Before returning from Osaka, I decided to have lunch and planned to eat okonomiyaki before boarding the Shinkansen, so I chose to go to a famous restaurant in Umeda. I went to "Okonomiyaki Kiji Umeda Sky Building Store". It's a restaurant inside Umeda Sky Building and has a nice atmosphere. I was originally thinking of getting "Pork Tamago" and "Modern Yaki", but since I was going to eat kushikatsu in Shin-Osaka, I decided on "Modern Yaki". They systematically cooked the Pork Tamago and Modern Yaki on the teppan. They didn't do much on the teppan, just adding ingredients. I think they probably incorporate air during the mixing process to make it fluffy. The aroma was really appetizing. The order was ready in about 30 minutes from entering the store, and it was time to eat. It looked delicious without a doubt. I started eating. It was delicious! It had a fluffy texture without being powdery, and the flavor was solid and simply delicious! It had a unique texture compared to regular Modern Yaki. It felt light but packed with flavor. It was a strange sensation, light but full of umami, increasing satisfaction. I quickly finished the unique Modern Yaki that I had never tried before. Next time, I want to try the classic "Pork Tamago" and yakisoba. Thank you for the meal!

I'm not a big fan of okonomiyaki, so I usually don't eat out, but the okonomiyaki I had in Hiroshima was so delicious that I was determined to try it in Osaka as well. I can't eat green onions or onions, so the mixed okonomiyaki I wanted to try was a no-go. The recommended modern okonomiyaki was made by stir-frying noodles, squid legs, pork belly, and cabbage, then mixing it with beaten eggs and cooking it on a griddle. It was topped with sauce, mayonnaise, seaweed, and bonito flakes. Honestly, it was different from what I expected, and to be rude, I thought, "Is this really delicious?" I was surprised by the style of eating it directly from the griddle at the counter, and felt a bit embarrassed. Oh, it was so delicious! I couldn't help but order a highball too. The sweet sauce was addicting, and I definitely want to eat it again.

Since old times, my top recommendation for Osaka-style okonomiyaki has always been Kiji-san! The main store had a long line, so I came to this branch instead. We were able to get in after waiting for about 20 minutes. With my family of four, we ordered two suji okonomiyaki, one mix okonomiyaki, one pork okonomiyaki, and one yakisoba. Yesterday, there was a special promotion for the Hanshin Tigers' victory, so we got a free glass of beer! The suji okonomiyaki was especially delicious! I will definitely come back again! Congratulations to the Hanshin Tigers on their victory! Thank you for the beer!

On this day, I walked around sights like the Tower of the Sun in the morning and got hungry. So, I enjoyed authentic okonomiyaki at the famous restaurant Kiji. I had to wait a bit, but the turnover was not bad and surprisingly, we were able to get into the restaurant smoothly. The manager was very friendly and the okonomiyaki that came out was fluffy and amazing! It was a restaurant that I would like to visit many times!

During my trip to Osaka, I found a famous okonomiyaki restaurant. When I arrived, there were already 5-6 groups waiting in line. The restaurant was crowded with customers from overseas. I ordered the classic pork okonomiyaki and the suji (beef tendon) okonomiyaki to share with a friend. It was delicious and we finished it in no time. The owner was very friendly, and the okonomiyaki was so tasty that I would love to visit this restaurant again if I have the chance to go to Osaka.

I came to entertain a friend from Korea. They wanted to eat okonomiyaki, so I chose the famous Kiji in Osaka. We lined up, ordered from a menu handed to us along the way, and then waited in chairs until a seat opened up. However, maybe I had set my expectations too high. I felt like I waited a long time for "just this?"

Okonomiyaki is a popular dish in both the East and West, and this restaurant is highly rated. Located about a 10-minute walk from Yodobashi Umeda, you will find a Sky Building underground with a retro Showa concept restaurant area. This particular restaurant had no line, so we were able to enter easily. The walls were covered with money and business cards from around the world, giving the place a unique and cozy atmosphere. We ordered the Buta-sujji (pork belly) okonomiyaki for 1050 yen and the Modanyaki for 970 yen, and both were delicious! The flavors were simple yet rich in natural ingredients, different from what you might find in Tokyo. The overall vibe of the restaurant area was great and it was not crowded on the day we visited. It's easy to see why this restaurant has such high ratings. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Nostalgic taste of Showa era. I feel like the okonomiyaki back then had this kind of sauce flavor. Nowadays, there are various fancy okonomiyaki options which are also good, but eating this okonomiyaki makes me feel refreshed. The sauce is also light, but it's good in its own way. Since one piece is small, ordering two is just right. On weekends, there's always a line. Reservations are not accepted, so you have to wait in line.

