Tonight, I went to a Spanish bar in Umeda, Osaka. The state of emergency has been lifted, and alcohol is finally allowed again. I heard that a charming restaurant area in a bar style opened on October 8th in the B2 floor of Hankyu Department Store. Excitedly skipping over, I arrived at the sister restaurant of my favorite place in Nara, "Acordu," called "Donostia comeru." Although it's a new opening, I first heard about this place in Tokyo just the other day. New bar-style restaurants always make me excited. The interior of the restaurant is simple yet clean, with chairs that don't have backrests, giving it a true bar vibe. Surprisingly, there weren't many customers in the restaurant area. I was worried, but when I entered the restaurant, I found out why. I ordered a draft beer from the staff, but to my surprise, they said, "Actually, we can't serve alcohol." It seems that Hankyu Department Store's alcohol permit application was delayed and didn't make it in time for the lifting of the state of emergency. It will take about another month. Even though izakayas in Umeda are bustling, it's strange to see fewer customers in a new floor opening of Hankyu Department Store. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink for now. Since I can't get drunk tonight, let's at least enjoy the food. - Arroz Meloso de Mariscos (880 yen) - A popular rice dish at Donostia. A Spanish-style risotto cooked in a rich seafood broth with shrimp and fish. The hot ceramic pot is filled with a rich seafood soup with clams and seafood bubbling inside. - Plancha of Foie Gras and Red Wine-Braised Pig Trotters (880 yen) - Plancha is a Spanish grilled dish. Foie gras sautéed in a rich sauce and pig trotters braised in red wine. The tender braised pig trotters have a slightly chewy texture, and they go well with the creamy foie gras, revitalizing a tired body. This authentic and reasonably priced Spanish bar offers substantial dishes. Clearly, red wine is a must. The staff members are all friendly and have a refreshing smile, especially Chef Nakajima, who is tall and looks handsome even with a mask on. I have a feeling that young female customers will increase. A good impression even for a food-loving old man like me. I will visit again once they can serve alcohol. Thank you for the meal.

The Hanshin Tigers championship sale offered sparkling wine for only 180 yen per glass!!! Thank you Hanshin! The food variety is limited and all are light dishes. I would be happier if the baguette was more crispy. It's quite soft.

This shop is located in a fun area in B2 of Hankyu Department Store. When I came last month, they were already closed, which was disappointing, so this time I made sure to come back for revenge. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter and started with a slightly sparkling wine called Chacoli. I also ordered a tapas platter with 3 items. They were all delicious, with high scores even in the Umeda area! I then moved on from Chardonnay to a red wine called Croserohen, and finished with a seafood stewed risotto called Aros Meloso. It's a popular restaurant, so if you time it right, you can enjoy delicious Spanish cuisine with good wine in a casual and enjoyable atmosphere.

I had been curious about this shop. Two men entered as an extension of the bar. We were satisfied with the wine and food provided at the counter, but I thought the cost performance was better in the new Umeda dining area. I thought the appetizers, fried chicken, and sausages that go well with Spanish wine were well thought out. I would like to use it when I go to Hankyu Department Store.

I visited the restaurant after a long time, but both the menu and the staff had changed, and the overall quality had dropped. It seems like the menu has been reduced significantly. The meat that used to be delicious was surprisingly tough this time, to the point where it felt like a different dish. Was it a problem with the quality of the meat or the way the older man cooked it? It used to be one of my favorite places, with young staff who were friendly and delicious meat and other dishes, so I am extremely disappointed. On a side note, I was also surprised by the loud noises made by the older man when cooking with pots and pans.

I also visited a casual bar in Hanshin and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The wine was decent too, but it was a bit too cold for my liking despite having a full-bodied taste. It seemed like the wine might have been stored at 12 degrees in the large cellar at the back. Such a shame.

