The yakisoba from Kakuya, popularized on TV shows like Kenmin Show, is a familiar dish to Hokkaido locals. While it's fun to eat it with one hand, it's actually recommended to stir-fry it in a frying pan. I had it for the first time cooked this way recently and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. It's perfect as a side dish for teppanyaki at home. But this time, I still ended up eating it with one hand, keeping it wild, haha. It's fun to make bite marks in it too. Eating pickled ginger bit by bit is also enjoyable. It's the soul food of Bibai, or rather, of Hokkaido, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

【Takeout】Located in the commercial facility directly connected to JR Shin-Sapporo Station and Subway Tozai Line Shin-Sapporo Station, Aeon Kataprishin Sapporo, which was renovated and reopened in December last year, has a new Hokkaido product exhibition-like tenant that opened on April 21st. The shop is located on the underground 1st floor of the San Plaza Center Mall, right after entering. April 9, 2022, 7:30 pm, revisiting. Due to work and having had a light lunch, I was very hungry and ended up buying more than I needed. This is a story of one person's typical April day. While exploring the New Sapporo Dungeon, Mogutan found a half-price sticker and got excited to have a bento box in hand. Enjoying the bento box at home (no microwave available), the rice topped with pork in a Western-style seasoning was slightly salty overall but still enjoyable with the vegetable effect. The pork fat content was not a concern and overall, it was good. The nori bento box had a deep-fried horse mackerel that felt a bit heavy on oil, and the tartar sauce was unnecessary for me but I finished it nonetheless. I liked the pickled radish. Overall, the seasoning was a bit strong but not overly salty, and I enjoyed it. Stay tuned for part 2.

I shopped at "Kita Kitchen" in Shin-Sapporo last year. I also occasionally visit the Aurora Town store, and they have a wide variety of Hokkaido specialty products which makes browsing enjoyable. I ended up purchasing Tomashiranuka "Semi-hard type natural cheese @432" after much deliberation. It has a mild saltiness and a slightly firm texture with a simple flavor. I also bought Yoshida's "German-style grilled sausage @500" which is similar to the famous German sausage "Weisswurst". It has a firm texture and is well-made. Lastly, I got NEEDS' "Petit Caciocavallo @400" which I quickly pan-fried with a little olive oil. It has a crispy exterior and a gooey interior, and Caciocavallo is my favorite. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

On the last Sunday of March, I went to the bakery as soon as it opened. It was a day when a limited quantity of the cheesecake "Red Silo" was being sold, and there was a lively crowd of people there for that. This time, Kitakitchen offers various breads from different bakeries each day of the week. I found out through the local information newspaper "Manmaru Newspaper" that a bakery called "Mugino Ho" from Ebetsu would be making their first appearance, so I decided to go and check it out. I have always wanted to try the bread from Mugino Ho whenever I visit Ebetsu, but I have been unlucky as I have visited three times in the past and each time they were closed. Even when I tried to avoid their regular closing days, they were unexpectedly closed (maybe it's just not meant to be). [Items purchased] - Loaf of bread (Mugino Ho) - 351 yen - Salt bread (Mugino Ho) - 107 yen - Sweet red bean bread (Cinnamon Bakery) - 129 yen Loaf of bread: The aroma of butter was strong. It smelled like Danish bread with a rich buttery scent. However, the texture was not as good as expected. It felt dry and stale, making it hard to enjoy. Salt bread: A soft salt bread. Sweet red bean bread: This was from Cinnamon Bakery in Ebetsu. I have never bought this type of bread from their actual store before. It had a fluffy and soft dough with red beans stuffed on one side. It was delicious. Next time I go to Ebetsu, I will try visiting "Mugino Ho" again.

