I visited here in Sapporo early in the morning. I was considering going to Nijo Market, but ended up at Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. This time, I ordered the recommended seafood bowl for ¥2000. The skate was delicious, and the sweet shrimp was also tasty! The amount of salmon roe was just right, and there were plenty of ingredients, so I was quite satisfied. There are other delicious-looking bowls at reasonable prices, and you can also buy your favorite ingredients on the first floor and make your own customized bowl.

This is a seafood Japanese restaurant located in a market outside of Sapporo Central Market. The market is bustling with locals and tourists, and this restaurant is a hidden gem in the back. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with 320 seats. I was amazed by the menu, which included sashimi of fish like hokke and hakkaku that you don't see in Osaka. The fish was fresh and delicious, a true seafood paradise. I will definitely visit again when I come back to Hokkaido. Thank you for the meal. Menu items included button shrimp sashimi, root hokke sashimi, hakkaku sashimi, dried squid sashimi, grilled herring, miso-marinated grilled silver cod, grilled pregnant smelt, seafood bowl, crab soup. Next to Sapporo Central Wholesale Market is "Hokkaido Gourmet," a shop in the outdoor market that specializes in selling a variety of seafood, with live crabs being their main focus. The on-site restaurant, "Hokkaido Gourmet Tei," offers the option to have your purchased items prepared and served on the spot by skilled chefs, providing a chance to enjoy the freshest and most delicious seafood from Hokkaido. Located about a 15-minute taxi ride from Susukino, the market offers a free shuttle bus for visitors. Upon entering the building, you will see tanks filled with live crabs and a display of fresh seafood. The staff are friendly and readily available to assist and provide recommendations. The items purchased as souvenirs for my family included: - Sakuramasu (Cherry Salmon) fillet: 3,220 yen - Miso-cured Atka Mackerel x1: 1,050 yen - Boiled Hair Crab (around 450g): 5,480 yen - Miso Ramen (1 serving): complimentary - Shipping and cooler box fee: 1,820 yen Total: 11,570 yen (tax included) I couldn't resist getting some salmon, so I opted for a half fillet of Sakuramasu. The Atka Mackerel was a good size and I chose a slightly smaller one from Hokkaido over the larger Russian ones. As a typical Hokkaido souvenir, I picked a hair crab, a standard 450g size from Tombe. These were all shared with my parents to give them a taste of Hokkaido. The checkout counter strategically placed at the back of the store tempted me to add more items on my way there. The staff efficiently handled the shipping process and even included a complimentary miso ramen in the package. While there may be cheaper markets out there, as an out-of-towner, I am always satisfied with the quality souvenirs I can find here. Hokkaido Gourmet Information: Address: 22-4-1 Kita 11 Jo Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido Phone: 011-621-3545 Hours: 6:00-17:00 Closed: Open daily

There was a free shuttle from the hotel, so I decided to go for breakfast! The market was quieter than I expected, maybe due to the pandemic. I headed straight to a rice bowl restaurant and ordered the bowl I had decided on in advance. The miso soup with grated yam was so delicious that I ended up buying some as a souvenir. The rice bowl had less seafood than I expected, but it was tasty. The crab was average, but the salmon roe was incredibly delicious. Overall, it was a good meal!

I ordered online for New Year's Eve 2020. It seems to be very popular nationwide and also online. After eating Toshikoshi soba, which is a traditional Japanese New Year's Eve dish, I enjoyed it with Sapporo Black Label beer, as I am in Hokkaido. The soy sauce was just right and very delicious. I plan to continue using this restaurant even outside of New Year's Eve.

