I was taken to this restaurant by an acquaintance living in Sapporo for the first time. I had indulged in plenty of sea urchin and salmon roe the day before, but since I was in Hokkaido, I was fine with having seafood every day. The first thing I ordered was a large platter of sashimi called "Hakodate-yama platter," I think? On top of this came something rare for Tokyoites, which was raw surf smelt. It was fatty and flavorful, absolutely delicious. The sashimi platter also included Hokkaido scallops, shellfish, and botan shrimp, all of which were fresh and tasty. The only complaint I have is that the tuna was a bit mediocre. Then there were the salmon roe and sea urchin. The salmon roe here had a slightly sweet seasoning, which I quite liked despite the small quantity. The sea urchin was purple sea urchin, but it was incredibly rich, without any fishy taste, with firm and sweet grains. I have tried purple sea urchin at various places in Sapporo, including sushi restaurants, but if I were to rank them, the purple sea urchin here would definitely be in the top tier. I also recommend the fried dishes such as cream crab croquettes, octopus tempura, squid tempura, and enoki mushroom tempura. The choice of using enoki mushrooms was fantastic. However, only matcha salt was served, I would have preferred regular salt. And of course, the highlight was the live squid! Although the spear squid I wanted was out of season, the common squid had a chewy texture with a hint of sweetness. When it comes to live squid, there is nothing to complain about, it was delicious. The drink selection was extensive, including a variety of sake, and they also had a Hokkaido-specific lactic acid bacteria drink called "Katsugen," which was used in some cocktails. This is definitely a restaurant I would want to visit again when I go to Hokkaido, highly recommended.
