We finally landed in Hakodate, Hokkaido, and I was really looking forward to it. Oh, but don't forget, we're here for work. Let's call it an "adult field trip" for now. On this day, we went to my sister's favorite restaurant in Sapporo and ordered the following: - Assorted Tempura ¥1,200 - Lily bulb tempura (forgot to confirm) - Corn tempura (forgot to confirm) - Assorted Sashimi ¥2,000 - Assorted skewers ¥680 - Shredded mountain yam ¥350 - Asparagus butter ¥700 - Grilled shishamo (smelt fish) ¥550 - Cold seaweed rice ball ¥280 This restaurant is just amazing. Everything is delicious. With my sister from Sapporo, we always end up at great places. The tempura was delicious, the sashimi was top-notch, and the skewers were fantastic. The side dishes were also perfect for enjoying with drinks. And that seaweed rice ball was made with natural seaweed from Nariinose-tana, giving it a strong seaweed flavor. It was a satisfying meal. The restaurant was bustling, as expected from a popular spot. We had a great time. Thank you for the meal!

This is my second visit. This large tempura restaurant offers a wide range of home-cooked style dishes, making it difficult to decide what to order. I started with pickled herring and soba onion blanc. I also ordered bamboo shoot grill, warabi tataki, udo vinegar miso, garlic from a local supplier, abalone, live squid, silver cod kama, red flatfish, shrimp yurine tempura, and pork skewers. I enjoyed trying various dishes, and the tempura was indeed delicious. The fried squid tentacles were also fried deliciously. There are still more dishes I want to try, so I will visit again next time.

This is my third time visiting, and I always get excited by the wide variety of menu options. This time, I ordered the Tempura Pizza, Fresh Squid, Duck Liver, Flounder with Ponzu Sauce, Sand Dab Tempura, Grilled Conger Eel, and Fried Atka Mackerel. The Atka Mackerel was particularly impressive, with a tender and fresh texture. The squid was a bit small, but still delicious.

On a snowy night, I walked to the restaurant with a growling stomach. I made sure to walk carefully due to the icy roads, and arrived in about 30 minutes. In Hakodate, I had been longing to try "squid sashimi" and "kobu-jiru". Unfortunately, I couldn't find "live squid" like I had hoped, but the regular squid sashimi was still fresh and delicious. I also tried the "Nameta karei" stew, which was thick and flavorful, especially the Engawa part. Next, I ordered the "yurine ebi tempura", which was crispy and not greasy. I also discovered "gokko-jiru" on the menu, a local Hakodate dish made with deep-sea fish called "gokko". It had a strong salty taste and included eggs along with leeks and tofu. Overall, the meal cost 4,350 yen. I took the tram back home to avoid slipping on the icy roads.

A single-family house near the large Hakodate Chuo Hospital that mainly serves tempura but also offers a wide selection of sashimi. As you enter the restaurant, you'll see a tempura counter where you can enjoy freshly fried items. There is also a counter at the back of the restaurant where you may be seated. With table seating and private rooms available, the restaurant has a somewhat formal atmosphere suitable for business meetings. The menu is displayed on a board with many small items written in difficult-to-read small print, so it's best to carefully consider the restaurant's recommendations. I ordered "live squid sashimi," followed by "minke whale sashimi," and "flounder fin sashimi." The live squid was clearly prepared from a live tank, with a slightly aged flavor. The flesh was semi-transparent, chewy, and flavorful with just the right freshness. The minke whale was slightly fibrous with a rough texture, also aged slightly. The flounder fin was very thick and had a melty sweetness. As I was dining alone, these three dishes provided ample portions, allowing me to leisurely enjoy my drink. There was no rush to clear plates, which was a nice change from typical dining experiences. For the finishing touch, I decided to order the recommended tempura, which turned out to be an enormous dish. It consisted of a base of onions with seafood such as squid and shrimp, along with pumpkin and a unique root vegetable with a distinct flavor I had never tasted before. Despite its distance from the bustling downtown area, the restaurant seemed popular with reservations steadily coming in. There were no loud or disruptive customers, and the friendly staff made for a pleasant dining experience.

The taste is average level. I didn't feel like it was particularly delicious or bad. What I'm more concerned about than the food is the attitude and way of speaking of the staff. Please go and experience it for yourself (laughs).

I visited this restaurant for the second time. The interior is simple, but the food was delicious starting from the appetizer, so I had high expectations. I ordered a mixed tempura platter, ohitashi, grilled fish, and everything was delicious. It was summer, and when I was wearing a cardigan, the staff asked me, "Is the room temperature okay? Should I close the window?" and it made me happy that they cared. I want to go again ^ ^

Fugu shirako tempura, shrimp tempura, mushroom tempura, and mountain vegetable tempura were all delicious! The sashimi was also top quality... the octopus was great too... and the cost performance was excellent. When you come to Hakodate, this is the place to go. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming! Next time, I will bring my family.

The pizza was excellent, but the tempura was also amazing! We finished with onigiri and miso soup, and it was very satisfying.

