Today, I was aiming for a lunch in Yaesu and decided to visit Little Taiko-ryo Fei again. I had been there a few times since autumn but found it closed. However, I recently heard that the manager and head chef from the Fei location have opened a new restaurant in the same spot after independent from Fei (I guess I was late to get that news, haha). Since it looked like there wouldn't be too many business people working due to the possibility of light snow today, I thought it would be a good time to go.
To my joy, they had opened in January! And it’s run by the same staff from Fei! I was thrilled that I could enjoy the same quality. I ordered the lu rou fan set with shuumai included. The set was a reasonable 1200 yen and came with two substantial shuumai and a serving of almond jelly. The shuumai were filling, with a flavor that made me wish I had a beer. They’re quite large too.
The lu rou fan had just the right amount of seasoning. Many places tend to make it too overpowering with star anise, but here the flavor was perfect for a Japanese palate. Even when I poured the sauce over it, it wasn’t overly salty, and typically, rich dishes leave you thirsty, but not this one. The rice had the perfect texture, coated just right with the sauce, avoiding being mushy—truly high quality.
As for the almond jelly, it was homemade, not from a package, silky yet mild in flavor. I’d love to come back in the evening for drinks! The place remains popular and usually has a line, but today was relatively quiet, so I was able to get in quickly. I’ll definitely visit again!

The restaurant opened in the space of the former Little Taiyohro Fei, and I had the set that included Hot and Sour Soup Noodles for 1200 yen; the noodles alone are 1000 yen. Since it comes with two shumai and almond tofu for an additional 200 yen, it's quite a deal. The Hot and Sour Soup Noodles were a well-balanced dish, the shumai were cheap and delicious, and the almond tofu could use a little improvement! Overall, it was a great lunch trio. The photo is from my visit at that time. Thank you for the meal! As a note, by 11:30 AM, the restaurant is fully booked. They only have large tables for sharing, so if you arrive late, you might have to wait outside on a chair.

I recently visited "Chinese Kitchen MIDORI" in Yaesu for lunch. I had no idea about the place until I went, but I learned that it opened after the previous restaurant, "Little Taikōrō," closed due to the pandemic. The manager and the head chef from that restaurant started this new one. The interior remains mostly unchanged from the time of Little Taikōrō, except for the signage.
The lunch menu features rice dishes and noodles. Since it was my first visit, I decided to go with the "fried rice" set that includes shumai. I noticed that while Little used to serve gyoza, they now offer shumai instead. After about 10 minutes, my order was served.
The fried rice was cooked to perfection, with a simple yet delicious mix of BBQ pork, eggs, and green onions. It was very similar in taste to what I remembered from Little Taikōrō, and the shumai that came with the set was large and meaty, which I really enjoyed. I finished my meal with a serving of almond jelly that was included in the set.
I hadn't stopped by this building since Little Taikōrō closed, but I’m glad I happened to visit. It turned out to be a great lunch experience. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The set comes with almond jelly and two shumai, making it a great deal. The darluo is served with a thick sauce, which is perfect for cold days. It includes shrimp, fluffy scrambled eggs, bok choy, napa cabbage, black fungus, and pork, making it quite filling. The signature shumai is large and very satisfying, and it was delicious, so I highly recommend the set. The almond jelly was also authentic and tasty.

I had the an-kake Chinese soba for 1200 yen. Since it was past 1 PM, the place was not crowded. I opted for the daily special an-kake soba. It was delicious, but I think I prefer the da-lou noodles. The shao-mai seemed larger before... or maybe it’s just my imagination. Anyway, the lu-rou-fan is definitely my favorite.

