Following the Hakata Station underground store, the second Fukuoka location of Super Fast Fresh Fish Sushi, Haneda Market, has opened at the Hakata Riverain Mall. Despite having called multiple times since the opening, I could not get through. So I decided to visit the store in person, and it turned out they were operating normally. Upon asking, I found out their phone lines were down and they weren't taking reservations at all! It would have been nice if they put up a notice in the store or announced it on social media or their website. The space at this location is much smaller than the Hakata Station underground store, and there are no special recommendation menus, which means the selection is quite limited. To enter, you have to sign in on a waiting sheet, and although there were more than ten groups waiting on the sheet, there was no one actually waiting in the store, allowing us to enter smoothly, which was amusing. For the opening celebration, they had a special priced promotion where all drinks, including Sapporo Black Label draft beer and lemon highballs, were just 100 yen each, no matter how many you ordered! Unfortunately, the fried puffer fish, another opening special, was sold out. There were no starters served either. We started with a toast using the Sapporo Black Label draft, which was delicious. Ordering is done through a mobile ordering system, and you need to add them as a friend on LINE to place your order—quite funny! The nigiri sushi uses red vinegar, giving it a brownish color. First, we had a fox roll (Inari sushi) for 90 yen, which is a creative rolled version of Inari sushi and was tasty! Next came the tuna akami nigiri for 330 yen, featuring thick, high-quality pieces that were delicious. Then we tried the atemaki (roll sushi) called torotaku maki for 390 yen, which was reasonably priced and perfect as a snack with drinks. The tekka maki (tuna roll) for 500 yen had thick, high-quality tuna as well and was equally delicious. Our total bill was around 2000 yen. While I previously thought Haneda Market was a bit pricey, this location is quite affordable and tasty! Cheap but delicious! Low prices are the best, and affordability is justice! Highly recommended!

It's been a while since my last post, and I had wanted to share a lot, but I ended up too drunk to do so… I'm sorry… Today, I’d like to introduce a sushi restaurant near Nakasu-Kawabata Station, located on the second basement floor. They specialize in tuna, so as a big fan of fatty tuna, I thought, "Oh? Shall we have a little competition?" and went inside. They open at 4 PM and have a happy hour, so I started with a draft beer. (I won’t mention what time I arrived.) While enjoying Sapporo draft beer, I followed the usual sushi restaurant flow and ordered a sashimi platter with three kinds. And then... Ahhh!!! I got namero (a type of minced fish)! Yes, namero. Along with the beer, I enjoyed tuna, salmon, and what I believe was amberjack (or possibly graduated to yellowtail). Hmm? Hmmmmm?? Hmmmmmmmmmm??? The amberjack (or yellowtail?) and salmon were delicious, but the tuna, wowwww!!!! (Total defeat). The namero was also exquisite!! Next, I ordered "Mitsuzakura" straight rocks and some sushi: fatty tuna, squid, and horse mackerel. Yikes, it was tasty (My kid is really into ninjas, and here I am, going along with “gozaru!”). After that, I ordered more tuna, my favorite akagai (surf clam), and the chef recommended “Yaito katsuo.” Yaito? First I’ve heard of it! After trying it, I discovered it was truly amazing!! There was no distinct fishy smell in the katsuo, and it had a sweetness to it, reminiscent of the taste between fatty and medium-fatty tuna. As I was starting to feel my thumb (from drinking) twitch a bit, I’ll end my report here. Wait, not a report, but a "re-port??" Yes, I’m currently indulging in my second piece of tuna. Tehepero (so outdated). So, the budget is a bit flexible. (Hey!) By the way, my assessment of the drinks is a little lukewarm; they do have my favorite imo shochu (sweet potato shochu), but the selection is limited… Next time I come, I hope they have Kirikubo, Akakutoba, Moriizo, or Ginban 50… (a bit demanding, aren't I?). Anyway, the akagai is sweet and delicious, so if you're curious, please be sure to try it! *Note: There’s one mistake in the brands mentioned. Alright, kids, see if you can spot it!! (You’re not watching, huh?)