I was really looking forward to my visit after a long time for my son's homecoming. However, there were two disappointing points. I used to love the fluffy dough that is hard to make at home, but wait, was it like this before? The taste also seems a bit different. Maybe my memory is idealizing it. Another point is that I started lining up 20 minutes before the store opened, but two salarymen at the front of the line each took a seat at a four-person table. Just before the delicious food was ready around noon, four salarymen with an air of importance entered the store. Ah, I see, it's probably because it's not polite to have the important people wait in line, so the lower-ranked ones line up and then join them when it's time to eat. In popular stores, I always thought it was normal to "wait until everyone is here before lining up"… Everyone may have their own thoughts on this, but personally, I found it very unpleasant.

I visited around 8:15 pm. It seemed like they were closing at 9 pm as the customer behind me was being turned away. Due to the calming of the coronavirus situation, there were many customers from overseas, causing long lines, so I haven't been able to come often. This visit was after a long time. I ordered the mixed grill, which I think is my first time ordering it even though I have been here many times. Honestly, it was delicious, but it didn't compare to the beef tendon and egg dish here, which is really delicious. I regret not ordering my usual dish this time as well.

On August 18, 2023, at 4:45 PM, I visited Okonomiyaki Kiji Umeda Sky Building branch, located about 10 minutes from Osaka Station. Here is my review:
- Arrival and Wait Time:
Arrival Time: August 18, 2023, 4:45 PM
Entry Time: August 18, 2023, 5:15 PM
Wait Time: 30 minutes
Queue Status: None (just filled up)
- Ordered Items:
Pork Okonomiyaki - 800 yen
After some hesitation, I decided to order the Pork Okonomiyaki listed at the top of the menu! While watching other customers' okonomiyaki being cooked at the counter, my anticipation grew. The okonomiyaki did not disappoint! This time, a young man was cooking, but there was also a veteran-looking chef, so I'd like to try his cooking next time!
- Notes:
Around 6:00 PM, when I left the restaurant, there was a line of about 20 people, so it seems like arriving early is a good idea! Thank you for reading until the end! I hope this review can be helpful for your restaurant search.

This is a restaurant review for a popular okonomiyaki restaurant called "2023 Hyakumeiten". It is located in the retro-chic area under Umeda Sky Building. When I mentioned it was my first time at the restaurant, they recommended the Butatama (pork and egg) for 800 yen, and the Modanyaki (modern-style okonomiyaki with yakisoba inside) for 980 yen, along with a draft beer for 530 yen. Each table has a hot plate, and you can see the chefs cooking at the counter. The Butatama has pork and egg on top of the okonomiyaki, while the Modanyaki has crispy yakisoba wrapped in egg. The crispy texture of the Modanyaki adds a nice touch. I also ordered a refill of Lime Sour for 440 yen, which comes in a glass. Overall, it was a delicious okonomiyaki restaurant.

Head to this famous okonomiyaki restaurant in Osaka Umeda. In a retro atmosphere created in the underground of the Sky Building, a truly retro space appears. The grilling is done by veterans, the waitstaff is mostly women and young people, and the drinks are mainly beer and highballs (the plum highball was quite good). The okonomiyaki menu is quite extensive, but due to the many tourists, the most popular choices are the suji-yaki, butatama, and modern-yaki. Many customers take videos of the veterans grilling. While waiting for the suji-yaki and modern-yaki to be ready, you wonder what makes delicious okonomiyaki. When they arrive, they are elegant and delicious. The okonomiyaki slides down smoothly without any additional sauce or mayonnaise on the table. I even gave a brief chopstick lesson to the foreigner at the next table, making me feel like I had a small international exchange. The staff's care and warm approach make you want to come back again. I visited around 3 pm on a Friday, so I didn't have to wait long, but it might get busy on weekends.

I arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 PM on Friday and had to wait for about 3 groups before being able to enter at 9 PM. Although it was written on Tabelog that the last order is at 9:30 PM, I think it might actually be at 9 PM. I ordered the mixed ramen and beef tendon, and the broth had a nice flavor with the beef tendon being especially delicious. The man who seemed to be the owner of the restaurant was quite famous, as customers were asking to take pictures with him. As I was the last customer, I felt rushed, but the other staff members kindly told me to take my time. It was clear that the owner's hospitality was reflected in the pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. It's not just about the delicious food, but also the welcoming ambiance that makes this place truly special.

We waited in line for about an hour. We went with two people and by chance, they divided the okonomiyaki into half beef and half pork for us at the counter, and made the yakisoba extra large. They started with half the sauce and finished with soy sauce yakisoba. I thought it was worth waiting for with the kindness and deliciousness of the owner. I would like to go again when it's less crowded.

The "Kiji Umeda Sky Building" located on the B1 floor of Umeda Sky Building in Osaka, Umeda. It is a okonomiyaki restaurant situated in a corner of the "Takimi Koji" which replicates a Showa retro alley. When I arrived a bit before the opening time on a holiday, there was a long line surrounding the restaurant, unfortunately I couldn't get in on the first try. After waiting for about an hour from the opening, I was finally seated inside. I ordered the "Butatama" for 800 yen and the "Modanyaki" for 980 yen. I wanted to order some side dishes like yakisoba, but I was advised by the staff that the portions were quite large, so I decided not to. The chef asked me where I came from, and I said Nagoya to watch a rugby game. The chef responded with surprise that the game was at Hanazono. Throughout the meal, we laughed a lot. The okonomiyaki, being my first time, was impeccable. As expected from a highly popular okonomiyaki restaurant, the taste was perfect. It seems to be featured in foreign guidebooks, and with the resurgence of inbound tourism, I could feel visitors from all over the world flocking to the restaurant.

After the social gathering, I visited this place. It's quite hot outside. It's a bit cooler underground, but I still need to use a fan. I waited for about an hour before I could sit at the counter. By then, I was quite hungry. I had a mixed grill, with crispy pork, shrimp, squid, konjac, and various flavors to enjoy. I paired it with ginger ale. The strong carbonation of the drink went well with the okonomiyaki. The owner was attentive and observant of the customers, which left a strong impression.

The cabbage chopped by the master was crunchy and delicious! The balance of sauce, ketchup, and mayo was perfect. I personally prefer the finishing touch of this "butatama" compared to the thick sauce at the main store. The thin layer of egg on top is also good. The cabbage is chopped differently depending on the part, so you can enjoy the crunchy and sweet flavors. "Butatama" is the best! The master is considerate and warmly greets regulars, tourists, and foreigners. Stay healthy and keep making delicious okonomiyaki without getting summer fatigue. The master told me to come back next month, so I must go. Next time, I'll try the yakisoba too. I feel like even a light eater like me could enjoy it now.

After a long wait, I decided to pass the time by lining up at the stall run by the master who announced their retirement in April. The collaboration between the older man, woman, and young person resulted in a poorly made pork and egg dish. The older man started making yakisoba, and I thought it would turn out okay, but then the master appeared from the cabbage. The final product was very satisfying and delicious. Pork and egg yakisoba - salt flavor.

I visited "Kiji" in the Umeda Sky Building underground mall, which was the 12th restaurant on my Osaka expedition. I couldn't get into the main store the day before, so I decided to try this one today. At 4:30 PM, when I entered the restaurant... it was empty! But by the time I left, it was full and the atmosphere was great with an elderly chef standing in front of the teppan. I ordered the pork okonomiyaki! The pork was not thinly sliced, but cooked as a whole piece of meat. This is what I wanted to eat! Inside, there was something like large shiso leaves, giving it a refreshing finish. I haven't been to the main store, but depending on the schedule, I might recommend this one instead! Thank you for the meal!

Surrounded by rice fields and mountains, the scenery is peaceful with occasional sea breeze. Walking around, I stumbled upon a huge building with a UFO-like structure between two buildings. Feeling a bit dizzy from the height, I went downstairs and found a retro Showa-style street called Takimi-michi in the basement of Umeda Sky Building. I lined up at a popular okonomiyaki restaurant and was seated at the best spot by a friendly lady. I ordered yakisoba, which was meticulously prepared on the hot plate in front of me. The final dish was delicious with a perfect shine, and the taste was amazing. Although I wanted a beer, I continued exploring as there was still much to see. The staff were enthusiastic and the whole experience was satisfying.
