I made a reservation at a restaurant and stopped by "Haluta" to get some bread to go! It's a unique style where you choose the bread through the glass instead of self-service. It used to be self-service in the past, so maybe it's for infection control? The next day, I ate: Walnut bread (¥360), Anpan (¥220). The walnut bread is larger than the typical walnut bread you see around town, priced at 1.5 times higher. It's not shaped like a flower but more like a baguette, with a chewy texture and lots of walnuts inside. It's great when toasted in a toaster oven, giving it a crispy texture. The bread is quite rustic in flavor, making it a must-try for those who enjoy hard bread. The anpan has a soft texture with a gentle flavor in the white dough and uses smooth red bean paste. It's simple and kind of Haluta-like. Even when partially thawed from frozen, it's still delicious. It's like eating an azuki bar (lol). Although there are only a few varieties, if you're looking for hard bread, this is a good option to consider. I plan to try their cinnamon roll next time I visit. Thank you for the meal.

Sapporo Chuo-ku. From Exit 5 of Maruyama Koen Station, go east and turn left at the third traffic light. On the left hand side, there is a bakery called "Huluta" that offers additive-free pastries. Their Matcha Muffin is a delicately flavored treat with a mild tea taste and just the right amount of sweetness for tea time. Available from late March 2023. Ingredients: Wheat, Walnuts (Milk?, Eggs?) - Contains no additives. Matcha Muffin - 270 yen. Not too sweet with a subtle tea aroma, easy to eat. Scone - 270 yen. Enhanced by the flavor of the raisins, but also delicious on its own, not crumbly. Thank you for the delicious meal. Even if you have time, check out "Raruhata" next door, it's been about four years since I last visited. I thought they only had vegan bread, but some items may contain eggs and milk. I picked out my favorite through the glass and pressed the bell nearby to get the shop owner's attention. (Rating: ★3.26, 24, BM1011)

In a corner of Maruyama, I found this place. I've heard of its name before. I decided to enter while passing by. Despite the ongoing pandemic, the interior of the shop felt quite secure. Beyond the door was a spacious area like an airlock. Next to it, the breads were displayed in a showcase as if they were inside a glass room. There were various items written on the blackboard, but I could sense the challenges of running a business during the pandemic. The cinnamon roll had a gentle cinnamon flavor. It's July now, so the atmosphere of the shop may have changed. I might visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I was planning to come here for lunch, but I thought it might be sold out, so I stopped by. There were a lot of sold out signs, so it seems like you have to come in the morning after all. However, there were some interesting bread left, so I was lucky! ・Walnut bread It was quite large, with a very crispy outer crust that was hard, but the inside was moist and slightly dense, with no dryness at all, making it easy to eat. It had a strong grain-like aroma, and the walnuts added a nice texture. It had minimal seasoning, more like a simple bread. When reheated, the outer crust became crispy and slightly chewy, which I preferred! ・Cinnamon roll It had a strong cinnamon scent! But when you eat it, it's not overwhelmingly cinnamon. The chewy texture was more prominent and left a strong impression. When warmed in the microwave, the chewiness increased, which I preferred! It was a bread that focused on enjoying the ingredients with minimal seasoning! It gave me the impression of a bakery on the outskirts of Sapporo. Since there were no other hard breads this time, I'm curious about trying a different type of hard bread next time.

One hour before closing, I visited Mr. Hulta's bakery! There were about 1/3 of the bread left even during this time, with one group of customers before and after me. The official names are different, but I tried three types: purple sweet potato bean paste, cream cheese & raspberry orange, and almond cream. Each of them costs 200 yen. The purple sweet potato bean paste seemed to be a limited-time or new product. There were also quite a few hard bread options available. Now, let's dig in!
- Purple sweet potato bean paste: It looks like an oyaki (Japanese dumpling), with a purple color that screams purple sweet potato. The texture is slightly chewy, with both purple sweet potato and bean paste inside. They use sweet potatoes from Kagoshima and beans from Hokkaido. Even when eaten together, they are a perfect match.
- Cream cheese & raspberry: This combination of cheese and berries is a match made in heaven. Although I felt that there was a bit less cream cheese, the raspberry made up for it. The bread itself is normal, with a slightly sour taste overall.
- Orange & almond cream: This one has orange peel mixed with almond cream and baked. The acidity of the orange peel and the nutty aroma of the almond cream blend perfectly. The best part for me is the center of the bread, where all the flavors come together.
As it was close to closing time, or maybe as a bonus, they also gave me a hard bread, which was also delicious! Thank you for the meal!