I went to a sushi restaurant located right at the exit of the subway near Riverain for the first time! There were open tables, so I took a seat at one and started with a draft beer. As an appetizer, I ordered tuna sashimi! The tuna was affordable, and this sushi place offers great value for money. The taste was delicious, and the sushi was good too.

There's a sushi restaurant on the second basement level of Hakata Riverain. I had the impression that "Riverain = tourist prices," but during lunch, there were lunch sets available for under 1500 yen. You can order by scanning the QR code at your table. For the set meal, you can choose the rice portion size (small, regular, or large), all at the same price. The freshly cooked, steaming hot rice was truly delicious!

I had the Takashima Bowl and chawanmushi for lunch. The bowl was a seafood bowl topped with sesame sauce, and it was delicious! The chawanmushi is one of the options you can choose with the lunch bowl set, and you can also select drinks. You can place your order via smartphone or directly with the staff at this restaurant.

This sushi restaurant offers reasonably priced fresh fish, including Hon Maguro from Takashima and seafood from the Genkai-Nada sea. It is quietly located in the basement of the Riverain building, directly connected to Nakasu-Kawabata Station. The sushi is prepared by skilled chefs, and you can order from a single piece. There are also many affordable set options available. Here’s what I had: • [Weekday Special] Assorted sushi (10 pieces) for ¥1680 • Assorted shellfish for ¥620 • Takashima Tuna Bowl for ¥3600 • Hon Tuna Yukke for ¥980. The tuna selection was fantastic, allowing me to enjoy various cuts! During Happy Hour (4:00 PM to 8:00 PM), drinks are offered at a great price. It’s an easily accessible hidden gem, even for solo diners!

"Fresh Bluefin Tuna" – After participating in a study session in Hakata on August 25 at 9:30 AM, I headed out for some afternoon drinks. If I had to pick three favorites, I would say "tuna, small mackerel, and simmered clam." For two choices, I would go with "tuna and small mackerel." And if I could only choose one, while Jiro-san would pick "small mackerel," I would choose "tuna." So, I visited "Genkai Honmaguro Takashima" for the first time at #Hakata Riverain. I believe the tuna is farmed from Takashima in Nagasaki. You can enjoy three types of genuine bluefin tuna for just 1,078 yen. It's reassuring to know that they provide a stable supply all year round. Additionally, I indulged in a variety of blue fish and during the summer, I enjoyed their sesame mackerel. Personally, I love that this sushi restaurant offers small mackerel. It’s a wonderful spot where you can quickly enjoy sushi. #sushi #FukuokaGourmet #FukuokaSushi #FukuokaLunch #TakashimaTuna #TakashimaMaguro

I was looking for a place to relax a bit around lunchtime when I passed by a restaurant and noticed their limited service lunch featuring sesame fish set meal and fried horse mackerel set meal. I was tempted by the fried horse mackerel, but since I had been walking in the heat, I decided on the refreshing sesame fish set meal! They offer a second serving of rice (one bowl) and options for larger portions, which is a nice touch. The main dish of sesame fish, along with the fish broth, made for a fantastic accompaniment that could easily lead to eating too much rice. Of course, everything was delicious. Additionally, the red miso soup had clams in it, which added to its taste. Even though it was lunchtime, the place wasn’t too crowded, so it might be a hidden gem!

After visiting the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, I went to the Hakata Mitsukoshi, which houses the Asian Art Museum (I apologize, it was actually Takashimaya, more precisely the Riverain Building). It’s a relatively new and beautiful building that feels more like a commercial office area than a department store. Instead of a restaurant area, there are a few eateries in the basement, and there was a designated smoking area as well. I had sushi, choosing individual pieces instead of a set. The rice wasn't seasoned with red vinegar like in some styles but was more in the Kansai style. Even during lunchtime, the place wasn't too crowded, which was nice. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant for lunch before watching a performance at Hakataza and made a reservation. I arrived a little early, but the restaurant was already open and there was a welcoming note on our reserved table. I enjoyed the most popular sushi set along with chawanmushi (steamed egg custard). The taste and the thoughtful service made it a wonderful experience.