When it gets hot, the symptoms of this designated rare disease worsen, especially in December with increased heating in hospitals and commercial facilities causing discomfort. There is no medication that works for me yet. Likes and comments may be delayed, thank you for your understanding. In March 2020, this is the 10th review, but visits are high. Sapporo Nijo Market has been touristy for a while, with locals hardly seen. "Northern Gourmet" is a shop in Sapporo Nijo Market, with a dedicated microbus for tourist groups. They sell live crabs, scallops, shrimp, and even giant live snow crabs. To attract locals, they hold events like the annual Great Fishing Festival and Anniversary Festival. The market, usually busy, was empty, even the bustling Northern Gourmet shop. Due to the new virus, there were more staff than customers. I spoke with a familiar staff member who mentioned they are minimizing perishable items to reduce waste. The crab tanks were half shut down. The Spring Anniversary Festival was uncertain. I bought the March special, "Frozen Okhotsk Scallop Sashimi 500g." I also got the Hokkaido limited edition tea rice topping "Hair Crab/Urchin" which is a household favorite. The scallops were fresh and sweet, a good deal. The tea rice topping has a subtle crab and sea urchin flavor and is a reliable product. Next time, I wonder what great deal I'll get. Delicious, thank you.

When it gets hot, the symptoms worsen, it is a designated rare disease by the government. As we enter December, the increased heating in hospitals and commercial facilities exacerbates my condition. Unfortunately, there is no medicine that suits me yet. Likes and comments may be delayed, so thank you for your understanding. [January 2020] This is the 9th review, so let's briefly revisit December 2019. Sapporo Nijō Ichiba Market has been touristy for a long time, with few locals seen. "Northern Gourmet" is a shop in the market with its own microbus for tourist groups. They have live tanks with crab, scallops, and shrimp. They even sell huge live snow crabs that department stores don't have. To attract locals, they hold events like the Daihoyo Fish Festival and the Founding Festival twice a year. This year's early winter events were held on November 30 and December 1. The traditional tuna cutting show was also held on both days. I visited both days this time. On the first day, I visited at 7 am. The temperature was below freezing, very cold, with a high of only 1°C during the day. The next day, I visited just before 10 am. The temperature was around 2°C, and the high for the day was 6°C, 5 degrees warmer than the previous day. This time, the newspaper flyer had a special offer for 100 people each day: "All-you-can-stuff live scallops for 1,000 yen." A newspaper flyer was required to participate, aimed at locals. They distributed "numbered tickets" since the last time, so there was no long line. I got a number in the 30s. As always, my companion handled the "all-you-can-stuff live scallops" while I was in charge of taking photos. The scallops were bigger than usual this time. The total weight this time was 1912g for 12 scallops. The freshness was excellent, with a crispy texture and great flavor. The price was 1,000 yen per session (tax included). The scallops were larger this time, making it difficult to fit them all in the bag. Since the scallops were big, the meat inside was also substantial, providing a satisfying meal. We grilled three scallops and ate three raw. The scallop ears were also delicious when grilled with butter. I look forward to the spring event. It was a delicious feast.

When it gets hot, the symptoms worsen, especially for this designated rare disease. As we enter December, the hospitals and various commercial facilities are getting hotter due to increased heating, causing discomfort. Unfortunately, there is still no medication that suits me. Likes and comments may be delayed, so thank you for your understanding. [January 2020] This is the 8th review, so I briefly visited in November 2019. The "Sapporo Nijyo Ichiba Market" has been developed into a tourist spot for a long time. Local people are hardly seen there. "Hokkaido Gourmet" is a store located in the Sapporo Nijyo Ichiba Market. In particular, "Hokkaido Gourmet" has its own microbus that brings in tourist groups. Inside the store, there are tanks with live crabs, scallops, and shrimp. On the first day, I visited at 7 am. The temperature was below zero and very cold, with a maximum temperature of only 1°C during the day. First, I had a seafood bowl at "Hokkaido Gourmet Tei". Since it was cold, I bought New Year's products and went home right away. ■ Russian extra-large Botan shrimp sashimi frozen, 1 pack weighing over 500g Actual weight: 600g, quite a lot. This time, it was very sweet. It's a good deal for 2 pieces. Price: 2 pieces for 4,280 yen (tax included), saving 620 yen for 1 piece at 2,450 yen (tax included). ■ Homemade Ikura No. 1 - Rishiri Konbu Dashi, 1 pack weighing 230g Actual weight: 600g, quite a lot. The clean taste of Rishiri Konbu Dashi was effective. It's a good deal for 2 pieces. Price: 2 pieces for 5,040 yen (tax included), saving 1,380 yen for 1 piece at 3,210 yen (tax included). ■ Hokkaido frozen scallops, uneven sizes, 1 pack weighing over 500g Actual weight: 550g, quite a good deal. The quality of the scallops was better than usual. Price: 1,910 yen (tax included). ■ Tora-Souhama live tarako (sliced), 100g, sold by weight at 390 yen. I got a larger one. It's a colorless tarako. The grains are firm and it goes well with warm white rice. The origin is American and Russian, but since the final processing is done in Tora-Souhama, it is a domestically produced "tarako". Price: 185g for 720 yen (tax included). This time, there were some good deals if you bought 2 pieces. All of them had a good taste. I enjoyed them deliciously during the year-end and New Year holidays. They were all of higher quality than usual. Sometimes there are disappointments, but this time I was particularly happy that there were no disappointments. I plan to come back again the next day. And I visited again (laughs). Thank you for the delicious meal.

