⭐Forbidden Tomikura Black - Bamboo Tempura with Egg Tempura @ Ikemen Tomikura (Ike Men Tomikura) 2-8-26 Kusakou, Yayama Building 1F, Shijonawate City, Osaka Prefecture Nearest Station: Shijonawate Station - 3-minute walk Closed on irregular days Rating: 3.72 (157 reviews) [Udon] Ranked 100th nationwide, 28th in Osaka, 1st in Shijonawate City [Tempura] Ranked 83rd nationwide, 16th in Osaka, 1st in Shijonawate City [Udon Top 100] Ranked 86th nationwide, 25th in Osaka, 1st in Shijonawate City Visit in January 2022 - First visit during lunchtime Ikemen Tomikura is a udon restaurant with a wide variety of side dishes, suitable for izakaya-style dining. Arrived around 12:30 pm and entered without waiting, sitting at the counter. Even before ordering, we were politely informed that the noodles take a long time to cook. Excited to try the freshly made noodles, we eagerly waited for our order. Ordered: - Forbidden Tomikura Black (with a mini risotto) ¥1375 - Bamboo Tempura ¥330 Total: ¥1705 While waiting, we were served udon snacks including kariage, kombu tsukudani, and okaka salad. After a 30-minute wait, our dishes finally arrived. The udon had a base of squid ink and dashi, with noodles of approximately 5x6mm in size, similar to Sanuki style. Toppings included mentaiko, kamaboko, butter, bamboo tempura, and egg tempura. The egg tempura was served half-cooked, with a warning to handle it carefully. The transformation from white to black was striking, and the combination of squid ink, tarako, and butter was incredibly delicious. Although initially lightly seasoned, adding soy sauce enhanced the Japanese flavor. The dish had a unique fusion of Japanese and Western elements, creating an irresistible taste. The mini risotto, flavored with ginger, was a specialty of the restaurant. When combined with the squid ink sauce, it had a surprisingly Western taste. To cleanse the palate, a clear soup with a hint of salt and fresh mitsuba was served, which also utilized the remaining squid ink sauce. The flavors exceeded expectations, creating a memorable dining experience.

I passed by this udon restaurant called "Katsura" in Shijonawate City, Osaka Prefecture almost every day when I was a university student, but this is only my second time actually going inside. It's a well-known udon shop that has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. The interior seems to have expanded since my student days. There is piano music playing in the background, which apparently started last year. This time, I ordered the "Takenoko Tempura Oroshi Bukkake" udon. It takes a bit of time for the udon to arrive, but while waiting, they bring various side dishes. The udon had a nice firm texture and was very delicious! The name of the restaurant comes from the grandfather's name. The staff, who seemed to be siblings, were very friendly. I will definitely come back again! Thank you for the meal! Posted on Instagram.

I used it on Sunday evening. When I looked at the menu, I thought there were quite a variety of options. I ordered the raw soy sauce udon. I also got a side of vegetable tempura. The udon was not white, but had a slightly brownish color with something mixed in. It had a bit of flavor to it. The grated radish was spicy. When you add sudachi, it becomes refreshing. The soy sauce was delicious, and it was a new taste for me! Thank you very much.

I visited Katsura Udon for the first time. I ordered the Tanuki Tempura Udon and Toriten. The udon noodles are thin but have a good texture and are delicious. The tempura is crispy and tasty. The Toriten is best with a sprinkle of salt. The dipping sauce is easy to drink and good. Finally, adding ponzu sauce enhances the flavor. Thank you for the meal.

