Today's lunch♪♪ After a meeting, I ended up going for lunch with two guys — one is a bit older and knowledgeable about gourmet food, and the other is sporty (^_^)! The restaurant was chosen based on my afternoon meeting schedule, and both of them helped to find a place...♪♪ Surprisingly, they both came up with the same suggestion from their searches on Tabelog and Google Maps!!! o(^_^)o So, we ended up at a Sichuan restaurant♪♪ Actually, I’m not great with spicy food...m(._.)m But since the two of them were excited about it, I decided to join in (^_^*) It seems like they had been eyeing this restaurant for a while! As we headed to the place, we arrived at just the right time. I felt a little behind, but we were able to get inside right away—what luck! (^ -^)v Inside, it was bustling with office workers and businesspeople from Nihonbashi. It’s definitely a popular spot! I wondered what I should eat today. The restaurant seems to specialize in their mapo tofu set meal... plus, they have a half & half option with two levels of spiciness! The sporty guy ordered the standard "mapo tofu set," while the older gentleman chose "Chongqing spicy noodle soup," which allows for seven levels of spice. They both went for "medium spicy," which is the third level down!! What should I get?? I decided on "dry-style Dan Dan noodles (tax included 980 yen) with sweet and spicy sauce + free rice" (^_^)!! Since I'm sensitive to spice, I opted for the lowest level! After about 5 minutes of waiting, my dry-style Dan Dan noodles arrived♪ It looked delicious with cilantro on top (*^^*)♪ Plus, the soup was an egg drop style—so appealing♪♪ When I took a bite, the noodles were chewy and tasty~~!! And the spice level was just right for me, nice and mild, which I loved o(^_^)o♪ Halfway through, I added some rice into the remaining sauce—mixing it together was the best thing ever! (^_^)v I finished it all so quickly! The sporty guy, even though he chose medium spicy, was sweating comfortably(^^)a. This is a place I’d definitely like to revisit! If you get the chance this summer, I highly recommend trying it! (^_^)v Today was a day for supporting my favorite restaurant!

I visited on Friday at 1:30 PM, just as the lunch rush was ending. I upgraded my Sichuan Mapo Tofu set meal to fried rice. They asked if I wanted cilantro on top, and I was pleased to see they added a generous amount, just like in the photo. The dish was delicious with a rich and spicy flavor. I opted for medium spiciness, but the Sichuan pepper really packed a punch, making it a notch spicier than I expected. There were Sichuan pepper and two types of chili sauces on the table, allowing for even more flavor adjustments if desired. The egg fried rice, pickled mustard greens, and egg soup all had excellent flavors, which I really appreciated. There was an introduction to bowl noodles at the entrance, which piqued my interest. The counter seating was ample, making it an easy place to dine alone even in the evening. Thank you for the meal!

The food is delicious and spicy, and there are many types of drinks, making it fun if you go for all-you-can-drink. However, the staff doesn't seem to understand customer service for Japanese clients. I recommend the bai jiu soda highball; I lost count of how many I had! Thank you for the meal. I forgot to take pictures halfway through (laughs).

Enjoying a bottle of beer while having snacks like mapo tofu and grilled dumplings. Even after ordering three drinks, the total was just 2500 yen. The restaurant, which is usually crowded during the day, had plenty of open seats when I arrived at 6:30 PM, which was a relief. It's the perfect spot to enjoy delicious Chinese food while having a drink or two.

As someone who has been stationed in China, I often find Japanese-style Chinese food lacking. It often feels overly adapted to Japanese tastes and ends up being a bit mediocre. Here, when I look at the menu, I see items that are present in authentic Chinese restaurants, like豌杂面 (wanzamian)! The flavors are balanced just right, appealing to Japanese palates while retaining the essence of the local cuisine. It was delicious, and I will definitely visit again!

I ordered the cold noodles with a medium spiciness. It's great that you can choose between hot and cold any time. This was my first visit, and the medium spiciness was just right and delicious. The heat and numbing sensation were sufficient, but halfway through, I craved a bit of acidity, so I asked for some vinegar. I noticed the person at the next table mumbling about how spicy it was while eating. Next time, I’d like to try the mapo tofu with extra spiciness. The logo is cute!

