A cozy shop near Sumikawa Station where you can drink at a reasonable price and enjoy delicious appetizers. It's great for drinking alone or chatting with other customers. The nostalgic music playing in the shop, listening to the master's stories, and shedding tears while listening to Takako Okamura's "Yume wo Akiramenaide" - it's a wonderful experience.

I used it for lunch in Sumikawa. It is convenient, just a 1-minute walk from Sumikawa Station. Since I am health and environmentally conscious, the restaurant Wakamisudo, which offers food with fewer additives, is a perfect match for me! The curry rice also has an original taste, which is unique. It seems that the food menu is also rich at night, so I would like to try it at night as well (^-^)

I started having shaved ice! Upon hearing the news, I immediately went out. The weather was nice, so I went from Susukino to Nakajima Park, crossed the Toyohira River, and headed to Sumikawa. I arrived around 1:30 pm. It was past the lunchtime peak, and there were only solo female customers. Later, an elderly woman who seemed like a regular customer arrived, followed by a group of two men. I was looking forward to having shaved ice! But when I placed my order, I was told that it will be available from next week... what a disappointment... I ordered the Waffle Set, which included a Belgian waffle with vanilla ice cream and mixed berries on the side. I chose iced coffee. If you choose hot coffee, it costs 700 yen, but if you choose iced coffee, it costs 750 yen. They should write both options on the menu. The waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The vanilla ice cream had vanilla beans in it, giving it a great flavor. The mixed berries were frozen, including strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The iced coffee was slightly acidic with a rich flavor, probably made with beans specifically for iced coffee. I'll have to come back for the shaved ice next time. Also, there are too many interesting shops along Hiraishi Street. I need to go on a patrol to check them out.

Sapporo City, Minami Ward, Sumikawa. It's been a long time since I took the subway Namboku Line to Sumikawa for a little expedition. Waka Sumidou. This place is known for its delicious cafe and curry during the day, and as a cozy dining bar in the evening. I visited in the evening this time. Just a minute or two walk from Sumikawa Station's ticket gate is this building on the first floor. The entrance area has a spacious feel, with a signboard displaying the shop name near the parking lot or portico. Inside, the atmosphere is calm, with lots of monochrome photos on the walls from various places around the world, giving it a stylish vibe. It seems like the owner loves to travel, having worked and lived in different places both in Japan and abroad, which adds an interesting touch to the place. There are two counter seats by the window, a 4-person table in the center, and 2-person tables at the ends, making it a cozy little shop. I ordered a bottle of sparkling wine from Spain, as they had fresh oysters from Okayama Prefecture that day. The oysters were delicious and full of flavor. I also had a feta cheese salad, steamed mussels salad, chili con carne, tripe stew, and a delicious anchovy pizza as snacks. The prices were reasonable, and I would definitely visit this place again if I lived in Sumikawa. I forgot to try their curry as I got carried away with the snacks and drinks, so it's something to look forward to next time.

It's a place in Minami Ward, right next to Sumikawa Station on the Nanboku Line. The reviewer visited a new tempura restaurant but found it temporarily closed, so they decided to try another restaurant they found on Tabelog. They ordered the "Beef Tendon Curry" and enjoyed the spicy and flavorful curry with tender beef tendons. The curry had a good balance of spice and saltiness, and the reviewer liked the European-style taste of the dish. Overall, they enjoyed the meal and finished everything on their plate.

It had been about 3 years since my last visit to this place, where I didn't take any photos or write a review. So this time, I thought I would write about it... The interior of the restaurant has changed quite a bit. I ordered the creamy cheese curry and the classic beef tendon curry set. The rice has changed from white rice to turmeric rice, and it comes with toppings like carrots, okra, baby corn, and plenty of Fukujinzuke (pickles), making it very colorful. The cheese had a nice brown crust on top. The curry sauce apparently contains aged black garlic, but there was no strong smell, and it seems like it could be good for your health. The beef tendon in the curry might make your skin plump and smooth. The spiciness seems to be milder than before, but the flavor has increased, making it delicious. There was also a mini salad, which was unusual. They also had the trendy Jerusalem artichoke tea on the menu, which I heard is good for blood sugar, high blood pressure, triglycerides, and dieting. For dessert, I had the affogato, with espresso served separately for you to pour over the vanilla ice cream. You can clearly see the vanilla bean specks in the ice cream. The multifunctional supported employment support center, Clover's, also sells Jerusalem artichoke tea, chips, black garlic, and miscellaneous goods. I will definitely come back again.