On a day off, I was thinking about what to do for lunch when my mother asked if I could go buy some bread. I thought she must really want to eat it, so I asked if she wanted me to go buy it. She said the weather was bad and she was scared of the coronavirus, so she wanted me to buy it. It's true that young people have a lower mortality rate, but... it's strange for a parent to say that to their son face to face. Following the navigation, I arrived at the shop where there was a curtain at the entrance and a sign on the door limiting entry to 3 people at a time. Inside, the space was quite small, with barely enough room to pass by others. The bakery mainly had hard bread, and they all looked delicious. I bought several types of bread that caught my eye. They recommend bringing your own eco bag as they don't provide bags for packing. The red bean bun had plenty of red bean paste in a soft and fluffy dough, with a subtle sweetness that allows you to taste the texture of the red beans. The walnut bread had a crispy exterior and a chewy interior, with lots of walnuts blended in for a delicious nutty flavor and texture. The cinnamon roll had a flat shape, with a chewy texture and a mild sweetness that allowed the pure cinnamon flavor to shine through. The store wasn't very big, so they didn't have a wide variety of products, but all the bread was delicious. I might come back to buy more if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

"Haruta" is a bakery that focuses on using plant-based ingredients. They do not use any animal-based ingredients such as margarine, eggs, dairy, or shortening. They also use "Hoshino natural yeast" as their yeast and homemade bread starter like rye. The bakery pays close attention to the quality of their ingredients. I visited with my usual companion. The shop is located in the Maruyama area of Chuo Ward, Sapporo, between Odori Street and North 1st Street. The shop is compact, with bread displayed along the left wall as you enter. Half of the bread selection consists of hard bread. On this day, they were also selling homemade jams. I bought a few items:
- Whole wheat bread
Weight: 354g (after packaging)
Ingredients: whole wheat flour, salt, sesame oil, Hoshino natural yeast
Price: 324 yen (tax included)
- Fig and walnut bread
Weight: 252g (after packaging)
Ingredients: figs, walnuts, wheat flour, salt, homemade rye bread starter
Price: 378 yen (tax included)
- Oregano and onion focaccia
Weight: 104g (after packaging)
Ingredients: Hokkaido onions, oregano, wheat flour, salt, Hoshino natural yeast, sesame oil, German rock salt
Price: 194 yen (tax included)
Haruta's bread is made with safe ingredients, suitable even for those with allergies to animal-based ingredients. The taste is authentic and delicious. Each bite reveals a wonderful flavor. I look forward to trying more of their hard bread in the future. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I was driving randomly and happened to come across this shop. I decided to buy something since I was already there. I got focaccia, chocolate bread, blueberry muffin, and apple muffin. I remembered that they charge for bags here. But it's a great shop for people with allergies as they don't use eggs or milk. My daughter chose the chocolate and apple bread. She loved the chocolate one, with a generous amount of chocolate mousse inside, making it taste like a dessert. However, the apple bread was disappointing, just like last time. The blueberry muffin had a faint blueberry scent and was not too sweet, which I liked. But unfortunately, my husband was looking forward to the focaccia, and he was quite disappointed. It was not a normal focaccia, but a type with sauce inside, and it had too few ingredients inside and lacked the richness of the sauce. Oh well, better luck next time!

On a certain holiday, I wandered around starting from Maruyama Koen Station and visited a bakery with various unique breads located at Odori Nishi 23-chome. The bakery is located on the first floor of a building, and upon entering, I was surprised by the sign next to the entrance that read "If you are sensitive to strong scents like perfume, fabric softener, hand cream, etc., please refrain from entering." I couldn't help but wonder if I would be rejected for smelling like an old man. As I nervously opened the door and stepped inside, I noticed another sign that said "Please ask for permission before taking photos inside the store," which made me feel even more tense, even though I hadn't done anything wrong.
From the menu that day, I quickly chose a few items that caught my eye from the display shelf. The "Tomato Focaccia" was impressive when warmed up in the microwave, with a good texture and flavor in the dough. The tomato paste in the middle had an uncompromising "intensity" and a delicious taste. The "Cinnamon Roll" had a firm but not hard dough, with a good balance of sweetness and cinnamon flavor and aroma. Although I don't usually choose "Anpan," this one seemed delicious for some reason, and it had a good texture in the dough and plenty of sweet red bean paste inside. The "Apple Muffin" was also delightful when warmed up, with a soft texture in the dough and a sweet apple aroma that filled the air as soon as I took a bite. Thin slices of apple on top and finely chopped sweet apples inside added to the overall experience.
As I enjoyed these wonderful breads, I couldn't help but imagine the strong passion and dedication that the owner puts into each and every bread, which is reflected in the various notices and signs throughout the store. Thank you for the delicious treats.

