On a regular day in the Sapporo Odori area, along the streetcar street for lunch, what should we eat? While heading towards Tanukikoji, I happened to see this sign. Yes, let's have some oxtail soup! I went down the stairs and entered the restaurant around 12:10. The spacious raised seating area was almost full, with only about 3 seats available at the counter. It seems like they are regaining the bustling atmosphere from before the pandemic. (Perhaps due to increased demand from the relocation of the Gyuutan no Warai-san?) Today, I came here because I wanted to have oxtail soup, so I ordered the cost-effective Gyuutan Chahan set. Compared to six months ago, all menu items have increased by 100 yen, which is understandable given the current situation. When I placed my order, they said they would need some time until the previous customer, who had also ordered Gyuutan Chahan, was served. I didn't quite understand why, but I just replied with an okay. A while later, two customers sat next to me and ordered the Gyuutan set meal. The Gyuutan set meal was served to them first. Ah, I see, it's a different operation process, I understand now. The ladies next to me were smoking heavily, which can be unpleasant for those who dislike it. I hope they can make it non-smoking during lunchtime at least. Or at least, I hope they can make efforts for better separation. The food was served about 20 minutes after ordering, and the oxtail soup looked delicious as always. I took a bite and it was delicious! The green onions were crunchy, and overall it was very tasty. The fried rice was a bit oily and slightly salty. Eating it alternately with the oxtail soup was a great combination. The precious amount of Gyuutan was enjoyable to eat, adjusting the timing. All of this for 900 yen was great value for money, very satisfying. Ah, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal! I missed the lunch peak time, but on my way out, there was already a line of young people, not just office workers, forming.

When you want to eat beef tongue at a good price, this is a recommended restaurant. You can get 4 slices of red tongue with grated yam and a large serving of rice for only 1400 yen. The red tongue is tough but flavorful, and the oxtail soup is delicious as well. Just be careful as the stairs are steep. Thank you for the meal. (*´ω`)

When I had beef tongue set meal at another restaurant, I was impressed again by the deliciousness of oxtail soup. However, 2,500 yen for lunch is quite expensive. At that time, I remembered this beef tongue fried rice set, which I believe came with oxtail soup for 800 yen. So, I decided to visit the restaurant. I arrived around 12 o'clock and there was one customer already there. I sat at the counter on the opposite side, and ordered the beef tongue fried rice set. As I remembered, it was 800 yen. During lunchtime, more customers started coming in. Surprisingly, out of 7 customers, 6 ordered the beef tongue fried rice set. It was clear that everyone knew what was good here. Soon, the beef tongue fried rice arrived, and it looked delicious. The fried rice was fluffy and flavorful, and the thinly sliced beef tongue was also tasty. Finally, the long-awaited oxtail soup arrived, and it was indeed delicious. The green onions were crunchy, and the oxtail meat was tender. To be able to enjoy all this for 800 yen is a great deal. It was so delicious! I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

The beef tongue sashimi, 3 slices for 900 yen, is cooked in two separate rounds, which is a nice touch. In total, you get 6 slices of meat. The last 2 slices are seasoned with a spicy sauce, thick and cooked perfectly. Enjoy it with a large bowl of tail soup and barley rice for a great beef tongue meal starting from lunchtime. It's quite good!

During a health check-up on an empty stomach, I found myself drawn to a sign advertising lunch menus with the word "gyutan" (beef tongue). I entered the restaurant, which had a counter and a raised seating area, as I enjoy this kind of atmosphere. I ordered the gyutan set meal with 6 pieces of beef tongue (1,800 yen). The soup and barley rice were excellent. The staff were also very friendly, and I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied with my lunch. I would love to visit again in the future.

Visited a beef tongue restaurant located in the basement of a building in Nishi 7-chome. It was after 1:30 PM, but there were several other customers, indicating that it is a popular spot. The lunch menu offers a reasonable price for the red tongue set meal, where you can enjoy beef tongue and oxtail soup. The side dishes of pickled vegetables from Nozawa and spicy miso are flavorful and make the rice go down even better than expected. It was very delicious. Red tongue set meal for 4 pieces for 1,100 yen.