After finishing my errands in Sumikawa, I stopped by this cafe that I had passed by a few times before but never had the chance to visit because they were closed on Sundays. The sign outside said "Feel free to come in for just coffee," so I decided to check it out. The master of the cafe was very friendly and welcoming. When I looked at the menu, I noticed something unfamiliar - "Kikuiimo Tea" with a special offer of getting a second cup for free! Who wouldn't order that, right? The Kikuiimo Tea (300 yen including tax) was served in a pot and had a lovely aroma. It tasted delicious, with a flavor similar to soba tea or burdock tea. Even the second steeping had a nice flavor, although it was a bit lighter. My companion ordered the ice cream set (500 yen including tax), which came with a hot coffee and a wafer. They were delighted with the treat. This cafe seems to specialize in curry, so I look forward to trying that next time along with another drink. Thank you, Wakamisu-do, for the wonderful experience!

On a certain weekday, I had lunch in the Sumikawa Station area but still had some energy left, so I decided to wander around a bit. Soon enough, I spotted a curry sign and immediately headed inside. The cafe serves black garlic beef tendon curry for lunch and transforms into a bar at night. There seems to be no parking lot, so be mindful of using the space in front of the shop, which belongs to the neighboring barber shop. The interior is filled with the aroma of spices, with a small space consisting of two counter seats, a single-person table, a 6-person table, and some stylish decorations on the walls like photos, bottles of alcohol, and a guitar. The background music playing is a cool jazz vibe. From the menu that day, I chose the black garlic beef tendon curry set (750 yen) with an additional topping of cheese (+150 yen). When the dish arrived, the server warned me that the front of the plate was quite hot, which I confirmed by lightly touching it. The cheese on top seemed to be slightly burnt, possibly from being torched with a burner. The curry itself was a rich and slightly sweet concoction with a hint of bitterness, gradually building up spiciness. The server offered me some coffee creamer to mellow out the heat, which indeed made the curry taste milder. The curry had a generous topping of Gouda and Mozzarella cheese, adding depth to the already flavorful dish. The beef tendon didn't seem to have a significant impact on the curry. The dish also included boiled (or rather, microwaved) carrots, baby corn, and okra, with a side salad of shredded cabbage dressed with aurora dressing. I finished the meal with a cup of coffee. Thanks to this experience, I was able to enjoy a curry with black garlic and beef tendon. Thank you for the meal.

I moved from Kikusui to Sumigawa by subway and arrived at a targeted restaurant, but it turns out they open at 5 pm instead of 4 pm as advertised. It's frustrating that they didn't correct it even though they are a registered business. However, I stumbled upon two other restaurants nearby that open at 4 pm, making Sumigawa a great place for early drinking. I decided to go to "Wakamisudo" which has been open for over a year but isn't even registered. Inside, there are friendly middle-aged men managing the place, with counter seats, a central table for six, and even terrace seating outside. The walls have TV monitors and two guitars, suggesting the owner may be a musician. The lunch menu features curry, and they started evening service in May 2019. They only serve bottled beer, with Kirin Lager and Classic available for 500 yen each. The prices are reasonable, and the curry is a highlight even in the evening. I ordered a Classic beer, octopus carpaccio for 500 yen, and was served a complimentary onion salad. The octopus carpaccio was served with a variety of fresh vegetables and a good amount of dressing. Although the octopus was not as firm as expected, the vegetables were fresh and the dressing was flavorful. I wanted to try the curry, but I had other plans that ended up changing drastically later on. The restaurant closes at 9 pm, so it's a good place for early evening drinks or curry with beer. I look forward to visiting again.

I visited for lunch alone. It is located under the elevated tracks at Sumigawa Station. I sat at the counter and ordered the beef tongue curry with a bottle of cola. The curry included okra, carrots, and baby corn. The beef tongue was tender and delicious.