In the evening, I wanted to go to Motunabe Ichifuji, but they told me they could only accommodate me at 10 PM, so I gave up and wandered around Riverain by myself from 4 PM. I looked around in the basement, but since I had come from the Kanto area, I skipped the sushi thinking it would be uninteresting. However, I ended up really hungry and went into a place that served fresh mackerel—it was absolutely delicious, with no fishy smell at all. I ended up eating four pieces of the raw mackerel! I could have just eaten all mackerel. I ordered normally, not realizing that they had a happy hour through LINE notifications. When I noticed the happy hour, I switched to the happy hour beer, and they served it in a big mug… I wish I had caught that sooner! All the other sushi was also fresh and substantial. If there were a place like this nearby, I would want to go regularly just for the raw mackerel!

There is a sushi restaurant located right at the entrance of Riverain from Nakasu-Kawabata Station. It used to be called "Haneda Ichiba," but it seems to have been renovated and renamed. While the sushi on the lunch menu caught my eye, I was drawn to the "Today's Sesame Fish Set" instead. When I asked what kind of fish it was, I learned it was "Hamachi," so I decided to order it. Allergies can be quite troublesome. (⌒-⌒; ) ◆ Today's Sesame Fish Set (1,210 yen including tax, card payment accepted) * Presentation is beautiful, as seen from the top. ^^ ◆ The "Hamachi" was thicker than I expected, with seven pieces served. * The sesame sauce tasted great, pairing well with the rice. ♪ It would likely go well with sake too. (^◇^;) ◆ There was a simmered dish that featured either "Buri" or "Hamachi," along with daikon radish. * The large cuts of fish and the head portion, along with two pieces of daikon, were well-seasoned and delicious. I really enjoy this kind of simmered dish, and it goes perfectly with the rice. ♪ ◆ The red miso soup contained "shijimi" clams, providing a nice broth. ◆ The rice was shiny and tasty. The photo shows the regular portion, but they offer free refills and large portions. ◆ The sesame fish as the main dish and the simmered dish were both delicious, and at 1,210 yen, it felt like a good deal. ^^ If I were to wish for something more, since it's a "sesame fish" dish, it would be nice to have a broth served on the side so that I could enjoy it as a "dashi chazuke" as well. The location is also convenient, and during my visit, there were four customers ahead of me and two who came after, making it a potential hidden gem for lunch at the moment.

A Little Drink Connected to the Subway - "Takashima" at Riverain Located on the basement level 2 of Riverain, just inside from the subway station side, is Takashima. While it's a sushi restaurant, they also offer a variety of other dishes. With a QR code on the table, you can place a mobile order and take advantage of their happy hour, where draft beer is half price at just 302 yen. They also have a happy hour set for 1,100 yen that includes sake and sashimi featuring kanpachi and grilled isaki. As expected, the food is delicious. My total bill came to 1,402 yen, and it's convenient to hop back on the subway right after a quick drink. I visited Takashima, where you can enjoy genuine bluefin tuna caught in Nagasaki, located in the basement of Rive-Lain. It's a sushi restaurant situated right at the exit of Nakasu-Kawabata Station in the Hakata Rive-Lain Mall, having just opened on March 16 of this year. The interior is clean and creates a calm atmosphere. ^_^ On this day, I ordered the Barachirashi-don (1,760 yen). During lunch hours, you can get one side dish for free, so I chose udon. When the bowl arrived, it was beautifully presented with an array of fish on vinegared rice, which was quite appetizing. ^_^ The shiitake mushrooms were well-seasoned, and I found that a small amount of soy sauce was sufficient. The colorful assortment made it look vibrant. I was also pleased that both red and medium fatty tuna were included. ^_^ The udon was typical of Fukuoka, lacking in firmness. The restaurant aims to provide authentic sushi at reasonable prices, so I decided to try some a la carte items as well. You can order nigiri sushi starting from just one piece. The sushi combines local Kyushu seafood with Edo-style red vinegar rice. I ordered "Namazake" (raw mackerel) for 198 yen. When you think of Fukuoka, it's all about the raw mackerel, and this was not marinated, resulting in a fresh and delightful texture. ^_^ Next was "Kanpachi" (amberjack) for 242 yen. The freshness gave it a wonderful crunch! I also tried the torched salmon—though I forgot the price—since it’s not typically Edo-style, but it's a personal favorite of mine, so I had to have it, haha. I visited on a Sunday and, fortunately, I had made a reservation, so I was able to enter smoothly, but the place was fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation. ^_^ Genkai Hon-Maguro Takashima 092-281-2513 Address: 3-1 Shimokawabata-machi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Hakata Rive-Lain Mall B2F Hours: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Last order 2:30 PM) 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Last order 7:30 PM) On weekends and holidays: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Last order 7:30 PM) #sushi #lunch #EdoSushi #RiveLain #NakasuKawabata #FukuokaPrefecture #gourmet #BarachirashiDon #tuna #udon #GenkaiTunaTakashima