I heard about a bakery that does not use eggs, so I visited it right away. I was excited to see what they had. The store had a flashy curtain, so I could easily tell where it was. The interior was small, and it was a tight squeeze to get to the register. Maybe only three people could enter at a time. I noticed a sign on the wall saying, "No eggs, milk, shrimp, or crab in anything." My daughter, who has an egg allergy, and I, who have lactose intolerance, were happy. And the lineup was fantastic. I could picture the joy on my daughter's face. I bought a tomato focaccia, a chai muffin, an apple muffin for adults, and a cocoa banana muffin, a sweet potato muffin, and a red bean bun for my daughter. The tomato focaccia had a firm bread texture but tasted delicious with a tangy flavor. The chai muffin and apple muffin were also on the firmer side, probably due to the lack of eggs. The apple muffin had finely chopped apples on top, which were soft since they were baked. I thought it would be nice to add a special jam with a few larger diced apples on top after baking. My daughter said the sweet potato muffin was soft, fluffy, and had a mild sweetness, making it easy to eat. The red bean bun had a thin skin, a slightly sweet red bean filling, and was delicious. As for the cocoa banana muffin, it was a bit firm. I wonder if the ingredients used affect the texture. I look forward to more in the future. 🌟

One afternoon at Haruta♪ I took a stroll to buy some goodies. I decided to buy just one piece of grape bread rusk. This small and light rusk has a wonderful crispy texture. It's crunchy and delicious with a mix of wheat and raisin flavors. The raisins add a hint of sweetness and a unique taste. The combination of the crispy texture and the rich flavor of wheat and raisins slowly grows on you. This rusk pairs perfectly with red wine♪ Haruta is a vegan bakery that uses locally sourced ingredients from Hokkaido to make their bread. Their simple yet delicious bread left a lasting impression on me. I hope they continue their wonderful philosophy of using plant-based ingredients in their bread. Overall rating 4.0, Taste 4.0, Service 3.3, Atmosphere 3.5, Value for money 3.5, Drinks - Location: 1F, La Mer Maruyama Park, 23-2-25 Odori Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Haruta (huluta)☆☆☆Next time, I will come back to try their 100% plant-based bread♪

Focaccia is simple, maybe it needs something sandwiched in it to make it more satisfying. The banana muffin is not very moist and the banana flavor is subtle. It's a simple dish that allows you to enjoy the ingredients.

In late August 2018, I went to Raruhata to buy ingredients and found a neighboring bakery called Huluta making vegan bread, so I decided to go in. It was close to closing time, but I managed to purchase a tomato focaccia and energy balls. I also visited Raruhata to buy supplies for the Hokkaido Marathon, and next door was a place with a vegan sign, so I went in there as well. The shop was small and crowded, indicating its popularity. I bought what was left and plan to have it for breakfast on the day of the marathon. The tomato focaccia was soft and had a good balance of tomato acidity and saltiness. The energy balls had a nice mix of cereal, sunflower seeds, and raisins. They would be great as a snack during the marathon if they were a bit more moist and soft, but they paired well with tea. They also offer to put the items in a plastic bag for a fee, which was convenient for me. I put them in my Neeneko family tote bag, and it gave me the energy to run at my own pace during the race. Thank you for the delicious meal. Huluta does not have a telephone number, so you can contact them via the internet or email. Located at 23-2-25 Odori Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo. Open from 10:00 to 17:00, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

