Sometimes, lunch buffets at Chinese restaurants in Tokyo are featured on evening news programs, and I've been curious about them. I hesitated to go because I worried it would be overcrowded and the food would be gone. However, feeling like having Chinese food one day, I suddenly decided to visit a place I'd bookmarked for a lunch buffet. It's located in Shinbashi, a bit of a distance from the station, on the second floor of the Sotetsu Fresa Inn, accessible via an outdoor staircase. I initially had trouble finding the entrance and ended up walking a long way around.
Upon entering, I paid 1,000 yen at the register right in front. They also accept cashless payments. After that, I received a tray and a cup and sat at a table of my choice. I arrived around 12:45 PM, and the restaurant had a pleasantly moderate number of customers. It might be a hidden gem since it's a bit away from the station. The crowd mainly consisted of office workers.
The selection of dishes that day included mapo tofu, stir-fried green peppers with beef, shrimp and egg in chili sauce, stir-fried short ribs, liver with chives, stir-fried bok choy, mapo eggplant, cold cabbage, small fried dumplings, and a vegetable salad, along with white rice, fried rice, and thick Chinese soup. For dessert, there was almond jelly. The beverage pitcher contained brownish iced tea, which could have been mugicha (barley tea) or oolong tea, although I wasn't sure.
Paper napkins, wet wipes, chopsticks, and soup spoons were neatly arranged in one place for self-service. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations, but they had a solid selection of popular dishes that were replenished frequently. The flavors were relatively mild, and everything tasted good. At just 1,000 yen, it was quite a bargain! I really enjoyed it. The restaurant is fairly new, giving it a clean atmosphere that would make it comfortable for women to use. The restrooms were also clean and separated by gender.
I definitely plan to return the next time I’m in the mood for Chinese food. Thank you for the meal!
