YKNK-DS
After enjoying domestic raw lamb in Sapporo, I became intrigued by Jingisukan (grilled mutton)! I discovered a street sign for "Kanna," which I had been curious about, and decided to visit for the first time! It was Thursday at 8:30 PM, and the restaurant was very crowded. Luckily, there was no wait to get in, but I was surprised by its popularity. The space isn’t very large, so they seem to have a strategy of maximizing seating, resulting in a narrower chair spacing. Once seated, a charming staff member carefully explained the different meats and recommendations.

The staff grilled the first plate for us and explained how to achieve the perfect doneness, suggesting a semi-raw, slightly grilled state as ideal. The lamb (raw lamb, fillet, and sirloin) each had distinct flavors and were delicious—especially the sirloin! It had a good amount of fat, and after grilling, it was incredibly tasty, making it a unique experience for Jingisukan. Of course, tastes vary, but I personally found it to be a hit! Also, the dipping sauce was delightful! It had a gentle flavor, possibly with ginger. Besides the sauce, we could choose from cumin, chili, and garlic salt for flavor variations. Mung beans were offered for free, and we could request more. However, there were no other vegetables like onions on the menu. While I would have loved to see them, I understand it's part of the restaurant's style.
The vegetable lamb soup was surprisingly without lamb—it was a mild-flavored soup with vegetables, which was still enjoyable. The staff were attentive, frequently clearing away empty plates and displaying a friendly demeanor, which left a very positive impression. We ate quite a bit, but the overall cost was lower than expected, offering great value for money! I have found another favorite restaurant!
