I recently discovered a 3-night stay package at a hot spring inn in Hokkaido that is the "most affordable" option, but it only offers three types of meals. Therefore, if you stay for almost a week like a spa retreat, you will have the same meals twice. Even the campsites in Kawatabi and Abashiri, whether it's Wako or Sunayu, have pricing that is almost outrageous, surpassing even the Kanto region. So, compared to the campsites, this option is much cheaper. The Sandoyu campsite where I used to camp every year is now too expensive, so I will pass through and go to the town-run campsite by Lake Abashiri in Abashiri. It seems to be a place where construction workers and others stay rather than tourists, but they have Wi-Fi and, most importantly, it's very cheap. The intensely sulfuric hot spring is amazing. For me, it's like paradise. Haha.