Since they started distributing "numbered tickets" from the previous time, there was no long line. It was a significant improvement not to have to wait in the cold for a long time. I was number 34. While waiting for my turn for the "All-you-can-eat live scallops," I purchased some items inside the shop. With the numbered ticket, I was able to use my time effectively. As usual, my companion took charge of the "All-you-can-eat live scallops." - All-you-can-eat live scallops: This time, the scallops were larger than usual. The total weight this time was 2,200g for 15 scallops. The freshness was excellent, with a crispy texture and plenty of umami. Price: 1,000 yen per person (tax included) - Tiger Ashihama-produced raw tarako (cod roe) 200g: Uncolored cod roe with a firm texture and good taste, perfect with warm white rice. Price: 830 yen (tax included) - Hokkaido-produced frozen scallops, uneven sizes 500g: Actual weight measured at 550g, quite a good deal. The quality of the scallop meat was better than usual. Price: 1,910 yen (tax included) This time, the live scallops were larger than usual. I enjoyed sashimi, butter-grilled, and soy sauce-grilled scallops that day. Everything tasted delicious with beer. The joy of the all-you-can-eat experience is having a mountain of scallops. I was satisfied with the results of that day. The "Hokkaido-produced frozen scallops, uneven sizes" were enjoyed little by little with hand-rolled sushi and sashimi. The quality was better than usual. I plan to visit again in the fall. Thank you for the delicious meal.