I visited a sushi restaurant located in the basement of Hakata Riverain. I enjoyed a sushi lunch and added goodies like fatty tuna and sea urchin. However, I felt that the fatty tuna slices were a bit too thin, which was a little disappointing. As for the taste, it was generally good. I didn't find the price point to be particularly appealing. I probably won't return for a second visit.

A sushi restaurant that’s open for lunch on Sundays, and it’s reasonably priced. Since it's located inside a department store, the interior is nice and clean, which is satisfying. I searched for a delicious sushi restaurant that's family-friendly and made a reservation. The adults ordered the most popular option, the special 7-piece sushi set with a roll (around 2500 yen), while the children had a kids' set that included a natto roll and an omelet. We also ordered a great value set with 6 pieces of sushi, including tuna's lean, medium fatty, and fatty parts, for 1800 yen. The quality of the sushi is high, and considering the prices, it feels like a fantastic bargain. The rice is seasoned with red vinegar, which is rare in Fukuoka, making it feel even more special. The kids were satisfied with their 500-yen kids' set. I’m happy to find a place that is affordable, especially as sushi prices keep rising. In this context, a restaurant with price settings like this is quite rare. They also provided a parking voucher for 2 hours at the Riverain parking lot, which is a big plus for families.

It's so open that I can be seen from the corridor, and I can't help but feel guilty ordering a beer in the afternoon, haha. I had the set menu with red fish and white fish varieties. The balance between the rice and the toppings was very good, and everything was delicious. Since it's located in a commercial building, I'm not sure about the restaurant's policy, but I wouldn't mind the chef handling the food with their bare hands; I guess that's just how things are nowadays?

The sushi rice is made with red vinegar, showcasing its authentic style. For someone like me who loves a good meal, the three types of sushi are simply irresistible. It’s fantastic that they offer sake from Akita, specifically Yamamoto. They also have two types of soy sauce, a sweet one from Kyushu and a regular one, which is thoughtful of them. I initially just intended to have a small bite, but everything was so delicious that I ended up ordering a lot of both sushi and sake!

At the restaurant located on the second basement floor of the Anpanman Museum, there is a kids' menu available. After exiting the station, I noticed something I didn't know about: a limited-time "Senbero Festival" at Canal City, Kawabata Shopping Street, and Riverain. Among them, I found a Japanese restaurant serving chilled sake, so I decided to go in without waiting for my colleagues. I ordered a "senbero" set, which included one type of appetizer, two kinds of sashimi, and chilled sake. After placing my order, I thought about getting a couple of sushi pieces, but I managed to hold back. The braised fish was delicious, and while the sashimi was rich in fat, I noticed a slight fishy smell. I tried to mask it with lemon, but my taste buds were honest. The sake was filled to about a third of the masu (square cup), and at 1,000 yen, it was pretty cheap. Thank you for the meal!
