Hello! I’m Fujiya, the PR ambassador. This time, I’m visiting a gyoza restaurant located a little down from Hankyu Saiin Station in Kyoto. It’s called Gyoza Shokudo Kyo Ton-Tama+ (33 Higashihinmachi, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto). The restaurant has 7 counter seats and 5 two-person tables. On the tables, you’ll find vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil, shichimi (seven-spice), mayonnaise, and Japanese mustard.
There are three staff members: the owner and two ladies. I ordered a serving of the fried gyoza set and a serving of stamina gyoza. You can choose your rice portion size: large, medium, or small, so I went with large. The water is self-service, and the restaurant has a clean feel to it. They even play cafe-like music, so at first glance, it doesn’t look like a typical gyoza shop. After a little wait...
The fried gyoza set and stamina gyoza arrived, totaling 1,243 yen. The round ones are the standard fried gyoza, and the other ones are the stamina gyoza. It comes with rice, miso soup, and pickles. I started with the fried gyoza. The skin is crispy, and the filling is delicious, especially paired with rice.
Next up is the stamina gyoza. Wow! What is this?! The garlic is intense! This is great with rice, and once you try this, you won’t want to go back to the regular fried gyoza. It seems this stamina gyoza is packed full of garlic. When you look at the cross-section, you can see it is overflowing with garlic – hello there! I enjoyed every bite of the rice and finished with the miso soup.
Everyone ate quickly and left, with customers continuously coming in and out. I’m also heading out now. Thank you! It was delicious!
P.S. They have an alcohol menu too, with four types of gyoza and either beer or lemon sour drinks available. They also offer points and coupons through their app!