Due to the high price of beef tongue, many beef tongue specialty stores have had to raise their prices. However, this restaurant is trying their best with beef tongue set meals starting from 900 yen. I decided to visit after a long time, reminiscing about the old days when Sapporo was known for beef tongue, with this restaurant and Gyu-suke near WINS Sapporo Urban Building being the renowned spots. I arrived around 12:20 PM and descended the stairs to enter the spacious restaurant. There were 3 groups of 6 customers already seated. I was seated at the counter. Looking at the menu, I saw they offered beef tongue and "akatan" (a type of beef tongue from the tip of the tongue, known for its slightly tougher texture). Intrigued by the akatan, I ordered the akatan set with 4 slices. Despite the usual long wait at beef tongue specialty stores, the oxtail soup arrived promptly, followed by rice and the akatan. I sprinkled some shichimi spice on the side plate and dug in. It was delicious! The slightly tougher texture of the akatan was well-balanced, and the rice, cooked to my liking, was a perfect match. The counter service was typical, serving the dishes in two stages, although I was still working on my second piece of meat. The oxtail soup was also tasty! The combination of flavors for 900 yen is a steal! The crispy green onions were a nice touch. The portion of rice was generous, so opting for 4 pieces instead of 3 was a wise choice. I managed to finish all the rice. The oxtail soup was a great accompaniment to the rice, and at 900 yen for 3 pieces, it was satisfying. In the midst of the beef tongue price hike, this is great value for 1,100 yen! Despite the tough times, I want to support this longstanding restaurant. The beef tongue fried rice set with oxtail soup for 800 yen is also appealing! I might try that next time. Ah, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

On a regular day for lunch. Probably no parking lot. Located in the basement of a building. Beef tongue set with 3 pieces (6 slices) for 1800 yen. The beef tail soup and barley rice are generous in portion. Grated yam is served separately for 200 yen. The beef tongue has a good balance of chewiness and tenderness, and the seasoning goes well with the barley rice. The tail soup has a slightly strong pepper flavor and contains plenty of tail meat, so even with 3 pieces of tongue, you will feel full. Rice refills are free, and it comes with grated yam and pickles. Compared to the many "Negi" restaurants in the Tokyo area, it was delicious.

Today's lunch was at Kitafukuhito in Nishi 8-chome. The restaurant is located on the basement floor of a building. It can be a bit nerve-wracking going to a new place when it's underground because you can't see inside. The low ceiling inside gives a slightly claustrophobic feeling, which I personally find a bit uncomfortable. There are counter seats and table seats in a raised area inside. I considered the raised area but since it wasn't a sunken kotatsu style, I opted for the counter seats. I had already looked at the menu outside, so I placed my order right away. I ordered the beef tongue set (3 pieces) and added tororo as an extra dish. The first 2 pieces were served in about 5 minutes, followed by the remaining piece a few minutes later. I thought they would wait a bit longer to serve them all together if they were aiming for freshness, so it seemed a bit unnecessary to serve them separately. The tongue had pre-cut slices, making it easy to eat, which I liked. As expected from the "upper tongue," the meat was tender with a chewy texture, which was delicious. However, personally, I felt it needed some salt as it lacked flavor other than the meat. The oxtail soup, which I usually leave untouched until it cools down, had a strong and lingering taste here. It was surprisingly good, and I ended up finishing the whole thing, which doesn't happen often.

On a certain weekday, I happened to come across a beef tongue izakaya that was open for lunch in Chuo Ward, located at Minami 1-jo Nishi 7-chome. The restaurant, situated in the basement of a building, had a counter and a raised seating area. It was bustling with nearby office workers, and smoking was allowed, making it a bit smoky at times. The background music was faint, playing from a TV broadcasting a news program, along with the noise from the ventilation fan. I decided to try the Beef Tongue Fried Rice Set with Soup (800 yen) instead of the advertised Beef Tongue 3-piece set for 800 yen. The fried rice was different from Chinese-style fried rice, with a slightly sweet and savory Japanese-style sauce that was quite salty for my taste. The rice had a slight firmness to it, and it was served with finely sliced beef tongue pieces equivalent to about 1.5 pieces, along with pickled vegetables. Unfortunately, the tail soup, filled with a large amount of thinly sliced green onions, was overly salty. There were also groups of customers at a large table, engaging in lively conversations. Without going into details, I felt that both the restaurant and customers could benefit from being more aware of the need for better COVID-19 prevention measures. Today, Rie and I took a rare weekday off and went out for lunch! Last night's conversation went like this: "I feel like having yakiniku~!" "Oh, I heard that Ikinari Steak is really good, wanna go there?" "Don't you want to eat gyutan (beef tongue)?" In the end, we decided to go with whatever we felt like eating today. We met up at Odori and visited the restaurant we had both checked out last night, and settled on gyutan✨Even though we had passed by the restaurant many times before, we had never been inside. The prices were reasonable too! We shared the Akatan set meal for 800 yen and the Jotan set meal for 1500 yen, splitting it between the two of us. The staff took our feelings into consideration and served it properly divided into two portions✨Thank you for your thoughtfulness. We will definitely go back!