There’s a Sichuan restaurant called "Mala Sensei" near my company. I wanted to see if there were different menu items, so I visited a different branch. I ordered the braised beef brisket spicy noodle soup (medium spiciness). Even at medium spiciness, it packs a decent numbing kick. The flavor goes beyond just being spicy; it has plenty of deliciousness as well. It tends to be quiet on weekend nights, perhaps due to its location, but it’s a satisfying place to eat, so I recommend it.

It seems to be a newly opened chain store that I was curious about, so I stopped by for lunch. You can choose the level of spiciness, so I decided to start with a mild option. As expected from a Sichuan-style restaurant, it was quite spicy, and I ended up sweating a lot, haha. The lunch hour seems busy with office workers, but if you visit a bit later, you can get in smoothly. Thank you for the meal!

Mabo tofu set meal (spicy level: extra spicy) for 980 yen. Rice and soup are refillable. You can change white rice to fried rice for an additional 120 yen. I arrived at 1 PM and the counter was nearly full, with only one seat available. The extra spicy level was just right for me, but I would prefer a bit more Sichuan peppercorn flavor. The portion of mabo tofu was generous, and I asked for a refill of rice. However, they ran out of white rice, so I was given fried rice instead (for free).

I had the sauce-less tantanmen with cilantro and a small rice on the side, and I chose the "HELL" level of spiciness. It was 980 yen. The spice level was just right! I could really feel the heat as I kept eating. I found it spicier than the mapo tofu and the spicy chicken. In the second half of the meal, I added the small rice, but I ended up feeling it was a bit too much and couldn't finish it... I'm sorry about that. Next time, I think I will order less rice. I highly recommend this dish for its spice, price, and portion size. I already want to eat it again! Thank you for the meal!

I used the restaurant for lunch. It was my first time, and I ordered the spicy warm noodle dish with drooling chicken (mildly spicy). It had a lot of my favorite cilantro, which paired perfectly with the soup and noodles! The spiciness can be chosen in several levels, but from what I heard around me, anything above medium spicy tends to be quite hot. It’s delicious!

I made a reservation for a 4,500 yen two-hour all-you-can-drink course starting at 7:30 PM on a weekday. The restaurant was very lively, and by the time I entered, it was already fully booked. As the name suggests, all the dishes had a spicy mala flavor, and they were very spicy. However, even for someone like me who isn’t great with spicy food, it was perfectly balanced and delicious, making it easy to enjoy my drinks. The stone-grilled ma po tofu really left my tongue tingling, haha. Next time, I’d love to try dishes that aren’t mala as well!

I had a tasting set of two types of "yodare dori" (chicken with a spicy sauce) and a set of two types of mapo tofu. Since I visited with another person, it was great to be able to try a variety of dishes in smaller portions. Each one was delicious. The yodare dori with green Sichuan pepper was refreshing and delightful.

I entered the restaurant shortly after 11:00 AM on November 4, 2024. I was originally aiming for another place, but I found out, based on Tabelog information, that they opened at 11:30 AM. So I quickly decided to come here instead. The mapo tofu looked delicious, but I opted for the spicy dandan noodles. The medium spicy level had just the right amount of numbing and heat, and it was really tasty. In addition to the small rice, the meal also included soup, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly, all for under 1000 yen, which felt like a great deal. Thank you for the meal!

On the way back from shopping at Mitsukoshi, around 11:30 on a weekday, the restaurant was about 70% full, but soon it became completely packed. There were so many delicious-looking options that I had a hard time deciding, but I went for the spicy braised beef brisket noodle soup at a high spice level. My companion ordered the dry mapo tofu noodles at a very spicy level. Despite the crowd, the food was served surprisingly quickly. The spicy soup, tender beef brisket, and chewy noodles were all delicious. The high spice level was just right, similar to the spicy texture of the restaurant's signature dish. By the time we left, a line had formed outside.

You can enjoy authentic Sichuan cuisine at a reasonable price. The mapo tofu has various spice level options, and even for someone like me who is not great with spice, the medium spiciness provided a nice balance of heat and rich flavor. Since there are many spicy dishes, I also ordered a stir-fry with wood ear mushrooms and eggs, as well as shrimp and egg, and both were seasoned with a genuinely authentic Chinese flavor.

This time I tried the hellishly spicy yodaredori. It was healthy with plenty of bean sprouts! It was topped with nuts, adding a nice roasted flavor that I really liked. Although it was spicy, it was cold, which made the spiciness less intense and easier to eat. It was a delicious meal!