After finishing shopping at AEON, I stopped by this shop: Kita Kitchen Shin Sapporo Store. Whenever I shop here, they always put my items in a Marui Imai bag, and I was wondering why. It seems that this shop is operated by Marui Imai. They sell snacks, alcoholic beverages, seasonings, frozen foods, and other local Hokkaido products. What caught my attention the most is the corner where they sell various breads from different bakeries in Hokkaido each day of the week. Today, Wednesday, they have bread from "Manjuya Shoten" in Obihiro. At the top row, there is a prominent "Shining Melon Bread". The name is lovely, isn't it? When you look closely, the top part is faintly shining. But what caught my eye was the bottom part of the melon bread. It looked deliciously crispy. Since my partner loves melon bread the most, I decided to buy one for them. In the evening, after my partner came home, I also had a taste. Just as I thought when buying it, biting into the bottom part made a nice crispy sound. It seemed like a cross between melon bread and sweet brioche. The cookie dough is thin, so the top part is not as crispy, but there is a subtle buttery aroma. It's not incredibly delicious, but it was a type of melon bread I had never tried before. I would like to check out bread from a different bakery on a different day next time. Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by "Kita Kitchen Shin-Sapporo" while I was in Shin-Sapporo. I found my favorite florentine in the baked goods section and bought one. It was a bit sticky and didn't have the crispy texture I like, but the taste was delicious. They also offer various bread from different bakeries on different days of the week. Today, they had bread from "Cinnamon Bakery (Ebetsu)" which I like, but unfortunately, they were sold out. The signature item of this shop, the cinnamon roll, was prominently displayed. If you like cinnamon rolls, you can buy them here without having to go to Ebetsu. Next time, I will try bread from a different bakery on a different day of the week.

Is this a catacomb? In this terrifying labyrinthine dungeon, it is not enough to just wander around! So... I entered the Kitakitchen Shin Sapporo store that caught my eye. When lost, browsing the store's products is a moment of peace. However, when leaving the store, I was still lost... At Kitakitchen Shin Sapporo store, I bought three types of bean snacks: Hokkaido seafood beans, grilled shrimp beans with savory salt, and roasted peanuts. When I tried them, they reminded me of edamame. The ingredients listed were beet granulated sugar, domestic rice flour, wheat flour, starch, vegetable oil, shrimp powder, salt, red koji, leavening agent. The level of deliciousness did not meet my expectations, but they were enjoyable to nibble on with alcohol, with a crispy texture and shrimp flavor. In Iwamizawa City, there is Ichikawa-ya Kunsei Honpo, which smokes black beans from Nakasatsunai, Hokkaido. You can enjoy the smoky flavor, chewy texture, and the deliciousness of the beans. It seems like it would go well with beer, but this time I paired it with red wine... The salt-boiled beans are made from zinc soybeans grown with plenty of seaweed extract fertilizer. The variety is called "Aoshizuku," and it seems to be salt-boiled ripe edamame, but the soybeans themselves are made in Hokkaido, making it a local sake snack. Overall 3.2, Taste 3.2, Service 3.3, Atmosphere 3.0, Cost performance 3.0, Drink - Location: Kitakitchen Shin Sapporo store, B1F, 5-7, Abukuma Central 2-jo, Kita-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido ☆☆☆Next Episode Preview☆☆☆ I feel like I will be drawn back here when I get lost again.

Closing time already? No, not yet. As I was looking at the dried fish, a handsome guy came over. He kept offering me samples one after another, like he was in a hurry. Is he the leader of the fish department? His knowledge and sales pitch were perfect. The mackerel and saury were especially delicious. If I had space in my fridge, I would want to buy them. But what caught my attention the most was the salted herring. That salty thing that you can eat for breakfast with just one piece. I asked about the expiration date. It's good until 08/24 if refrigerated. What? It can last for over 3 months? Is it really salty? Yes, you can have it for breakfast with just one piece. That's it! That's what I wanted!! Just one piece, please. Here you go, it's 380 yen. The handsome guy squeezed all the herrings on display and handed me the one with the firmest flesh. The head and tail can also be used to make a tasty soup. I got to try a sample, bought the 380 yen product, and even got cooking instructions. I feel a bit guilty, but thank you! When I opened it at home, it was packed with roe and fat. After rinsing it, my hands were covered in fat. I lightly removed the scales with a knife and cut off the head and tail. I boiled it in a pot and made salted herring soup. I grilled the flesh quickly as a side dish. When I took a bite - wow, it's salty! This goes great with sake. It's fatty but not overpowering. I can't stop eating! I'm only taking small bites, but it's delicious. It would be great with rice, and a tea pickled herring would be a nice finish. The soup without salt turned out well too. And it's perfect as a breakfast side dish. This salted herring is tasty.