Little Taihokuro Fei, a popular restaurant, has closed down, but the manager and head chef have independently opened a new place. On this day, I was craving Lu Rou Fan (Taiwanese braised pork rice), so I ordered it as a set. The set included two shumai and almond jelly for 1200 yen. Since I visited after the peak hours on a weekday, the main dish, Lu Rou Fan, arrived in about five minutes, which was quite fast. I was in a hurry, so this was really appreciated.
First, the shumai were served. They were meaty, juicy, and fluffy, making them delicious. The Lu Rou Fan was slightly different from the authentic Taiwanese version; the scents of star anise and five-spice powder were subtle, and the flavor had been adjusted for Japanese taste, appealing to a broad audience. I personally desired a bit more kick, so I added the restaurant’s special chili oil from the table, which turned out to be quite tasty and allowed for a nice flavor change. It added a pleasant spiciness that was just right.
For dessert, the almond jelly was similar to that from the previous restaurant — light and refreshing with a mild flavor. After finishing my meal, I felt satisfied and appreciated the cost-performance ratio, especially for this price in Nihonbashi. Next time, I think I’ll try the noodles. Thank you for the meal!

I visited with friends on a weekday. The lively atmosphere really whetted our appetites! We ordered the dhal noodles, and I was happy with the large portion. It also came with a generous serving of meat-filled shumai, which was a nice touch. Both dishes were delicious, and I really enjoyed the meal. Thank you!

I had the pleasure of visiting Midori for the first time, and I must say, I loved it! The water dumplings (6 pieces) were 900 yen; they were filled with plenty of juicy leeks. You can enjoy them as they are, or with a touch of mustard—both options are great! The crunchy potato salad was 760 yen and it was so thin—very professional! The garlic flavor was intense, making it feel like a small bowl that you could devour in one bite.
Then I had the black vinegar sweet and sour pork (1630 yen), which featured generous chunks of meat! The pork was cooked and then deep-fried until crispy, making it incredibly delicious and satisfying. The accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked as well. For the finale, I ordered the stir-fried noodles with gravy (1100 yen), which had a soy sauce-based gravy on top of the noodles—it was delicious!
There are still some intriguing menu items I didn't try, so I will definitely be back!

This restaurant has a great reputation and is very popular. I once tried to visit, but there were a lot of people waiting outside, even though the place had just opened, so I decided to leave. However, I returned with two colleagues and arrived before the 11:30 opening time, but there were already people waiting. It was clear that the restaurant was highly sought after. We entered right as the doors opened, and I was glad we arrived early. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed. We sat at a table near the entrance and ordered a set meal of Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice). This was my first time trying this particular type. I had eaten it many times in Taiwan and Japan before, but they were never this saucy. The meat was crumbled and topped with other ingredients like boiled eggs, drizzled with a sweet and savory sauce, but this restaurant's version felt more like a rice dish with a thick sauce on top. This was quite a surprise for me. However, it was very flavorful, and the seasoning was well absorbed in the meat, making it delicious! There was also plenty of vegetables. The sauce was nicely balanced and sweet-savory. Since it was a set meal, it included two shao mai (steamed dumplings), egg soup, and almond jelly, all for 1,200 yen. It felt very worth the price. Overall, I was very satisfied and am looking forward to trying something else on my next visit.

I visited around 11:30 for lunch. The restaurant was about half full, and by just before noon, there were people waiting. Today, I had the steamed dumpling set meal with 6 pieces for 1,200 yen. The set with 4 pieces costs 1,100 yen, so adding 2 more pieces is an extra 100 yen. The pricing for 6 pieces feels a bit off in terms of value. The dumplings, made with onion and ground pork, were quite fluffy and delicious. I enjoyed my meal today as well.

At 11:30, I had lunch at MIDORI in Yaechu Dining, Nihonbashi. I scanned the QR code to order the Lu Rou Fan set for 1200 yen. The Lu Rou Fan was served in about 5 minutes, and then the shumai arrived about 3 minutes later. Both the Lu Rou Fan and the shumai were delicious, and the set came with 2 shumai. Afterward, I received the almond tofu, and I finished everything happily. It was very tasty—thank you for the meal!

I visited for lunch. I ordered a fried rice set, while my companion chose a chilled chicken salt noodle set. The fried rice here has a solid seasoning with a nice balance, making it very tasty. I had a little bit of my companion's chicken salt noodles, and the flavor of sesame oil really stood out—it was delicious. The shumai was also tasty on its own, so I might try the shumai set next time.