Today, after finishing my seminar presentation, I went to eat beef tongue at Kitafukuhito to celebrate. It was pouring rain outside, so I bought an umbrella and headed there from Tanukikoji. Kitafukuhito is located underground and has a very calm atmosphere inside. I ordered the beef tongue set meal (8 pieces of beef tongue, barley rice, oxtail soup, pickles) and also added tororo and sujipon. The beef tongue was incredibly tender and delicious. Eating it with the barley rice and tororo was amazing. The sujipon, which I tried for the first time, had a taste that was addictive and incredibly delicious. Everything was delicious. The best!! I will definitely go back.

I didn't know! There's a good beef tongue restaurant in such a place☆ As autumn begins, I was planning to go to a yakitori restaurant with my hungry friend after passing through the bustling Odori Park, but then I saw a beef tongue sign! And it looked delicious! So we changed our plans and went in. Looking at the menu, it was easy to choose as they specialize in beef tongue dishes. My friend ordered the beef tongue set with 3 slices, and I ordered 3 and a half slices a la carte with rice and grated yam, and also ordered some sake. I've noticed that many places in Hokkaido have local sake lately. Hokkaido sake tends to be on the spicier side, which doesn't usually suit my taste, but this time I tried a fresh sake and it was good, with a smooth taste that went well with the beef tongue. As for the beef tongue, it was served sizzling hot in the same style as the restaurant we usually go to, and the skillful cutting of the meat was noticeable and delicious. The side dishes were basic, and the oxtail soup had a rich and tasty broth. When you're really hungry, this is a good place to go for lunch. Personally, I would like to come back to this restaurant and have some beef tongue with a glass of sake while watching a shooting star, haha.

I entered the suspicious building and went down to the underground. The stairs were low and it really felt like I was diving down... I arrived at 11:40 and there were 1 couple and 1 solo diner at the counter. I ordered the beef tongue set with 4 pieces for 1,800 yen. The beef tongue was served in two portions and it was really delicious. The knife skills were impressive, cutting the meat perfectly. The spicy miso sauce was also great, and I finished every last bit of rice. By the time I finished eating, the restaurant was about 70% full. It seems to be a popular place. If you pay for parking, the total bill for two people is 4,000 yen. Quite luxurious, haha.

It's a place in Chuo Ward, along a one-way street heading north in Nishi 7-chome, Minami 1-jo, but for the exact location, as always, please check the map on Tabelog. I had some errands in the city, so I decided to have lunch while I was out. I always crave delicious beef tongue, and you can't really find it unless you're in the city, so I chose this restaurant based on its location and went there. I parked my car in a coin parking lot, finished my errands, and on my way back, I headed to this restaurant. I quickly checked the lunch menu outside the restaurant, went downstairs to the restaurant, sat at the available counter seat, checked the lunch menu again, and decided to order the "3 Pieces of Premium Beef Tongue Set Meal." I waited for my order. In 8-9 minutes, the oxtail soup, 3 pieces of beef tongue, pickled vegetables, spicy miso on a plate, and barley rice were served. First, I had the oxtail soup, which had a rich beef broth with a good amount of salt. The oxtail meat was very tender. Then, I tried one piece of beef tongue without adding anything, and it was perfectly seasoned with a good cut, making it easy to eat and allowing me to savor the flavor of the beef tongue. Next, I tried the beef tongue with spicy miso on top of the barley rice, which enhanced the flavor. Later, three pieces of beef tongue were served on a plate, and I also enjoyed the crunchy pickled vegetables as a palate cleanser. Before I knew it, I had finished my meal and was quite satisfied with the food. It was different than expected. In Sapporo, there are many beef tongue restaurants from Sendai, but it's rare to find an old-established beef tongue specialty shop like this one. I visited during a gathering with colleagues from a sales company, and although the seating was a bit cramped, the taste was good. It felt like experiencing a classic Showa era restaurant.