▼Location▼ Located on B1F of Catepri, directly connected to Shin-Sapporo Station. ▼About the Shop▼ This select shop of Hokkaido-produced foods is operated by the local department store Marui Imai, which has branches in large facilities such as Aeon and airports, in addition to their own department stores. The Shin-Sapporo store opened on April 21, 2017. ▼Menu▼ They offer a variety of local delicacies, sweets, gourmet foods, and seasonings from all over Hokkaido. ▼Food Tried▼ ▽Sweet Shrimp Salt Ramen, 1 serving 324 yen▽ (2017.06) This dry noodle ramen from the popular ramen shop Tanaka Shoten in Moshiri features a salt soup made from sweet shrimp heads, giving it a rich and distinct shrimp flavor. The noodles have a good firmness and a slightly yellowish color. ▼Impressions▼ (2017.06) Marui Imai, a well-known local department store in Hokkaido, operates this select shop of Hokkaido-produced foods, aiming to showcase the quality of local products to residents rather than just as souvenirs. The shop is popular for its concept. While I didn't find what I was looking for in terms of souvenirs, I ended up purchasing the dry noodle ramen mentioned above. Although I was unfamiliar with Tanaka Shoten, the taste of the ramen exceeded my expectations with its strong shrimp flavor. I would like to visit again and try something else that looks delicious.

May, last Sunday. At the end of last year, this entire area of New Sapporo underwent a full renovation of the large commercial facilities. It has been some time since then, but I am still confused about where each store is located. Some old stores have changed locations, and new stores have also opened, making it difficult for me to navigate. One store that caught my eye this time was a select shop called "Kita Kitchen." Hmm, the name sounds familiar, but I think this is my first time using it. First, I looked around the store to see if there was anything interesting. The first thing that caught my eye was a roll cake called "Character Roll Shirokaba" (621 yen including tax). "This looks good," I thought and decided to buy it without hesitation. It turned out to be a cake from a confectionery called "Gashi-ji Ogata" in Wakkanai. The beauty of the design, inspired by the white birch, was so captivating that my wife immediately agreed without hesitation. I also noticed another item, "Yubariyama 100% Soba" (491 yen including tax), dry noodles. Well, of course, I always check out noodle products. I had actually seen this dry noodle in Niseko last month but didn't buy it at the time. Seeing it again now, I decided to purchase it. However, at 491 yen for one pack (180g), it was quite expensive. Considering that I would need two packs for our household consumption balance, the total expenditure of nearly 1,000 yen made me hesitate. But since I was already in the mood, I decided to go for it and made the purchase at the register. Now, I had some very delicious-looking sweets and a pack of "10% Soba" to try out. First, I decided to enjoy the sweets at home. [After tasting] - Character Roll Shirokaba: The appearance of this roll cake, inspired by white birch, was similar to many other cakes I have seen. However, the inclusion of black beans and raw caramel inside was a unique feature. Initially, I was surprised to find black beans inside a cake, but when I tried it, it was surprisingly good. The white chocolate coating, fluffy sponge, white cream, and the black beans inside all worked together perfectly. The raw caramel flavor added a nice touch. The overall sweetness was just right, and my wife and I finished the whole roll cake in no time. I would definitely like to try the other version, "Character Roll Ezomatsu," next time. - Yubariyama 100% Soba: I tried this three days later for dinner. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment. I had my wife cook the noodles this time, and I'm not sure if that affected the outcome. When cooking 100% soba, especially dry noodles, it is crucial not to stir too much and boil quietly. I'm not sure if the result would have been different if I had cooked it myself. The 100% soba noodles did not turn out as expected, and it was a bit of a letdown.

I love "Kita Kitchen," which has now opened in Shin Sapporo as well. One of the features of the Shin Sapporo store is the deli corner, and I had heard that they had their own unique deli items. However, it turns out that they are actually selling deli items from "Nouka no Musuko," which I visited recently. I was hoping for unique deli items, but I did find my favorite croquette there, so I decided to try it. It was a croquette made with Niseko-grown Danshaku potatoes (150 yen). The roughly mashed potatoes were smooth and had the skin on, which I love. It was a delicious croquette that I enjoyed. It seems that "Nouka no Musuko" frequently changes their deli items, but I hope they continue to sell this croquette for a long time.

