This is my second visit for commercial use. As before, I went up to the second floor. Except for our seats, it was already full. It's quite popular, which is a good thing. After being extremely satisfied during my previous visit, I decided to come back. This time, I ordered the sea bream shabu-shabu course. The highlight of this restaurant is, without a doubt, its fresh seafood dishes. This is evident in various dishes, but the clearest indication is the sashimi. After the first dish, five types of sashimi were served, all glistening and fresh, so much so that even an amateur could tell the difference compared to average izakayas.
The main dish is the sea bream shabu-shabu. In spring, it's all about sea bream! When I return home to Kansai, I enjoy it as a salt-grilled dish with just a hint of yuzu pepper, but it’s been a while since I had shabu-shabu. If the fish isn’t firm, it tends to fall apart, but that was not the case at all. I quickly dipped it in the broth, and as soon as the flesh turned white, I ate it, and it was truly delicious. I enjoyed the broth in a rice porridge for the finale. I appreciated the balance of not focusing solely on seafood but also incorporating meat. It’s clear they take care in the composition. The variety of sake available is ample. The only downside is the uncomfortable seating, but aside from that, there's nothing to complain about. This is a hidden gem tucked away in an unassuming alley.

Located just a 2-minute walk from Ningyocho Station, this charming hidden restaurant is housed in a renovated traditional Japanese house. The first floor features counter seating, while the second floor has table seating, making it enjoyable for both solo diners and groups.
Here’s what I had:
Standard Course with Fresh Fish - ¥6,000, including all-you-can-drink sake with about 20 varieties.
◆ Chawanmushi: A richly filled steamed egg custard with a refined flavor that was delicious.
◆ Iwate Prefecture Raw Oysters: Plump and fresh, with a sweet taste – very tasty!
◆ Sashimi Platter: Includes Kinme (alphonsino), Hobou (filefish), red tuna, horse mackerel, and yellowtail. Each piece was fresh, flavorful, and had a wonderful texture.
◆ Grilled Local Fish: A dish that pairs perfectly with sake, with concentrated umami flavors and an elegant taste.
◆ Spicy Fried Chicken Wings: With a sweet and spicy sauce, the skin was thin and crispy while the meat was tender – the perfect companion to drinks!
◆ Pressed Sushi with Local Fish: A refreshing sushi to wrap up the meal, with tasty rice.
◆ Dessert: This time it was cream puff ice cream! Delicious!
Each dish was truly delightful, and the highlight of the course was the all-you-can-drink sake. It turns out the restaurant runs a sake shop as well, offering a wide selection, including some wonderful sake. For sake orders, you can choose your own "ochoko" (sake cup), which adds a nice touch to the experience.
The interior is clean, and the staff is friendly, creating a comfortable atmosphere. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I requested a plan with all-you-can-drink options at a cozy restaurant that looks like a renovated house tucked away in an alley. I learned that they used to operate a fish shop alongside it. The sashimi is served with a rich soy sauce from Ozu, Ehime. The all-you-can-drink menu has a great selection of sake, and it’s nice to find the beer option includes the delightful Akaboshi. It’s an affordable place that makes me want to visit again!

I ordered the fried horse mackerel set meal. I felt that the overall cooking was done with care. The horse mackerel fry was probably made from sashimi-grade fish. The chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) was especially delicious. I made it just in time since today was the last day for the lunch special!

I made a reservation and arrived at 18:35. I ordered a sashimi platter (for one), buri sashimi, grilled seasonal fish with saikyo miso, and sake, specifically Kikuhime Yamahai from Ishikawa Prefecture. The sashimi was fresh, had a nice sheen, and was delicious. Additionally, the variety of sake available was quite impressive.

I ordered the premium all-you-can-drink plan for 4,500 yen, and it was great to find so many high-quality brands available. I truly wanted to try every single option, but of course, that wasn't possible, so I'll definitely go back to taste more of the sake. The shirako ponzu was incredibly delicious, and I ended up eating two servings of it.

A lovely restaurant renovated from an old traditional house. During lunchtime, we were taken to the second floor. It was a relaxing space where I could comfortably chat with my friend. I ordered the Maguro Toro rice bowl. The tuna was delicious, and the chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard) was also tasty with a rich dashi flavor.