My computer broke down, but I finally received a new desktop computer. I am currently in the process of transferring data, but it will take a few more days. Since this is my first time using Windows 10, I am struggling with the migration process. I will like and comment on posts once the migration is complete. Thank you for your understanding. [December 2018]This is the sixth review, so the Sapporo outdoor market has been a tourist destination for a long time. Local people are hardly seen in the area. Especially in the "Northern Gourmet" section, there is a special microbus that brings in tourist groups. Inside the stores, there are tanks with live crabs, scallops, shrimp, and even giant live snow crabs that are not found in department stores. To attract local people to the outdoor market, events like the Otoyofish Festival are held twice a year. This winter, it was held on December 1st and 2nd. The newspaper flyer advertised a special offer of "All-you-can-stuff live scallops for 1,000 yen per person" limited to 100 people each day. Participants needed the newspaper flyer to join the event, which was aimed at local residents. I went on December 1st for the "All-you-can-stuff live scallops for 1,000 yen per person" offer limited to 100 people each day. The staff, mostly older gentlemen, told participants to "stuff as much as you want," but also added, "please don't make a huge pile." In response, an older lady said, "The fun of stuffing is making a big pile," to which the staff rewarded her with ten cushions. Due to the staff's watchful eyes, my usual companion stuffed slightly less than usual out of consideration. The results were not as good due to the restraint. I came back the next day for a rematch (laughs). I arrived around 9:50 am for the 10 am start. This time, they distributed "numbered tickets," so there was no long line. It was a significant improvement not to have to wait for hours in the cold. I was number 59, so I waited for over an hour. During the wait, I bought some items in the store. ■ All-you-can-stuff live scallops This time, the scallops were smaller than usual but larger than the previous day. The previous day's haul was 1,980g for 15 scallops, while this time I got over 2kg with 16 scallops. The scallops were large and fresh with a great texture and flavor. Price: 1,000 yen per person (tax included) ■ Torazouhama-produced raw tarako (cod roe) - 200g A natural color tarako with firm grains and a good taste that goes well with warm rice. Price: 830 yen (tax included) ■ Hokkaido-produced frozen scallops - assorted sizes A pack of over 500g weighed in at 520g, slightly more than expected. Bought for the year-end, so it's still unused. Price: 1,910 yen (tax included) The live scallops were larger than the previous day. I enjoyed them as sashimi, butter-grilled, and soy sauce-grilled. They all went well with beer. Stuffing the scallops is indeed the fun part. I was satisfied with the results of the day. I returned the rating to 4.0 (laughs). Looking forward to stuffing more next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On the second day of the Hokkaido trip, after checking out of the hotel, there was free time until the meeting time to make your own way to New Chitose Airport using public transportation. It was a surprisingly casual group trip. Although some people couldn't go freely, as the organizer, I guided those who wanted to go to the "outside market". Unexpectedly, 25 out of 30 people joined in! Everyone got along well and had a great time. At the outside market, since we had already eaten breakfast, shopping was the main activity. The purchasing enthusiasm and style of the women in the group was impressive and energetic. I was called by the dominant woman in the group to "come shopping and help carry the bags, okay?" "Yes, understood ( ̄~ ̄;)" This person just kept buying and buying! Snow crabs, cod roe, herring roe, sea urchin, salmon roe, and plenty of seafood products, spending over 40,000 yen... Are you really going to buy this much here? I found out for the first time that they have carts at the store, not just at the supermarket. Thanks to her, I was able to try some crab samples (*´∀`)♪ Although I had no intention of buying anything since I have been to the outside market many times before, I decided to buy some shima hokke to take home. It says it's from Russia, but the ones here are bigger and have a different level of fat compared to those from Honshu! But shopping with her made me feel embarrassed at the checkout ( ̄▽ ̄;) In the end, she bought more crabs at other stores, but thanks to her, I found out that the outside market is the best place to shop by far (lol) Now, let's head to New Chitose Airport early! [Food log] ☆3.06 [Tanuki Rating (lunch)] ★Overall... 33 points ★Atmosphere... 7 points ★Food... 7 points ★Menu variety... 7 points ★Cost performance... 6 points ★Likelihood to revisit... 6 points

The total weight was 1,980g for 15 scallops. Last time, it was over 2kg for 12 scallops. Out of the 15, one was empty inside with traces of the scallop removed. That was a bit disappointing. Despite being small, the scallop meat had an excellent freshness and a crunchy texture, with a full umami flavor. Price: 1,000 yen per person (tax included) ■ Russian frozen Botan shrimp 1 pack weighing 500g or more Actual weight: 600g, quite a lot. It's for the year-end, so it's a good amount. Price: 1,910 yen (tax included) This time, the live scallops were slightly small. We enjoyed them as sashimi, butter-grilled, and soy sauce grilled. All of them were delicious with beer. The freshness and taste were excellent. All-you-can-stuff is indeed fun with a mountain of scallops. Next time, I want a mountain of scallops. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The head chef of a famous sushi restaurant in Ginza recommended a place near Sapporo where you can eat fresh and delicious fish. He gave me his business card and said I could use his name when visiting. As he said, there were two places next to each other: Hokkaido Gourmet (souvenir shop) and Hokkaido Gourmet Tei (dining hall). When I tried to find the acquaintance of the sushi restaurant's head chef, he happened to be off that day (laughs). So, I reluctantly tried a little bit of the souvenir snacks and decided to go to the Hokkaido Gourmet Tei next door. The staff there were so kind and it was a pleasant experience. Even though I said I wasn't going to buy anything yet, they let me try the souvenir snacks. Thank you very much for that! I ended up buying a few snacks (laughs). Thank you for the meal!
