I rarely come to this area, so there are still many places around Matsuyacho that I haven't visited. While cycling, I spotted a sign in front of an apartment building. The restaurant is located inside on the first floor. The interior is small, with four two-person tables and one four-person table. There are no counter seats. There’s no BGM or TV, so it’s quiet. The owner is from the continent and was managing the place alone. There are many set meal options, but it’s unclear what sides are included because they aren’t listed. When I asked, the owner’s Japanese wasn’t very good, but I managed to understand the explanation and ordered the five-ingredient yakisoba set for 950 yen. The menu stated that it comes with rice, soup, and salad, so I asked to change white rice to fried rice. The owner pointed to white rice and confirmed it would be okay to change to fried rice. However, what arrived was just the yakisoba and soup. It seems my request didn’t get through. The white rice didn’t come either. Was the set meal just soup? After reiterating, the fried rice finally appeared. The yakisoba tasted very soy-salty to me. As for the fried rice, maybe it was a fire issue, but I ate it normally. The soup was a very thin miso soup. The total for the yakisoba and fried rice was 1,850 yen! It seems the fried rice was priced separately. However, at 900 yen, I wonder if there were better choices to make.

1. Time of visit: Around 11:40 AM; Reservation: No; Wait time: None 2. Situation: Just the two of us with a child 3. Atmosphere: The restaurant is slightly dim, which might make you hesitate to enter, but the staff is kind and welcoming. 4. Staff response: A female staff member seems to struggle with Japanese but is very attentive and provides excellent service, although it's a bit awkward since we can't communicate well. 5. Ordered dish: Mapo tofu set meal 6. Taste, quality, and portion: Simple but ample portion; the rice was a bit hard, and I wouldn't particularly recommend the fried chicken. 7. Price range and cost performance: 850 yen per person 8. Notable points (pros and cons): The staff may not speak Japanese well, but they are very nice and gave great service, providing Mapo tofu, Chinese sweets, and even mandarins. It was amusing that the staff was also on lunch break during our visit. They even waved us off at the entrance when we left.

It's been about a month since my last visit. On a Saturday night, the neighboring restaurants are bustling with activity. Today, there was one group ahead of me, and they seemed to be Chinese customers, chatting lively with the owners. Last time, I enjoyed the mapo eggplant, but today I decided on the vegetable stir-fry set for 850 yen. I ordered a draft beer, which was listed as 300 yen, but it turned out to be 500 yen today, which made me laugh. The vegetable stir-fry, featuring cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, shimeji mushrooms, and spinach, was definitely generous in portion. I enjoyed it with my beer. The seasoning was a bit light. There were more Chinese patrons today, adding to the local atmosphere. I imagine Chinese eateries are even livelier, but I appreciated experiencing a bit of that vibe. Lastly, I received complimentary almond tofu for dessert.

On the last day of the Obon holiday, I found this place while looking for a light Chinese meal near my home. It's located deep inside the first floor of a building, alongside a renowned curry shop. When I arrived at 7:30 PM, the lighting was dim, and I thought they were closing, but it turned out the owners were having dinner. I really like this local feel! They kindly guided me to a table next to them, saying, "It's cooler over here," and I felt like I was experiencing true Chinese home cooking (even though I've never been, haha). The prices were very reasonable, with a beer for 300 yen instead of 500, and dumplings for 350 yen. I appreciated that they stayed open during the Obon holiday. I learned that they had opened less than a year ago and previously worked in Yokohama's Chinatown. I ordered the mapo eggplant set for 850 yen, which came with a generous portion of rice, homemade cabbage, four pieces of pickled daikon, and a delicious tomato egg soup that had a very homemade feel. The dumplings were made by the wife and had a comforting taste similar to Japanese home cooking. They even treated me to some almond jelly as a bonus. I left feeling quite full, but what surprised me most was how satisfied I felt inside. Though it's a bit far from Sakaisuji Hommachi Station, I highly recommend this place to anyone living nearby, especially men.

I went to a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of Daiapalace Junkeicho. I had intended to go to a different place in the building, but it was closed for a while, so I decided to enter this restaurant instead. The menu had a lot of options, and it had a handwritten, traditional town Chinese feel to it. There was a Chinese person in the dining area who didn't seem to speak much Japanese. They asked diners to place orders using numbers, so I pointed to my choice. I ordered the stir-fried vegetables for 850 yen. Looking at what others had, it seemed like the portions were large, so I decided against ordering dumplings. Since it was a one-person operation, it took a bit of time for my order to arrive. Rice comes in a large portion for free, but the default serving is already quite generous. It was accompanied by miso soup and pickles. There was also some cabbage on the side. Surprisingly, the stir-fried veggies consisted only of bok choy. It had chili peppers, making it slightly spicy. The chicken was coated in batter. The taste was good, but the portion was large... I managed to finish it, but it might be quite challenging even for a man. It's affordable and can fill you up. Though the woman serving in the dining area couldn't communicate in Japanese, she was very kind, and I felt comfortable during my visit.