I heard that there’s a great fish restaurant in Ningyōchō, so I decided to visit. It’s located in a narrow alley, and the building looks old—maybe it’s a renovated traditional house. The exterior has a stylish vibe. I started with shirako (cod milt). This shirako was delicious! It was creamy and simply irresistible. I should have paired it with sake.
For sashimi, I ordered a set for 1200 yen, which included bluefin tuna, black rockfish, flounder, yellowtail, salmon, and scallops. The cuts were beautifully presented. Among these, the bluefin tuna was the best. The scallops were also very sweet and enjoyable.
The recommended fried horse mackerel was impressively large. I took a bite of it hot with their original tartar sauce—so flavorful! It's best when it's hot.
The shirasu (whitebait) cheese pizza was huge! The cheese was incredibly stretchy—probably the best stretch I’ve ever seen! The cheese was rich and plentiful, so the flavor of the shirasu didn’t come through strongly, but it was still tasty.
They have a great selection of sake, and even offer varieties that aren’t listed on the menu. They can also recommend sake based on your preferences. Definitely a spot for sake lovers!

The restaurant is located in a slightly hard-to-find alley and is a two-story house, creating a cozy atmosphere that I personally liked. The fish was delicious, but the chawanmushi (savory egg custard) and the fried horse mackerel were especially tasty. I would definitely want to revisit this place when I'm nearby.

The restaurant is small, but it has an excellent variety of sake! The seafood-centered dishes are delicious and comparable to the nearby grilled offal restaurant Hyottoko (which I have visited many times). It's a great hidden gem for couples or small groups looking for a seafood izakaya. Despite recently suffering from a thoughtless arson attack due to an inbound incident, the owner and staff remained cheerful and attentive to their customers!

I used this restaurant for an alumni gathering in Ningyocho, which has a charming atmosphere as it was converted from a traditional house. The food and drink menus are extensive, and they seem to have a strong focus on sake, although I find it a bit challenging... The appetizer was a tuna cubes dish topped with chopped okra, seasoned with a dashi soy sauce. I didn't check the price for the appetizer, but I believe it was worth it!

The restaurant is located off a side street in Ningyōchō and has a cozy atmosphere, resembling a traditional Japanese house that has been renovated for business. I went up to the second floor to check the menu. They have a good selection of sake, including plenty of Japanese sake, and the draft beer is Super Dry, but they also serve Red Star in bottles. I was looking forward to it. I started with chawanmushi (steamed egg custard). Overall, the portion sizes were not very large, but everything was delicious. The sashimi, in particular, was thick and had amazing flavor. It became fully booked in the meantime, which shows it's popular. I thought I would definitely come back, but then I headed to a second place...

I usually order from the à la carte menu, but today, since I was dining with my brother-in-law and nephew, I decided to try a course menu along with our reserved seats. It seemed like there wasn’t enough food for my growing nephew, so we ordered several additional dishes, but it still only came to about 7,000 yen per person. We enjoyed a variety of sake and left fully satisfied! The young staff were very pleasant, and I can’t find anything to complain about! This izakaya is truly wonderful.
- Regular Course at Tachiou: 6,000 yen
- Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard)
- Five kinds of sashimi
- Spiced & herb grilled chicken wings and chicken thigh with rock salt
- Red fish served with a bite-sized ponzu sauce
- Seasonal pickles platter
- Tuna and fatty tuna rolls, tekka maki
The quality of the sushi was outstanding, and I must mention the chawanmushi that was served first—smooth, delicious dashi broth with various ingredients. The chicken was juicy, aromatic, and delicious. The rolls were huge and filled with fresh tuna that could rival those from a sushi restaurant! This course is well-balanced for those who enjoy drinking!
- Fried Chicken: 700 yen
I ordered this for my nephew. Although I didn’t eat it, just watching the juicy, piping hot, crispy dish made it seem delicious!
- Shirasu Pizza: 1,250 yen
This is a must-try. The thin, crispy crust is piled high with shirasu (tiny white fish). It pairs beautifully with cheese! Despite being a pizza, it's great with sake as well. I wish they had a smaller size available so that smaller groups could enjoy it too.
I heard they had suffered from a fire and were closed the day before, so I was lucky to visit today. However, since the gas was damaged, they were preparing dishes using a gas stove. Thank you for your hard work under such difficult circumstances!

The order was as follows: 1. Highball 2. Tazaka (Junmai Ginjo Yamahai) 3. Assorted sashimi (one serving, 6 types, 1 piece each) 4. Fried red fish with ponzu sauce 5. Isojiman (Daiginjo Junmai 45) 6. Topping with negitoro 7. Houou Bidan (Hatsushibori Junmai Ginjo). The appetizer (me-kabu and okra in vinegar with mentaiko) was also included. I think it’s rare to find a place where I can enjoy my favorite Tazaka and Isojiman at the same time. It’s wonderful. However, there were some issues with the food. Despite the limited menu, many items were sold out, and I couldn't order what I wanted. It felt like I had to order dishes that I wasn’t really interested in, just to accompany my sake. I also don’t think it was a great value for money. It’s a shame that the excellent selection of sake isn’t being fully utilized. Such a waste. Thank you for the meal.

