On June 18, 2022 (Sat), during the 3rd day of our early summer trip to Hokkaido, we visited the "Pesticide-Free Vegetable Saturday Market" held every Saturday from May 7 to mid-November near Otaru Station on the Otaru Toudoori Shopping Street. We specifically went to see "Takishita Farm (Beekeeping Farm)." The Otaru Toudoori Shopping Street is the second oldest arcade shopping street in Hokkaido, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2021. Despite being just a few minutes' walk from Otaru Station, it has a charming and pleasant atmosphere. There is no parking lot, so it's better to use nearby coin parking. We always use the Otaru Station Square Parking Lot when visiting Otaru Station. We found out about this morning market because we called "Takishita Farm" in advance. We usually buy their honey at "Mushroom Kingdom" during our Hokkaido trips, but this time it was difficult to stop by there, so we inquired if there were other places to buy their products. We were informed that their products are only sold at "Mushroom Kingdom" and "Zip Suzuki" (Suzuki Western Goods Store) in Otaru City. Fortunately, we were told that they would be participating in the morning market on the Otaru Toudoori Shopping Street during our trip, so we decided to buy directly from the producer. Among the many shops in the arcade street, we found "Takishita Farm" at the far end. Besides the natural honey we were looking for, they also had eggs, pudding, fruits (blueberries), and vegetables on display. The owner's mother of "Takishita Beekeeping Farm" was at the shop that day, and she kindly explained about the honey, which made us happy. We purchased Acacia honey (600g) for 2,400 yen, Summer Multiflower honey (600g) for 1,800 yen, honey pudding, and egg pudding. We initially bought only the honey but then went back to buy the homemade pudding that caught our eye. We wanted to eat it right away, so we asked for spoons, which oddly turned out to be from Yakult. There were tables and chairs set up in the arcade street, so we enjoyed our pudding there. The pudding had a gentle flavor with the aroma of eggs, and it was delicious. The honey pudding had honey instead of caramel, giving it a special touch. Thank you for the meal.

The place is located next to the now closed "Fogotsu Hot Spring." You need to call ahead before visiting. I bought eggs here - 10 for 400 yen. The family runs a beekeeping farm based in Hokkaido, moving around. I purchased Hokkaido natural honey "Autumn Hundred Flower Honey." I usually buy Acacia honey, but I liked the name of this one, thinking it contains the nectar of many Hokkaido flowers. It has a rich aroma and flavor. Thank you for the meal!

I have been participating in a joint purchase of chicken eggs with my friends. These eggs are from free-range chickens raised in Yoichi Town. They are raised with care for their feed, resulting in a quite light flavor. My own father used to say, "In the past, eggs fed with grass, bran, rice, and leftover vegetables were cheap, but now they seem to sell for a high price." Especially the vegetables here are grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The vegetables are also sold at the Otaru Todoroki Vegetable Market, where they also sell homemade chiffon cakes. I have heard that the wife is currently managing and operating the farm. I would like to support them and I usually purchase around 10 eggs once a month. I am also interested in visiting the vegetable market in Otaru. Thank you for the delicious meal! (^^♪
