I was drawn to the weekly special menu of Katsudon, but I came here because I wanted to try their curry. I ordered the Zangi Curry (800 yen), which is a rich and sweet curry with tender, shredded beef cooked until it falls apart. This place is known for their Zangi, so instead of Katsu, Zangi is served with the curry. The Zangi has a delicate, powdery coating and the meat is perfectly tender, living up to its reputation as the signature dish. The curry is delicious too, but the Zangi is so good that it almost feels like a waste to mix it with the curry! The restaurant may not stand out from the outside, but the high ratings are well-deserved. The interior has a simple dining hall vibe, focusing on functionality. The owner is also very relaxed, watching TV in the dining area when there are no tasks to do. The fact that they have a parking lot is also a big plus point for this great little restaurant.

When someone mentions curry in Obihiro, Indian curry is the first thing that comes to mind. However, I was recommended to try OZAWA as well, so I decided to visit. When I looked around the restaurant, I noticed that many customers were ordering the Mega Zangi Curry. Just by looking at it, I could tell it was a huge portion and seemed difficult to finish. I ordered the Normal Zangi Curry for 800 yen, which seems to be based on a chicken curry.

Zanegg set meal for 700 yen. The building has a slightly old-fashioned feel, but it's a popular spot for regular customers. I chose the Zanegg set meal. It's a classic set meal with a fried egg on top and fried chicken. The fried chicken was tender, juicy, and delicious. The miso soup had a rich and tasty broth that I enjoyed.

I came to eat Zangi Curry at a suspicious restaurant during a drinking party in Obihiro. The portion size is quite generous. Is there anyone who can eat the Mega size? The Zangi Curry (800 yen) is on the sweeter side, perhaps due to the sweetness of the onions. You can adjust the spiciness with hot oil! The Spaghetti Salad (100 yen) tastes like a homemade dish. The master in the kitchen complaining about the heat adds to the interesting charm of the place.

Visited around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. There were 2 customers already. I was in the mood for fried food, so I decided to visit this place where I heard the fried chicken (Zangi) was delicious. The menu mainly consists of Zangi and curry, so you choose the amount of Zangi and rice, and whether you want curry or not when ordering. In my case, I often run out of rice, so I ordered extra rice. Zangi set meal 700 yen, extra rice 100 yen. The Zangi is double-fried without pre-frying, similar to Karaage, with a crispy coating. Each piece is on the smaller side to ensure quick cooking, but the portion is generous even without extra meat. The shredded cabbage, corn, spaghetti salad, and cherry tomato served with the meat complement the Zangi well. They even provide a bottle of mayonnaise without asking, adding to the specialty store's charm. The extra rice I ordered was a substantial portion in a rice bowl size, satisfying for anyone. It is made with half-polished brown rice, which helps alleviate some guilt (laughs). The miso soup and pickles also enhance the completeness of the Zangi set meal, making me very satisfied. The owner has a very tough appearance as a Japanese, emitting a strong aura when silent, but he is friendly and talkative when not busy. Despite his intimidating look, he comes off as a bit shy and cute, or something like that (laughs). Overall, I think it's a great restaurant!

Zangi and curry restaurant, OZAWA-SAN, I visited for the first time! It was a place I had been meaning to try at least once. The exterior has a mysterious vibe to it. This place is known for its zangi dishes, with zangi set meals and zangi curry being their specialties. Inside, there was one customer before me and the owner, creating a somewhat heavy atmosphere. I checked the menu and saw they have a weekly special, which this week was Japanese-style spaghetti for 700 yen. I decided to try that instead of the zangi, taking a bit of a risk. The customer before me was having the zangi curry, which looked delicious. Later, two men arrived. It seemed like this place doesn't attract many female customers. I waited for about 8 minutes before my dish arrived. It was served on a hot plate and looked delicious. The spaghetti had a nice firmness and was seasoned with a light Japanese flavor. The ingredients included shimeji mushrooms, bell peppers, sausages, and wood ear mushrooms. It was unexpectedly tasty and impressed me. There was a notice in the restaurant mentioning that the owner had recently been hospitalized, and as a result, prices were increased by 100 yen. Overall, despite the slight price increase, the generous portions and reasonable prices were appreciated. Thank you, OZAWA-SAN, for the meal.

It's been a while since my last visit. The opening hours have changed from 12:00 to 11:30. The menu has also changed, and it seems like they no longer have tonkatsu or chicken katsu. The main options now are zangi and curry. I ordered the Zanegg, which is a combination of sunny-side-up eggs and zangi. The set meal came with two sunny-side-up eggs, four small zangi pieces, cabbage, and coleslaw. The rice was served as brown rice in a bowl. While zangi alone may get a bit boring, the sunny-side-up eggs really increased my appetite. The coleslaw was a nice addition too! The portion was satisfying due to the generous amount of rice. The curry that the customer next to me ordered also looked delicious. It seems like the owner is having a tough time based on the conversation I overheard. Keep up the good work, owner. I will visit again. Should I go for Zanegg next time or Zangi Curry?

I went to the restaurant Ozawa in Obihiro. It's a bit hard to get in, but the fried chicken is delicious! It's affordable and tasty, but the restaurant has a bit of a homey feel.

The store's appearance may make it difficult to enter for the first time. It is a shop specializing in Zangi and curry. The curry is mild and even children can enjoy it.

Zangi curry for 700 yen. Zangi itself is delicious, but it's even better with curry! The portion is satisfying and fills you up completely. I found Zangi curry tastier than the tonkatsu curry I had before.

It's a shop that I keep coming back to for some reason. Today, I went for the Genghis Khan set meal. They have interesting limited-time offers like fish set meals occasionally.

I had a delicious and affordable meal! I ordered the Zangi set meal, but before that, the miso soup was so tasty that I was more impressed by it than the Zangi.

This is "Shokujidokoro Ozawa" in Obihiro City. Located at 1-1 Nishi 8-jo Minami 12-chome, Obihiro City. The specialty here is Zangi and curry. The exterior of the restaurant looks a bit suspicious. The interior and the master have a unique atmosphere, but surprisingly, it's cozy and relaxing. The gap between the atmosphere and the delicious food served makes you captivated. I tried the "Zangi Curry" for 700 yen. The curry has a sweet flavor with the chicken meat fibers melted into it. Delicious! I wonder where this sweetness comes from. They also serve Fukujinzuke and hot oil, but the sweetness is already like eating them together with Fukujinzuke. It's a kind consideration so that even children can enjoy it. Adults can add spiciness with hot oil. The Zangi is juicy and tender, fried twice to perfection. They also pay attention to the rice, using "Gohan Dzuki Genmai" which is healthy and easy to eat. I didn't even notice it was brown rice until after finishing it, as it was just as enjoyable as regular white rice. Looking at other customers, many order the large curry, and the portion size is indeed impressive. The overall reasonable prices are another great aspect of this place.
