"Ban Coffee Shop" is a specialty shop that specializes in dark roasted coffee, founded in 1973 in Shibino and later relocated to its current location. I personally found this shop interesting during my Osaka expedition, and since I visited the shop that moved to Morinomiya this time, I thought it would be a good opportunity to take a break and visit. The entrance of the shop has a roasting machine and a sign saying "coffee-only shop". The interior of the shop has a cozy atmosphere with dim lighting, high ceilings, and antique furniture, creating a nice and relaxing ambiance. There are table seats and a counter-style large table seat. When I visited around noon, there were no other customers. After looking through the menu that was brought to me, I decided to fully enjoy the dark roast and ordered the "Ban Black" (950 yen). After a few minutes of waiting, a pre-coffee to prepare the palate was served in a short glass. Although the color of the coffee in the glass looked diluted, the taste was satisfying with a good aroma. Then, after 2-3 minutes, the "Ban Black" arrived. Served in a demitasse cup without a handle, it had a dark color typical of a dark roast, with a noticeable bitterness. However, thanks to the pre-coffee, the smooth taste and rich flavor were enjoyable, and the pleasant aroma lingered in the mouth. The background music was played at a low volume, creating a quiet atmosphere perfect for focusing on the coffee. Photography was not allowed in the serene space, but the delightful blend of bitterness, richness, and aroma in the dark roast coffee made the visit more than satisfying. Although my stay was not long, I found a place to relax and enjoy the charming blend of flavors, and I would like to visit again when the opportunity arises!

The two staff members were kind and lovely. However, I couldn't fully relax due to the photography ban and time limit. It's a shame because it's a wonderful place, but it's my issue.

I ordered B: 10g beans with 100cc for 700 yen and C: 20g beans with 80cc for 800 yen to compare. B had a clean bitterness and was easy to drink. C had a strong bitterness with almost no acidity. A specialty coffee shop located just south of Osaka Castle Park and west of Morinomiya Station! Inside the shop, there is a calming light and warm music flowing through a vacuum tube amp. Unfortunately, photography inside the shop is prohibited. The menu offers different blends: B Type uses 20g of beans for 150cc, C Type uses 30g of beans for 80cc, and Ban Black uses 40g of beans for 60cc. Ban Black, named after the shop, is a luxurious cup made with three times the usual amount of beans for half the amount of coffee. I ordered the C Type, which had a rich taste reminiscent of aged wine. I left the shop thinking I should have ordered the Ban Black as a coffee lover who enjoys dark roasts. As for the taste, coffee is a matter of personal preference, so whether it's delicious or not depends on individual tastes. The coffee here is made by grinding dark roasted beans finely, using a lot of them, and pouring hot water slowly, or by brewing espresso beans with a regular drip method. This taste is quite unique and hard to find elsewhere. Personally, I think the price of 700 yen is too high for this area, considering that it costs only around 50 to 100 yen to make a cup. There were many rules for customers, such as no photography, no PC use, and a one-hour time limit, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable before even enjoying the coffee. The coffee cups were "Royal Copenhagen," but the glasses were cheap "IKEA" ones, which made me feel like they were trying to be fancy but missing some details. Ban Coffee Shop in Morinomiya. There were seats available (no one was there). Photography is prohibited. The Ban Black (1,000 yen) was ready in 10 minutes. First, a light coffee is served as a palate cleanser. Presumably, the light coffee is served beforehand to acclimate the palate for the intense Ban Black. The Ban Black itself is rich in aroma and color, served in a smaller cup than regular coffee. When consumed, it feels like a caffeine rush, reminiscent of smoking a cigarette (I do not smoke anymore! I used to smoke in my youth, but I no longer have the smell of cigarettes on me and actually dislike the smell of cigarettes. Smoking has no benefits and many harms, so let's quit smoking. I only mentioned cigarettes as a comparison). The intensely strong black coffee kept me awake all day, but it was a delight for those who enjoy dark roasts.

I usually only drink light roast, but this changes everything. The taste was so shocking. Oh, it's a great shop. Dark roast coffee is profound. I'm getting deep into it. Today's cake was chiffon cake. It was full of cream. It goes really well with coffee. It's a cake made for coffee. It was a great shop.

There was a sign saying "No photography allowed," so I only took a picture of the outside. I looked at the menu and ordered a Ban Black for 950 yen. The blended coffee has a small amount of hot water compared to the large amount of beans used. The coffee comes in Type B, Type C, and Ban Black, in order of increasing strength.