【Top 100 Delicious Udon Restaurants with Creative Dishes!】Sundays at 12:50, about 70% of the restaurant was filled. The customers were mostly families, which may be due to it being a Sunday. The restaurant felt much brighter compared to a few years ago - was it because of renovations or combining two adjacent stores into one? My memory is a bit hazy... Locals, please enlighten me! (laughs) This place is great for lunch drinking, serving dishes that go well with alcohol, and specializing in creative udon dishes. - Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura Cold Udon: ¥1430 - Forbidden Tomikura Black Udon with Mini Risotto: ¥1375 The prices are on the higher side, but if you order a side dish, it could cost around 2000 yen, and with drinks, around 3000 yen. They are good at upselling, offering side dishes like a train attendant, and their service is quite sales-oriented (laughs). They also give you some snacks like candied sweet potatoes, pickles, or beer, making you want to order more. Now, onto the udon! They have a variety of dishes, but their udon is of high quality, with a strong and delicious texture. The vegetable tempura didn't leave a strong impression, but the corn silk tempura was interesting! The Tomikura Black Udon is made with squid ink, and topped with mentaiko butter on udon. It was a big hit! It was incredibly delicious, with the pasta-like udon noodles having a great texture and flavor. The risotto that came with it was surprisingly good too! This place is versatile for various occasions, with a wide variety of side dishes and udon options, making it a highly convenient and enjoyable restaurant for drinking and eating udon!

I keep coming back, but every time I look at the menu, it ends up being the same (>_<). I want to try something else... but the sticky butter udon is so delicious... The tempura is also piping hot! The deliciousness of the udon and butter is so good that I only put a little bit of soy sauce on it (´∀`). I am satisfied with the consistent deliciousness.

The dishes I had were: Tax-inclusive simmered yam with umeboshi, red and white sweet potatoes for ¥330; Kumamoto direct delivery, pure domestically produced horse sashimi (red meat) for ¥1,100; Udon noodles with broth and fried tofu for ¥770; Chicken tempura and vegetable tempura for ¥660. As a service, they also served udon kariage with kombu, bonito flakes, and pickled seaweed. I also had a premium malt beer with a frothy head for ¥660, and a tomato sour for ¥440. I finally went to a place that I've been wanting to visit after seeing it on TV! They have various types of udon noodles, and I had a hard time deciding because there were also tempura options with a decent portion size! It's about a 5-minute walk from Shijo-Nawate Station, so definitely check it out! __________________________________ I also have Instagram! @honoka_hono_bono Please follow me! Thank you! 🌟

We went as a family. There is a coin parking lot along the street of the restaurant. Inside, classical music was playing on an electronic piano, and they provided children's chairs. We ordered simmered meat with onsen tamago (hot spring egg), tempura with bamboo shoot and egg, and rolled omelette. While waiting for the rice to arrive, we were able to freely enjoy three dishes in a mini bento box. The udon noodles had a good texture and were delicious. The tempura was better when eaten with just salt. They also provided bukkake udon as a service for the small children, which was great.

I finally had the opportunity to try the long-awaited "Red and White Peony Hot Pot" at my favorite restaurant, Katsumen Tomikura. While waiting for the hot pot to arrive, I enjoyed a delicious assortment of appetizers. The hot pot arrived, starting with the "Harahari Hot Pot" with tender pork and fresh vegetables in a flavorful broth. It was absolutely delicious, with no unpleasant odors and just pure meaty goodness. I quickly finished it and eagerly awaited the next course. Next up was the "White Miso and Ground Sesame Hot Pot" with plenty of crunchy vegetables. It was so comforting and warming. To finish off the meal, we enjoyed all-you-can-eat udon noodles, which were incredibly tasty. The restaurant was so generous with the portions, even offering extra helpings of udon. It was a delightful dining experience, and I highly recommend making a reservation to try the Peony Hot Pot at Katsumen Tomikura.

I arrived a little after 11 o'clock, so I was able to enter without waiting. Since I was alone, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the special bukkake udon topped with yam, okra, and a hot spring egg. I was also recommended tempura when I placed my order, so I ended up adding vegetable tempura as well. Later, I was also recommended a side dish, which I also added. It was my first time at this restaurant, but the staff's demeanor was pleasant, and I had a comfortable time. The side dish and tempura were delicious, and the udon had a smooth and chewy texture that showed attention to detail. I ended up finishing it all in one go.

