This is a copy of a review by Mr. Beryama, but originally it was from a restaurant called Bonchitei, which was known for its emphasis on hamachi (yellowtail). However, it didn't seem to be well recognized or appreciated by the locals. The restaurant also acted as a supplier for fish, and after a change in management or something like that, they underwent a renewal. At the start of the renewal, they had slightly higher-priced bluefin tuna on the menu, and I even took home a copy of the menu. I had left Katsura for a while, but since I was nearby, I thought I’d check it out.
In conclusion, it felt like a regular set meal restaurant, and since there aren't any competing places nearby, they seemed to be getting by. The daily special included grilled hamachi collar, spring rolls, and natural hamachi rice bowl, which suggests they have considerable confidence in their hamachi, as was the case previously. The freshness of the fish was good. The salad was pre-cut, and the spring rolls didn't show any particular attention to detail. Personally, I think it would be much better if they offered high-quality fish instead.
At 980 yen, they were full for a while, but given this quality, I doubt any older customers would return. It’s also inconvenient that they only accept cash. I actually wanted to have the rice bowl, but I couldn’t because the part-time worker took the order from a customer who came in after me, so I missed out on that, haha. There seems to be a system where the owner wouldn't hear feedback about such issues. As a local, I could only sense a difficult situation. Also, I questioned the presentation of the meal for 980 yen. That's all, just my critique as a former local. Good luck!! I’d like to go again.

At Higashi Ojisan Makanaitei near Katsuragi Station, I ordered the Hirekatsu Toji Nabe Set for ¥980, which comes with a nameplate and three parking spots available. You can choose from white rice, mentaiko rice, or kayaku rice, with free large serving options and unlimited refills. The main dish features two slices of hirekatsu that are a bit tough, and while the egg topping is well-prepared, the portion feels a bit modest for a main dish. I tried the mentaiko rice and later refilled with kayaku rice, which turned out to be surprisingly delicious. Next time, I plan to order the kayaku rice in a large portion.

I had the daily special set meal. That day, it was fried chicken with a garlic sauce and spring rolls. The small dish was a rolled omelette. For rice, I could choose from mixed rice, spicy cod roe rice, or plain white rice, and I could get refills with different types of rice. Miso soup was also available for refills. It was very delicious, and I would love to visit this restaurant again. I plan to recommend it to my acquaintances as well. Thank you for the meal!

I visited Chisouan Makanaitei for lunch (^.^). This place took over the previous Bonchitei location, and I've heard rumors that it offers generous portions and great value. It also has a parking lot, and lunch is available until 3 PM, which is fantastic (^ー^). For someone like me, who often finds themselves at lunchtime during off-peak hours, this restaurant is a welcome find ( ゚∀゚).
I ordered the daily special set meal (980 yen including tax). Today's main dishes were grilled beef with a scallion and salt sauce, and curry croquettes. It came with small side dishes, salad, pickles, soup, and three types of rice to choose from (’-’*)♪ The rice and soup are refillable, which is a nice touch (((o(*゚∀゚*)o))). The options for rice today were mentaiko (spicy cod roe), kayaku rice (mixed rice), and plain white rice. I opted for mentaiko rice first and then had a refill of kayaku rice ( ̄ー+ ̄). The kayaku rice was well-filled with ingredients and tasted very good (^q^).
The grilled beef was a bit tough and chewy (T-T), but the curry croquettes were just fine (^^). There’s such an extensive menu that I found it hard to choose, so I definitely want to visit again o(^o^)o. I'm particularly curious about the half-and-half set meal! If you're interested, I recommend checking it out (^ー^). Please note that they only accept cash for payment. There are three parking spaces available in front of the store. Just for your reference (^.^)(-.-)(__)

I entered the restaurant during lunchtime and ordered the daily special for 980 yen! I was torn between that and the seafood bowl, but I went with the stir-fried hormone instead! The rice is all-you-can-eat✨ The portion of the side dish isn't very large, but they actually top the rice with tororo (grated yam). With that, I could eat infinitely! I ended up having three bowls—so delicious!☺️

This is my first visit since being reborn. For some reason, I had a craving for a seafood bowl, so I decided to come in. I ordered the daily special, which is the "seafood bowl." I enjoyed it very much. I'm curious about the "Manly Jug" (^o^). I would be happy if the price range during lunch hours were set a bit lower. Hehe.

Today’s lunch was at "Chiso-an Makanaitei." It’s a Japanese restaurant located in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto, on the road between the Katsura Ohashi and Hankyu Katsura Station, right at the intersection by the Nishikyo Fire Department Katsura branch. It's in the building that used to be Bonchi Shokudo, but the exterior has been renovated. The interior is also nicely updated, though the layout remains the same. The narrow raised seating area from the previous restaurant is still there.
For lunch, they offer a wide variety of seafood bowls and a rich selection of set meals. It seems that lunch prices have risen in recent times. The appeal of the set meals is that you can choose two main dishes. Since they’re promoting the seafood bowls, I was intrigued by the sashimi and decided to order the "Sashimi Set Meal" for 1,780 yen. You can choose between white rice and kamaboko rice, so I naturally requested the kamaboko rice. The iced water was served in a large glass that’s usually for shochu highballs, which was a nice touch. It’s also great that they use disposable chopsticks by default.
After a while, a splendid sashimi set meal was presented. The kamaboko rice was moist and flavorful, making it enjoyable even without any sides. The miso soup had a rare ingredient—shiitake mushrooms—and was quite rich in flavor. One side dish was simmered eggplant, infused with broth. The main dish of sashimi was authentic and top-notch. The yellowtail was fresh and crunchy, the salmon had a good layer of fat, and the sea bream had a chewy texture. The quality of the seafood is high, but there are also many appealing menu items like fried chicken and "toro tama menchi katsu" that caught my eye.

The portion size is on the smaller side. The seafood bowl lunch is 980 yen, which is a reasonable price. The rice was a bit too hard for my taste, but it might have just been a one-time thing.