Nara's master chef "Acordei" sister store "Donostia" has appeared in the Hankyu Bar! Enjoy dishes that combine Spanish Basque regional cuisine with Nara's ingredients and materials from the Kinki region at the popular restaurant "Donostia". The shop at the Hankyu underground (B2) bar has received high praise and this was my first visit! Recently, department store basements and gourmet streets have been thriving! The name "Comer. Donostia" combines the Spanish word "eat" with the Japanese word for "rice". The sister store on the same floor, "La Cuchara de Donostia", offers a light standing style, while "Comer" here is a bar where you can have a proper meal. The concept is to have a hearty meal with authentic Basque cuisine at reasonable prices typical of a bar! The interior is an open counter style, making it easy for solo diners or couples to enter. However, when I visited, the chef was working alone, so the food service was a bit slow. Nevertheless, the service and food were very polite and the atmosphere was comfortable! - Arroz Meloso: A Spanish-style porridge made by simmering in a soup extracted from roasted seafood bones. Creamy when combined with sour cream. The rice, infused with the flavor of seafood and tomatoes, is perfectly al dente! This is Comer's specialty! - Comer-style Fried Chicken: Crispy fried chicken with Romesco sauce (made from nuts, paprika, and tomatoes). It's delicious! - Wine-steamed Mussels with Cheese Flavor: I love mussels, and the cheese flavor is rich and enhances the wine! - Longaniza's Brunch: Spanish sausage, Longaniza, with brioche! Delicious no matter which one you choose! This place is a hit in the Hankyu Bar! The prices are reasonable, and we had change left over after spending 4000 yen for two people. Being inside Hankyu Department Store is convenient in the upcoming season, as you can reach the restaurant without going outside. The alcohol selection is extensive, and the sherry wine was delicious. - Sherry Fino: 600 yen - Dark Beer: 550 yen This time, we mainly had light tapas, but I look forward to trying heartier dishes like "Yamato Beef Plancha" and "Basque-style Cod and Clam Stew". Thank you for the meal!

It is a small restaurant with about 10 counter seats. Two girls visited and ordered 5 dishes and 2 drinks each, costing around 6000 yen in total, so about 3000 yen per person. The dishes they ordered were: carrot, fruit, and prosciutto salad, octopus blancha, Basque-style stew with cod and clams, seafood arroz meloso (Spanish risotto), and chicken Karaage with romesco sauce. I am not good with alcohol, so I ordered grape juice, which was really delicious.

I came to Baruchika's Donostia Comer because I felt like having something a little different for dinner after having had a churrasco during the day. It seemed to be a popular place as it was full, so I had to wait for about 20 minutes. Once a seat opened up, I went inside. It seemed like there were only counter seats, and it looked like the owner was managing everything alone. First, I had a toast with white wine. This time, I had: - Comer. Kaze: Crispy fried chicken with Romesco sauce, which had a nice spice and texture. - Mussels steamed in wine with cheese flavor: The slightly rich flavor went well with the wine. - Longaniza Blancha: Spanish sausage Longaniza sautéed with two slices of brioche. - Arroz Meloso with seafood: A Spanish-style risotto that fully absorbed the umami of the seafood. It was even more delicious when sour cream-like sauce was added. All the dishes were delicious without any misses. However, the serving time was quite slow because the owner was managing everything alone. Since we had eaten a lot of churrasco during the day and weren't very hungry, we were fine waiting with no rush. I'm not sure if it's always a one-person operation, so if you have a time limit, it might be better to check the situation inside before entering the restaurant! Thank you for the meal!

Visited the Spanish restaurant "Comer. Donostia" at the Hankyu Department Store underground bar for the first time. - Kujo green onions with sherry vinegar - Fried chicken (with romesco sauce) - Cod tortilla (Spanish omelette) Sprinkling chili powder is a Spanish style, giving each dish a unique and delicious flavor. The cod in the omelette adds a rich umami taste. - Basque-style stew with cod and clams (served cold) - Seafood arroz meloso (Spanish risotto) Even though the cod and clams overlap, the flavors are undeniable. The rice in the risotto is distinct like paella. Spanish cuisine suits Japanese tastes well. The total cost was 4700 yen, which is less than 2500 yen per person.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. Two girls entered and sat at the counter of this small restaurant with about 10 seats. Despite its size, it didn't feel cramped, and it had a calm atmosphere located at the back of the Hankyu Bar Alley. I also saw a few solo female diners. We tried the Yocowa (which was actually Yocowa today since they didn't have bonito, a good impression), duck, squid fritters, chicken karaage, and seafood porridge (which had a fancier name). They were all beautifully presented and delicious, with just the right portion sizes to try a variety of dishes. They also offer several types of wine (by the glass or bottle) and non-alcoholic drinks, so it's suitable for non-drinkers too. The staff were nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The taste and ambiance were at a level that you wouldn't expect from a department store basement, making me want to go back again.

After visiting a museum, I decided to grab a light meal somewhere nearby and ended up at Donostia in the basement of Hankyu department store. I loved the lunch I had at their previous location in Daibiru, so I decided to give it a try. There was a line when I arrived, but luckily I managed to get in just before they opened. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable, just like the previous location. I had already been drinking sake, but decided to have some wine as well. I ordered the following dishes: Cod Omelette with rich flavor from the cod broth absorbed by the eggs, Seafood Risotto cooked in shellfish broth, Basque-style Stewed Cod and Clams with a delicious broth that soaked into the dish, Roasted Japanese Duck with Apple Puree and Balsamic Vinegar. Everything was delicious, especially the duck with apple! I wish they would reopen the location in Daibiru. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Stretching a bit to a Spanish bar. Had a quick drink with my junior at Hankyu Bar in the basement of Hankyu Department Store. It's usually a casual izakaya, but we decided to splurge a bit and go to a stylish Spanish bar. The place has been selected as one of the top 5000. Started with a draft beer, then ordered some prosciutto, omelette rice, mozzarella pincho, and octopus plancha. Had a glass of white wine for the second drink, followed by a glass of red wine for the third. Finished with another draft beer for the fourth. It was a quick one-hour drink, but the octopus plancha was delicious.

