Let me introduce you to the Japanese restaurant "Tenmabashi Fujikawa" in Temmabashi, Osaka. This restaurant has been awarded one Michelin star for four consecutive years since 2018. It seems like they earned the star within a year of opening in 2017, which is quite impressive.
As of the time of this post, the ratings on gourmet websites are as follows:
Tabelog: 3.59
Ikyu.com: 4.88
The rating on Ikyu.com is particularly high. However, restaurants with Michelin stars like this one often do not allow children, making it difficult for families with kids to visit. But in the case of this restaurant, they have private rooms where children are allowed, so we reserved a private room.
There is only one private room available, and the rest of the seating is at the counter. If there are six people, you can reserve the counter seats, which allows families with children to dine together. There are no facilities specifically for children, such as child-sized chairs or dishes, and there is no diaper changing station in the restroom. They also do not have a kids' menu.
Despite the lack of child-specific facilities, the owner and staff are very friendly towards children. They interacted with our kids in a friendly manner, making them feel comfortable. Initially, our kids were shy, but they gradually opened up and ended up having a great time.
Although there was no kids' menu, they arranged the adult menu to suit our children's preferences. The children's menu included:
Rice
Soup
Chawanmushi
Grilled swordfish
Tempura (shrimp, swordfish with shiso leaf)
Dessert (yogurt and strawberry ice cream with kumquat)
We requested portions for two children (5 and 3 years old) at the cost of one adult. Our kids enjoyed the meal and ate a lot, despite not being big eaters usually.
Next, the adult menu included:
Chawanmushi (conger eel and shirako)
Appetizer (sawara, sea cucumber, and kodawari?)
Soup (white miso-based with shiitake, daikon, carrot, and tofu)
Sashimi (flatfish)
Tempura (swordfish with shiso leaf, green onion, sweetfish, white fish, taro)
Simmered dish (sesame dumplings)
Rice dish (jacogohan, miso soup)
Dessert (yogurt and strawberry ice cream with kumquat)
Everything was delicious, but the tempura was outstanding, as expected. The quality of the ingredients was apparent, and dishes like the swordfish with shiso leaf and taro were particularly tasty.
The price for one adult was 6,600 yen (including tax), with no service charge or private room fee. While it may be considered expensive compared to regular lunches, it is relatively reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber.
In conclusion, both adults and children were satisfied with the dining experience at this restaurant. Despite the lack of child-specific facilities or menu, the friendly and accommodating staff made it a memorable experience for the kids. The delicious food also left us adults very satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Be sure to visit and enjoy a meal there.
