Eel Rush! Recently, affordable eel specialty shops have been increasing. Even though it's called affordable, one eel costs nearly 3,000 yen, but this place has the lowest price at 1,700 yen. When a new place opens, I always want to go and try it. I'm grateful for these encounters and for all of the dining experiences!
Unagi no En Sapporo Main Store has opened today! There is parking space for up to 9 cars. The menu is as follows:
- Unaju (Grilled Eel Rice Bowl) Mid-Level (1 eel) 2,700 yen (tax included)
- Unaju Mid-Level (3/4 eel) 2,300 yen (tax included)
- Unaju Mid-Level (1/2 eel) 1,700 yen (tax included)
- Unaju Upper-Level (1 eel) 4,200 yen (tax included)
- Unaju Upper-Level (3/4 eel) 2,700 yen (tax included)
- Unaju Upper-Level (1/2 eel) 2,100 yen (tax included)
- Special Unaju (1 eel) 4,500 yen (tax included)
The mid-level unaju has less fat, offering a light texture, while the upper-level unaju has the perfect amount of fat for a rich flavor. The special unaju features the highest quality eel from Kagoshima, available in limited quantities of only 8 servings daily.
I chose the upper-level unaju (3/4 eel) for 2,700 yen (tax included). As a service, you can choose either a large serving of rice or oolong tea. I opted for the oolong tea. After ordering via QR code, my food arrived in about 10 minutes.
The skin was crispy, thin, and just right. The flesh was fluffy with a good amount of fat, and the sauce was smooth. You can change the flavor with the provided wasabi. The rice was delicious, so it would be great for those wanting a larger serving. They also offer sliced ginger and two types of pickles, which have a pre-made taste. After finishing my meal, I enjoyed a warm cup of tea, savoring the lingering taste of the eel.