I had lunch at the Spanish bar "Donostia Comeru" located in the Hankyu Umeda main store, on the basement 2nd floor next to Hankyu Bar Alley. The restaurant is known for its Basque-style rice stew dishes. I had the "11:00-15:00 limited set" (1600 yen), which included: - Salad - Spanish ham - Tortilla (omelette) The ham was delicious, and the omelette had a gentle flavor. - Arroz Meloso with seafood A Spanish-style risotto made by simmering soup with seafood bones. The creamy rice, infused with the umami of the seafood, was delicious. - Basque cheesecake Rich and creamy, with a crispy burnt top. I was very satisfied with my first experience of Spanish cuisine.

It was just past 1 o'clock in the afternoon as the end of the year approached, and there were no customers. The lunch menu had only one option. The romaine lettuce salad with sprinkled powdered cheese and soft ham was delicious! The omelette with sweet potatoes was decently seasoned and came with a tartar-style mayonnaise. The seafood arroz meloso consisted of clam, white fish, and mushroom risotto with a hint of tomato flavor. For dessert, there was Basque cheesecake, moist with a subtle acidity. The staff, managing everything from cooking to dishwashing and payment by themselves, seemed to have a menu just for the busy holiday season. It cost 1600 yen.

A famous Spanish cuisine sister restaurant in Nara. Donostia Comer is a standing bar in the basement of Hankyu Department Store, with a circular counter where you can order wine. They offer a nice selection of wines like Cava, natural wines, and orange wines. The tapas menu is also varied and attractive. Since it was our second stop that day, we ordered light dishes - chorizo wrapped in croissant with a spicy and rich flavor, and Basque cheesecake. This bar area has various famous restaurants, so it's worth visiting multiple places. I will definitely go back again.

Arrived around 6:30 pm on a Friday night. The restaurant was full with no waiting list. After about a 10-minute wait, we were lucky to get in just as a couple was leaving. It was two of us, and we ordered 5 dishes and 1 drink each, which came to around 4800 yen. The fried squid and duck were particularly delicious. We left before 8 pm, but there were about 3 groups waiting, so I recommend going early on weekdays. The staff seemed a bit understaffed, so the turnover at the restaurant didn't seem very fast. It's recommended for those who want to have a leisurely dinner with 2 or 3 people while chatting.

The restaurant is located in a not very noticeable position, but it always has a long line. I finally managed to get in on my third try. It was around 6 pm on a weekday and there were enough seats for 2 groups. The rice dish at the top of the menu was delicious. The service was also wonderful.

Donostia Comeru is a Spanish restaurant located a 3-5 minute walk from Hankyu Umeda Station. It opened in October 2021 and has received high praise, even among the top restaurants in the basement of Hankyu Department Store. Despite being fully booked on weekday evenings, the service was attentive. We tried the Patatas Bravas, Cod-flavored Tortilla, and Longaniza Plancha, all classic Spanish tapas that pair well with beer, wine, or sherry. The dishes included a fluffy omelette with plenty of butter, crispy fries to dip in mayonnaise or spicy sauce, and a spicy chorizo-like sausage. Each dish was perfectly sized and delicious! The prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for a casual drink and meal. I highly recommend a visit. Thank you for the meal!

The theme of this floor seems to be potions in small quantities, perfect for casual drinking. The Nara-produced duck heart and mushroom teppanyaki for 770 yen were only two pieces, not tough and juicy mushrooms. The seafood Arroz Meloso for 880 yen was like a bouillabaisse risotto with a Japanese-style aioli sauce. I should have also ordered something that would be served quickly. The Gaintza Txakoli, a Basque lightly sparkling wine, was poured like the tears of a god. The Bomar Viura-Malvasia and Pagode Bardo Chardonnay-Hojiblanca (Mencia).

I visited for dinner for the first time. The restaurant was full of beautiful female customers. The name of the restaurant, "comeru," seems to be a combination of the Spanish word for "eat" and the Japanese word for "rice." However, when conjugated as a verb, it sounds a bit obscene. I wonder if it's just me who thinks that? Anyway, we ordered Tortilla, mussels, beef blancmange, and cheesecake, along with 4 drinks, and the total came to about 6600 yen. The food and wine were reasonably priced and the taste was amazing! Thank you for the delicious meal.