The selection of sake is incredible, and the fact that it's all-you-can-drink is truly impressive. I don't think any other restaurant can offer this. For sake lovers, this is the best izakaya in Japan. The food portions may not be large, but the sashimi is fresh and delicious, and the chawanmushi is packed with flavor and incredibly tasty. It's the best place! It seems that a second location will be opening nearby soon.

I went on a weekday at 11 AM. There were three types of lunch options available. I ordered the sashimi set meal for 1500 yen, while my friend had the fried horse mackerel set meal with sashimi for 1200 yen. The sashimi was served on a beautiful wooden platter, piled high, making it look luxurious. It included fresh and delicious cuts of tuna, otoro (fatty tuna), bonito, horse mackerel, snapper, salmon, scallops, sweet shrimp, and negitoro (minced tuna with green onions). My friend's fried horse mackerel looked fluffy and seemed tasty as well. They prepare the food on the first floor and bring it up to the second floor. The miso soup was generous, and the chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard) was filled with plenty of ingredients and delicious. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the meal!

I walked along a back alley of Ningyocho and found a newly opened restaurant that seems confident in its fish dishes. I tried the fried horse mackerel set meal. It's a small place, but there are a few seats on the second floor, which might be suitable for evening gatherings. Besides the fried horse mackerel, I was also tempted by the sashimi set and the seafood bowl. On a side note, I did find the smell from the drainage pipe a little concerning when I entered.

I visited for a dining meeting. The course with all-you-can-drink was 7,000 yen, and there were decent choices of sake and shochu, including Tomino Hozan, which made for a high level of satisfaction! The food was also satisfying, mainly focused on fish. However, the interior and chairs felt a bit cheap, so I think it's more suitable for casual gatherings.

This is a must-visit place for sake lovers. They offer an unlimited selection of 25 types of sake, including Isojimanjyo Daiginjo and two types of Kikuhime, among many others I hadn’t tried before. They pour generously! The sashimi was great and the food was delicious. However, the stairs are steep, and there is only one restroom, which might be tough for women, so I lowered my rating a bit. I definitely want to go back to this place.

I used this restaurant for a course meal with friends! The all-you-can-drink sake selection was extensive, and I enjoyed trying various kinds. It's rare to find "Saku" available in a drink-all-you-can option. All the dishes were delicious, but the chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) was particularly tasty with a rich flavor of dashi. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great, and considering the course content, the price was reasonable, so I would definitely like to use it again.

I visited "Tachi-uo," where I could enjoy rare Japanese sake and exceptional seasonal fish! The restaurant was packed and had a lively atmosphere. Here’s the course I had ▼【Special Course Featuring Hon-Maguro and Kinki from Iwate】 with 2 Hours of All-You-Can-Drink (including sake) for ¥7,000.
○ Fried Satoimo Dumplings: Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Dipped in a sweet, thick sauce and paired with a little wasabi for a perfect accent—it was delicious.
○ Sashimi Platter (5 kinds): We had Chutoro (medium fatty tuna), Buri (yellowtail), Hotate (scallop), Salmon, and Tai (sea bream). Each piece was thick and fresh, with a sweet, rich flavor bursting in the mouth. The chef expertly selected the fish for its moisture and fat content, ensuring outstanding taste.
○ Homemade Kinki Fish (one-night dried): The moderately fatty, fluffy flesh was irresistible. Eating it with grated daikon radish made it even better, enhancing the flavor and pairing perfectly with sake.
○ Beef Harami Kushi Katsu: Crispy and hot beef harami skewers. The meat was thick yet surprisingly tender. The sweet and spicy special sauce matched perfectly with the kushi katsu.
○ Soy Sauce Pickled Nagaimo with Mustard: Following the kushi katsu, the pickled nagaimo was a perfect palate cleanser. The crunchy nagaimo was incredibly fresh! I tried adding mustard for the first time, and it surprisingly matched well, refreshing my mouth.
○ Hon-Maguro Sushi (two types): Once in my mouth, the rich flavor and sweetness of the tuna spread beautifully. The texture was so good it melted in my mouth.
○ Dessert: Today’s was kiwi, which was fresh and sweet.
○ All-You-Can-Drink: They offer about 20 types of sake from various regions. Since it's all-you-can-drink, I indulged in some higher-end options (laughs). Each was easy to drink and delicious. For those who find sake challenging, there are also fruit wines and other drinks available.
This was my number one place to revisit in Ningyocho! If you love sake or fish, you must check it out!

I made a reservation for the "Tachiuo Light Course" at 6:30 PM on Tuesday. The chawanmushi had chunks of white fish in it, and the sashimi was delicious! There were many varieties of sake available, and I think it was a good value for the price. (However, the portion sizes were a bit small, so some people might feel it’s not enough.)
