Gyoza, Chinese Cuisine, Izakaya - Opened on March 19, 2024 - A gyoza specialist run by individuals from Northern China (possibly Dalian) - Business Hours: 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM - Closed: Possibly no days off - Seating Capacity: 10 seats 3. Crowds and Atmosphere: - I visited around 11:30 AM on a holiday, where there were 4 customers ahead of me and none after. - The ambiance was cozy, resembling a small neighborhood Chinese restaurant. 4. Service: - The service was friendly and followed a standard protocol. 5. Ordered Items: - Gyoza Set for 858 yen. On this holiday, many places in the area were closed for business, so despite it being a somewhat last-minute choice, I felt a sense of regret upon arrival. Upon seating and receiving a salad topped with pickled ginger, I felt another wave of regret! When the hot white rice and seaweed soup arrived, while the soup was good, the rice lacked the freshness I hoped for, prompting yet another internal exclamation of "I really messed up!" At this point, I was only wondering how I would write a review about this experience. However, everything changed when the main dish, the "fried gyoza," was served! For a set meal priced at 858 yen, including soup and salad, along with free refills of white rice, I expected around 6 pieces of gyoza. To my surprise, there were 10 properly sized "fried gyoza" on my plate. I thought I could work with this positive angle. After taking a bite, the handmade skin was chewy, and each gyoza was bursting with tasty meat juice. I wore a smile, realizing this is why I love discovering new restaurants. I happily finished my meal! *Note: Free refills of white rice.* 6. Summary: After returning home, I checked the menu and found that there are 16 varieties of "fried gyoza," reaffirming that this is indeed a gyoza specialty restaurant as claimed. I didn't try any other dishes, but with gyoza like this, it's a place where one could definitely find happiness! (Laughs) Thank you for the wonderful meal!
