I visited "Uo Junin Katsu" located in Yoyogi. The restaurant opened on September 2, 2024, and it seems to be a renovation of the previous establishment "Sushi Sakaba Sazae." I arrived around 7:10 PM on a Tuesday and was able to sit at the counter. The interior is clean and has an open feel to it. The staff is energetic and the service is excellent.
The "Otoshi" ( appetizer) is 550 yen, and you can choose from three different types. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was served cold, making it a perfect choice as an appetizer!
I tried the "Iburigakko with Toro Taku" for 580 yen, which had a good texture and was delicious. The "Tuna Tekkamaki" was also 580 yen, already seasoned with soy sauce, and it tasted great.
The "Corn Tempura" priced at 680 yen had a unique shape. It is eaten with salt, and it was fluffy and tasty! The "Plum Suison" for 680 yen had a wonderful crunch, and the "Today's Kotsume" was also 680 yen, featuring a flavorful horse mackerel marinated in kombu. Adding the salt from the tempura to it made it even better!
I also had "Ala Dashi's Nori Soup" for 250 yen, which had a gentle flavor and was delightful! To finish off, I enjoyed a "Draft Beer" for 680 yen and "Kuro Kirishima" for 580 yen—the standard sweet potato shochu variety. They seem to have some hidden drinks, so it might be worth asking!
Overall, I found everything delicious! Personally, I felt the portions were a bit small, but being able to try a variety of dishes was enjoyable. They also offer a service where you can bring in fish you’ve caught and have it prepared as a course, which could be great for a company gathering since I work for a company run by a fishing enthusiast! If you're looking for delicious seafood in Yoyogi, I highly recommend this restaurant!