[Takeout] A commercial facility directly connected to JR Shin-Sapporo Station and Shin-Sapporo Station on the Tozai Line of the subway, Aeon Katapuri Shin-Sapporo, which was renovated and reopened last December, has a new tenant that opened on April 21st, like a local products exhibition from Hokkaido. The shop is located on the basement 1st floor of Prichika DELI, which is located right after entering from the Sunpiazza Center Mall. On May 11, 2017, around 7 pm, I visited for the first time after work, for my usual "dungeon hunting" in Shin-Sapporo. I was looking for a certain item with a special seal, which I also found at Kita Kitchen. Among the four types available, this time I bought two types of washed cheese. I forgot to take a picture of the other one, but both had quite an appealing appearance. When I took them out of the outer vinyl, it felt like I was smelling an old bookshelf, an abandoned house, or Kirby working hard. The taste was rich and creamy. Since I had them, I decided to wake up the wine that was sleeping at home and enjoy them together. The wine I chose was a French red wine called Cont Dumas Medoc from 2012. I'm not a wine expert or a foodie, so don't take my opinion as a reference. I don't have a decanter or anything fancy, so I just poured it into a glass and swirled it around. It had a distinct acidity, tannins, and a hint of sweetness that paired well with the strong-flavored cheeses. By the way, I didn't bother cutting the cheese into fancy pieces and just enjoyed them by hand, taking big bites like a wild animal. It's a great hunting ground for me now. ♫

Welcome.---------- May 2017 ----------A small antenna shop featuring various local specialty food items is located in the B1 Marui Imai connected to the subway station "Shin-Sapporo". There are many unique local products gathered here, some of which you may not even know were famous. The shop mainly offers minor items, and once they become popular, they are sold in department stores and supermarkets. Similar to the Odori store, they also have a deli section. There are many items that would make great conversation starters, and in the Mushroom Kingdom, you can't go wrong with the enoki mushrooms. Even though the value of items decreases when they are available here, it's inevitable. The spicy and salty taste of the minced mentaiko and the sweet and rich flavor of the mentaiko with grains are perfect for topping rice. The sourness of the pickled plum mentaiko is a lip-puckering delight, and it would go well on cold tofu. Ultimately, this series is suitable as a side dish for both rice and sake. There are more Hokkaido cheeses here compared to international food items, so you may want to try a variety of them. Thank you, and bon appétit.

We went to Kitchen Sapporo, just the two of us, and realized that it had been a year since our last visit. It was a planned visit, but my wife didn't have any specific plans in mind. I had made some notes beforehand, but I'm also a bit of a strange guy, so I wasn't surprised by her lack of planning. The main purpose of our visit was important, so it was fine that my wife didn't have a plan for the rest of the day. I thought about going to a big mall like AEON where we could efficiently shop, but we had been there recently, so I suggested going to the New Sapporo area. I knew there were many facilities there, but I didn't have a clear idea of their layout. I did a quick search and found that there were quite a few department stores, so we decided to explore New Sapporo together. When we arrived at Kitchen Sapporo, we realized that there were other stores besides Kitchen Sapporo, which was great. However, I had already written about many of them in previous reviews, so I wasn't sure if there were any new and interesting places to explore. My wife was a bit annoyed that I was taking up too much time at Kitchen Sapporo, as we had a spa appointment in Chitose later in the day. We ended up spending about 30 minutes at Kitchen Sapporo, and I couldn't resist buying some sweets. The dorayaki we bought was huge and had a thick, slightly chewy texture. The sweet bean paste filling was delicious, but a bit too sweet for my liking. Overall, it was a tasty treat. We also tried some inari sushi, which had a unique texture due to the addition of fish roe. Despite the mishap of the packaging tearing, the sushi was well-seasoned and delicious. The bread we bought was perfect for making sandwiches, with a nice yeast aroma and a slightly chewy texture. In the end, my wife commented that the bread was a bit dry, but I didn't mind. It was a delicious bread with no unnecessary sweetness.

When I went to Sapporo, I found a kitchen called "Tomoe Bagel" and they were selling a limited quantity lucky bag with 6 bagels inside for only 1000 yen. It was a great deal! The flavors are a surprise, but after reheating them, I tried different ones like plain, basil sausage, organic raisin & walnut, whole grain plain, cream cheese blueberry, and organic earl grey & lemon. My favorite was the basil sausage for its flavorful combination. The cream cheese blueberry had too much cream cheese for my taste, but the blueberry flavor was nice. The organic earl grey & lemon was not my favorite due to the strong lemon peel taste. Overall, the bagels were good, and I would like to try their sweet flavors next time.