Today, I had lunch at Nihonbashi for the first time in a while. I left home early, but there were still few places where you could get in easily. However, at this spot, there were only two people ahead of me. I waited about five minutes before being seated. They use the trendy QR code for ordering. I ordered the daily cold salt chicken ramen and siu mai set for 1200 yen. It came with a little bit of almond tofu as a bonus. The portion size was on the smaller side. If the cost-performance were a bit better, that would be great. Thank you for the meal!

It was Monday and sunny. Tokyo Station was crowded due to the Obon holiday, but the area around it was an office district, so the restaurants seemed relatively empty. When I went out for lunch, there was an eight-person wait. I sat on a chair across from the restaurant and waited. After about ten minutes, I was seated. The atmosphere was casual, and during lunchtime, you share tables with others. I ordered the "Chilled Dan Dan Noodles and Shumai Set" because I wanted something light and noticed that shumai seemed to be their specialty. You order by scanning a QR code on the table with your smartphone, which is becoming quite common, but I always feel uneasy about whether my order went through properly. The portion size was generous. Since this isn't a Sichuan restaurant, the Dan Dan noodles weren't very spicy, but the sesame flavor was quite pronounced. The shumai was large, and it would be difficult for a woman to finish it in one bite. They were piping hot, meaty, and delicious. The meal also came with almond jelly. With good taste and substantial portions, it's no wonder this place is popular. Looking around at the other diners, I noticed that dishes like Lu Rou Fan and liver and garlic chive rice were piled high in bowls, and the older gentlemen were enjoying their meals. It made me think that the rice dishes looked great too.

I had a Lu Rou Fan set for 1200 yen around 1:40 PM, so it was definitely not crowded. I went with the Lu Rou Fan that I had tried before. It seems like there's more meat than usual in it. It's slightly spicy, and it's definitely delicious. The almond tofu was a bit watery, though. But I still really want to have dumplings.

The Chinese restaurant that opened after the one in Nihonbashi is well-known for its shumai. Many people tend to order it as an addition to their main dish. The taste is quite normal and lacks any distinctive features, but the location and spaciousness seem convenient for use. Thank you for the meal.

There used to be a chain restaurant of Taihinglou. The set menu changed from gyoza to shu mai, but the food remains plentiful and delicious as ever! I ordered the liver and chives set with shu mai on the side. It usually gets crowded around 12 PM, so I recommend going around 11:30 AM or just after the lunch peak.

There are other delicious menu items as well, but I was swayed by the free rice refills. In conclusion, that was definitely the right choice. Enjoying a large shumai as I devoured a lot of rice was truly the best. It was juicy and satisfying, so I could eat it without getting bored.

I visited this place that I had been curious about with a friend for Saturday lunch. We were seated right away. I had the dumpling set with Daro noodles. The Daro noodles are a light, saucy noodle dish. They were hot and delicious. The restaurant is located on a busy passageway, so it doesn’t have a relaxed atmosphere, but the service is quick, which could be good for a lunch break during work. Thank you for the meal!

I visited Chinese Kitchen MIDORI, located at the former site of Little Taiho, which was selected as one of the top hundred gyoza restaurants on Tabelog. Although I was tempted by the Pork Rice and Shumai Set for 1200 yen, the offer of free rice refills convinced me to order the 6-piece Shumai set for the same price. The freshly steamed shumai were stacked two tiers high in the steamer. Each shumai was about the size of a baby's fist, and dipping them in mustard soy sauce and putting them on rice made the juices burst in my mouth. After opening the second tier of the steamer, I requested my free rice refill and enjoyed it with a dipping sauce that had chili oil, although I felt that mustard soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce paired better with the shumai. I enjoyed the shumai while having the egg droplet soup as a palate cleanser, and finished my meal with a delicious dessert of almond tofu. It was a delightful experience! d(´ڡ`๑)