This is a place I often use for banquets, as it offers decent food at a reasonable price. The private rooms are a plus, but keep in mind that the sound from the neighboring rooms can be quite loud, so it may not be suitable for business discussions (or secrets!). The menu for this occasion was a course with all-you-can-drink for 5400 yen (tax included), including appetizers, sashimi, soup, delicacies, meat, simmered dishes, fried foods, sushi, and gratin. The variety of dishes is quite impressive. The taste is satisfying, as mentioned earlier. However, ordering drinks through an intercom can be a bit of a hassle (laughs). Anyway, I had a delicious and enjoyable time getting drunk once again today. Now, off to the next stop at a cute little place run by a lady!

Today, there were four of us dining. We arrived around 17:15 and it seemed like the restaurant was fully booked, but they managed to prepare a private seating area for us. I remember getting frustrated last time because the service was slow, but today should be okay since the party hasn't started yet. We toasted with highballs. The appetizer was anglerfish liver with vegetables, which was delicious. We had a sashimi platter with tuna, medium fatty tuna, whelk, and white croaker, even though it was supposed to be three types, there were four. We also had spear squid sashimi and cured mackerel. The meal ended with a light dish. We enjoyed a vegetable salad and a tempura platter with spring vegetables like butterbur sprout and bracken fern. Everything was crunchy and fresh. We also had pork skewers and fried chicken. This time, the service was quick and all the dishes were delicious. They had eihire (dried skate fins) for sale at the counter, so we bought some to enjoy at home, and it was incredibly tasty. (March 2018) 3.6

I visited Tempura Tenhachi located behind Hakodate Chuo Hospital. The restaurant has counter seats, tables, and tatami rooms, suitable for individuals or small groups as well as larger parties. Despite being a small establishment, the menu is impressively extensive. The owner seems to be a skilled and savvy manager. The recommended menu item is the tempura. The restaurant also offers all-you-can-drink courses for groups, with options including hot pot, sukiyaki, and sushi courses. Sashimi, grilled fish, tempura, and other dishes are served in generous portions. While ordering a la carte may offer better value, the restaurant is still a decent option for parties and gatherings.

I was taken to a restaurant that my friend often visits. It was close to 10 pm, but it seems they stay open late. It's a tempura restaurant, but they have various other menu items to choose from! They serve freshly fried tempura such as shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, asparagus, and onion. The shrimp was plump and the vegetables were crispy. Personally, I thought they went well with salt. They also had a mysterious rolled sushi called "Tsugaru Maki"... I'm from Tsugaru, but this was my first time trying it (laughs). Maybe this is a local specialty somewhere. We enjoyed the delicious food, had a great conversation, and ended up staying late. My enjoyment of visiting Hakodate has increased (*^^*)

I have used this place many times before, and today I came with several colleagues to have drinks. Although it's called a tempura restaurant, they actually have a wide variety of izakaya (Japanese pub) dishes. The second floor is for banquets, while the first floor has more of an izakaya feel. This time, we used it as an izakaya. We ordered quite a lot of food! The squid is in season now, so we had "Yari Ika" (spear squid), which was delicious. The homemade cured mackerel was excellent. For a spring touch, we also had tempura of taro sprouts, new onions, and fried hokke fish. Since it's a tempura restaurant, the fried food is really tasty. They also have pizza and sausages. We also had tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) and karaage (fried chicken). We had a delicious and enjoyable time getting a bit drunk today. Thank you for the meal! We'll visit again soon.

Visited Tenpachi for the final stop of the night in Hakodate, after a full night of eating and drinking. The photos are only from the third stop as there are no photos from the first two stops. We had already eaten a lot, so we opted for lighter dishes. The pickled herring was a bit too sour and seemed past its prime. The morning squid sashimi was delicious as always when in Hakodate. The udo with vinegar miso was a simple and refreshing dish. The vegetable salad was light and perfect for a tired body. The pork skewers were decent. Next time, I want to come back for tempura at the first stop. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

Welcome. Around Goryokaku, a local favorite izakaya called "Tempura" is highly anticipated. The atmosphere seems comfortable with a counter and many box seats; there are many families. Even though it's in Hakodate, it feels more like a "tempura-focused izakaya" rather than "Edomae tempura." The chef looks young and humble, while the waitress is friendly and cheerful. Due to a typhoon, some sashimi dishes were unavailable, including the rare "live squid." The highball was a good start. The fried eggplant in broth was tender and flavorful. The pickled herring had a strong acidity, but the flavor wasn't fully developed yet. The squid tempura had a crispy batter, but the meat was hollow and lacking in flavor. The "live squid" was not to the reviewer's liking. The sea pineapple sashimi had a bright color and a unique taste, which the reviewer found a bit challenging. The surf clam sashimi had a good texture, and the salt-grilled silver cod was moist and flavorful. The sea lettuce rice ball with dried fish flakes was soft and had a hint of seaweed flavor. Overall, the reviewer found the food to be average and preferred another restaurant for "live squid."
