On February 3, 2021 (Wednesday), during a business trip to Shibetsu Town, we went to a second restaurant for dinner. It was past 6:30 PM, and we could hear loud laughter from outside the restaurant. "Don't come in! Haha." Despite feeling a bit nervous, I mustered up the courage to enter with my subordinate. The counter seats were empty, and the lively atmosphere was coming from the raised seating area, which was a bit reassuring. However, the restaurant owner's demeanor was a bit salty... but once we were in, there was no turning back. We resigned ourselves and sat at the counter. A waitress appeared and asked for our drink orders, but her attitude was also a bit salty. I ordered a Black Nikka highball, and my subordinate ordered an Asahi Super Dry. We toasted and after a while, we were served a complimentary dish of stir-fried bean sprouts and canned tuna. At that moment, we placed our food order: two servings of "Explosive Natto," two servings of grilled saury (since they were out of shiitake), and my subordinate also ordered a "Motsu Nabe." The "Explosive Natto" arrived, containing tuna, salmon, octopus, as well as whitebait, green onions, egg yolk, and natto. It also came with seaweed. We were puzzled about how to eat it, but the waitress kindly showed us how. The restaurant owner, though taciturn, didn't seem like a bad person. The "Explosive Natto" was delicious. The grilled saury was juicy and flavorful, especially when a little soy sauce was added. My subordinate's motsu nabe had a rich broth and was also delicious. We thought about ordering ramen for dessert, but we noticed that there were about five more customers coming in, and the restaurant owner and waitress were busy. It was surprising to see it so crowded on a Wednesday. It seems like a hidden gem of a popular restaurant. We quietly paid the bill and left. It's a bit of an eccentric place, but I believe the food is tasty.
