I went to PIZZA Transit! Welcome to Honbetsu Town Semisato, where a pizza shop has opened a new store from their original food truck. For the residents of Honbetsu, it's truly a warm welcome. I visited during lunchtime. I had planned to try their lunch pasta, but it wasn't available yet, so I'll try it next time. Since it's a pizza place, I'll definitely try their pizza next time for takeout. They have a lunch menu with a Napoletana for 800 yen. It took a bit of time, but it arrived. It looked rich and flavorful, but surprisingly not too heavy. It had a good balance of flavors and wasn't too sour, which was nice. The young owner seemed to be working hard. I wonder if it's run by siblings? The location may not attract a lot of customers, but I hope they become a part of the community. Thank you for the meal.

2023.03.09~ Pre-Opening 2023.03.21 Grand Opening This morning, I received information from my friend D that they are starting their pre-opening today, but I already had four plans for the day... However, I had to go because the temporary cafe I had booked for the day got postponed due to some issues. So, I'm heading there now. When I contacted them, they praised my "action after a year" (which was not true) and I drove about 56 km to reach PIZZA Transit. I parked near Senmari Station and managed to find a seat at the counter with only 3 seats and 5 chairs. I was curious about the Tokachi Pizza, which had a white sauce base made from Tokachi ingredients (potatoes, corn, Tokachi mash). I asked which one was tomato-based, and I ordered the Margherita for 1100 yen (other options included salami and garlic sausage). During the pre-opening period (3/9~3/20), they offered a complimentary drink, so I ordered a hot coffee that they roast in-house. They stretch the dough after taking the order, and then bake it in the pizza oven (probably electric). The staff explained that the pizza has a thin crust, so it's larger than a medium size. According to a newspaper article, the dough is made from two types of wheat, one from Otofuke and the other from Italy. The thin and crispy pizza had a rich tomato sauce flavor (not too tangy), a good balance of mozzarella and cheese, and it was delicious. I was aware of their food truck presence in the area, but I wish I had tried it sooner. The menu was basic, but they plan to introduce seasonal pizzas as well. I asked if they would have the seasonal pizza with "monk garlic marinated in soy sauce and mirin with mozzarella cheese," which they said they would consider depending on the season. I'm really looking forward to that! The coffee had a refreshing acidity to it. Once they have their grand opening, they will start serving pasta and other dishes (available for takeout), and I can't wait to try their pizza sandwich. Thank you for the meal.