This bakery uses only plant-based ingredients such as Hokkaido-grown wheat, rye, and homemade bread starter, without using animal products like eggs or dairy. There is no parking lot at the store, and the road in front is a one-lane road, so if you go by car, you may need to look for parking. The store is small. When I visited, I was alone so it was okay, but with about 3 people, it might be difficult to move around. Shopping bags for bread are charged. I had a plastic bag from the supermarket, so I used that. Chocolate cream bun (180 yen, excluding tax) was very fluffy when held with tongs at the store, almost squishing. It was clear why when I cut the bread. There were hollow spots, which made it almost squishy when held. It is a bun filled with plenty of chocolate cream. Raisin buns (130 yen, excluding tax) are raisin buns with a moderate amount of raisins kneaded in. It was a delicious bread with a chewy texture. Bokko Chocolat (170 yen, excluding tax) is a bread named after the Hokkaido dialect word for "stick." It is a stick-shaped bread with chocolate. I thought the chocolate was only topped on the surface, but there were solidified chocolate chunks inside the bread, making it a sweet bread.

I visited an organic bakery in the Maruyama area that I had only been to once before, and my memory of it was faint. It had been about two years since my last visit, so I decided to go back. I arrived shortly after the store opened on a Sunday. The shop was small, with enough space for only 3-4 people. The bread was displayed along the left wall of the long and narrow store, with the cash register counter at the back. I purchased three items, but unfortunately, I didn't note down their names or prices, and I didn't keep the receipt. I felt embarrassed about this, but please forgive me. I paid for a plastic bag to carry my purchases in my bag and took them home. When I tried the bread, it had a delicious aroma of wheat. I especially liked the round bread, which was around 10cm in diameter. It had a cut halfway through, and I filled it with ham, lettuce, and cheese. The crust was not the crispy type but had a soft and chewy texture. It seemed like it would be delicious when warmed up. I usually don't eat soft bread, but I really enjoyed this one. The hard bread also had a good texture and quality. This bakery seems to have a loyal customer base, as they often sell out quickly. It's quite an achievement to thrive in this competitive bakery district, especially in a slightly off-the-beaten-path location. I heard that they can also hold items for you if you contact them in advance. I found out online that two types of bread are popular: the regular bread and the ciabatta. I don't usually eat much bread, but I'm interested in trying the ciabatta, so I plan to revisit the bakery soon. I noticed that their operating hours have changed to closing at 5 pm, so I have updated this information.

This is a bakery near the Subway Maruyama Koen Station in Chuo Ward, Sapporo. I found this shop while wandering around the Hokkaido Shrine area, which is a popular spot for walks. Although I had passed by this area several times, I never noticed the bakery until now. The bakery has a clean exterior with a large noren curtain, which may not immediately give away that it's a bakery. Upon entering the shop, the enticing smell of freshly baked bread fills the air, heightening my expectations. They had several types of baguettes, and after some deliberation, I ended up buying two different kinds. They charge for plastic bags at the register, but I had my trusty backpack with me, so I wasn't worried. I enjoyed the bread as a snack that evening. Both types had a rich wheat aroma, and the one with dried fruits added a hint of acidity, making it a great match for wine. Even after lightly toasting them, the bread remained soft and chewy, with a pronounced sweetness. There were many other intriguing types of hard bread on offer, so I look forward to revisiting this delightful bakery.

I visited a bakery that opened last October. This shop does not use eggs or dairy in their bread. It is located on a street between 22nd and 23rd streets on the north side of Odori West 23 in Chuo Ward. The large white curtain with a blue "◎" stands out at the entrance. You enter to the left of the curtain. The store is small with a staff of 3. Inside, bread is displayed on shelves. I went around 5 pm, so many items were sold out. There were about 15 types of bread tags left. I purchased 3 items from what was available. 1) Half a loaf of round bread (300 yen) - it's like two slices of thin French bread. The surface is crispy like French bread, but the inside is moist and slightly coarse. Toasting makes it crispy outside and moist inside. 2) Fig and walnut bread (300 yen) - a rye bread with plenty of figs and walnuts. The rye content is not too high, with a mild sourness and moist texture. It's chewy and the figs complement it well. 3) Grape bread (130 yen) - the surface is crispy and fragrant, while the inside is soft with a hint of sweetness that matches the raisins. The surface has a good bite, making it memorable. This bakery focuses on quality ingredients. Since many items were sold out this time, I will check the baking time for my next visit.