Today's lunch was at Shijonawate at the restaurant called Katsumen Tomikura Ikemen Tomikura. I ordered the Yamaimo Ankake Udon and was recommended the Oki-takun SP with mentaiko and chikuwa tempura. I was a bit hesitant but went with it. The Niku Niku Kake Udon had tender meat and both dishes were part of a great value set meal with extra noodles. I also had ginger rice, tamago kake gohan, and four obanzai dishes. The table was full but my friend and I managed to finish everything and left feeling very satisfied. #OsakaGourmet #OsakaLunch

I visited a udon restaurant in Osaka, Shijo-Nawate, for the first time. I arrived at 11 am on a Thursday and there were no other customers, so I was seated right away. The restaurant had a warm and cozy atmosphere with a wooden interior and a piano playing in the background. I ordered the Chiku Tamaten Bukkake, which had smooth and slightly sweet medium-thick noodles that were delicious. I enjoyed my meal very much.

Boiled meat hot spring egg udon with grated yam: 1,210 yen, add bamboo tempura: 165 yen. I visited for a late lunch on a weekday. It wasn't crowded, so I was able to enter smoothly. There are many types of udon to choose from, and I was torn. The kettle butter and kettle curry also looked delicious. I decided to order cold udon with grated yam. The udon was not too thick and had a gentle texture. It was also chewy. The boiled meat had grilled green onions in it, which added a nice fragrance. I thought the prices were a bit high, but the udon was delicious. It seems like a udon izakaya, so I definitely want to come back for drinks.

My wife and I visited this restaurant after climbing Mt. Iimori. It had been about a year since our last visit. We ordered the hot prawn and vegetable tempura rice bowl. While waiting for the udon to be ready, we enjoyed some fried udon as a snack with beer. The udon arrived after about 10 minutes, and the broth had a wonderful aroma. The noodles were chewy and soft, having been boiled slowly. I usually order cold udon, so the texture was a nice change. The warm udon and broth were a delight to my tired body after climbing the mountain. The tempura consisted of broccoli, pumpkin, eggplant, enoki mushrooms, and prawns. The staff recommended eating it with seaweed salt, which really enhanced the flavor. We were the first customers when we arrived, but by the time we finished eating, there were about five other groups in the restaurant. It's a popular spot, and the food is cooked with care, so I recommend visiting with plenty of time to spare.

On this day, I went on a drive to Nara with my two nephews. We played at a fishing pond in Higashi-Osaka, and on our way to Nara Park, we stopped by this place. My nephews are not very interested in food, but they like udon. So, we went to this place near Shijonawate Station. Since there was no parking, we parked at a nearby coin parking lot and entered the restaurant. We arrived at 11:55 am, but it was already full. We waited for about 10 minutes until a table was available and placed our order. While waiting, we were served karinto, furikake, and salted kelp as appetizers, so we enjoyed them while waiting. The udon arrived in about 20 minutes. - Bamboo Shoot Udon with Tempura Egg, Spicy Cod Roe, and Butter The noodles were the main attraction as it was Kamatama (stirred) style. The noodles were fluffy and had a good stretch. Since the egg was in tempura form, butter was a must. Butter was also necessary to mix with the spicy cod roe. We cracked the egg tempura and turned it into Spicy Cod Roe Butter Kamatama. The conditions were perfect for enjoying delicious noodles. It was quite a challenge to get here, but as the name suggests, the noodles were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visited around 11:45 am on Sunday. No wait. Order at the counter. Got seated with the help of the staff. Ordered Oroshi Bukkake (regular) for 660 yen, Tori Tempura with vegetables for 660 yen. Also ordered the pickled Nanban style baby mackerel for 330 yen. It had a nice flavor, not too sour. As a service, got Okaka salad, Konbu tsukudani, and Karinto with udon. Received the dishes in about 15 minutes. The tempura included bitter melon, eggplant, pumpkin, enoki mushrooms, and 3 pieces of chicken, as well as another item I couldn't identify, all seasoned with salt. Everything was delicious. The chicken had a hint of sake flavor and was juicy and tasty. The bukkake udon was chewy and tasty. The grated daikon had a slight spiciness to it.

The restaurant had a decent number of seats and since it was off-peak hours, I was able to enjoy my meal leisurely without many customers around. However, the service was quite slow, and I was even pressured to order tempura and side dishes while waiting. There were various types of udon available, but I was craving for a sticky texture, so I ordered that. However, I found it difficult to eat halfway through, so I tried adding ponzu sauce for a different taste, but it was still challenging to eat. The udon itself had a good chewy texture and was delicious. Next time, I will definitely try a regular type of udon!
