Today, my wife was working and I had the day off, so I decided to go out with my daughter to visit a ramen restaurant in Iwamizawa City that I had been curious about. When we arrived, there were no other customers, so we took a seat at the counter and looked at the menu. I noticed they had a mega-sized menu, and to my surprise, I saw the actual dish right in front of me. I thought, "Can I really finish this mega-sized dish?" and decided to go for it. It was a mega-sized fried rice with fried chicken on top, priced at 850 yen. The owner explained that it was a takeout order that had just been prepared. I watched as the owner cooked the dish, reheating the fried chicken and fried rice that were pre-made. The fried chicken was crispy and not greasy, but the batter was thick and the seasoning was mild. The fried rice was a bit bland and seemed to have been kept warm in a jar. It was topped with fried chicken, croquette, and scrambled eggs, served with soup and a complimentary soft drink. The meal was affordable, but the taste was not very satisfying for me. I managed to finish the toppings but left about a third of the fried rice uneaten. Overall, the experience was a bit disappointing, and despite the low price, the satisfaction level was not high. I noticed a few new customers during my meal, and one of them ordered the same dish as me along with some side dishes to take home. It seemed like they were a regular customer. I left feeling full but not completely satisfied, and I didn't consider eating at another restaurant afterwards. The restaurant also runs a children's cafeteria, so I wish them the best of luck. [Completely Non-Smoking] A cafeteria opened in June 2023 in the residential area of Sakaemachi, located northeast of Iwamizawa Station. They also hold a children's cafeteria every Saturday. The restaurant is located near the 4th street, around 820m from the intersection with Route 12, towards Mikasa, diagonally across from the Family Mart at the intersection. I visited the restaurant on August 13, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Despite being open for some time now, there were still no reviews online, and the regular closing day was unclear. I cycled there from Kami-Horoike Station in Iwamizawa in heavy rain. It took me 57 minutes to cover the 28.54km distance, with an average speed of 29.6km/h and a top speed of 55.9km/h. The restaurant was open when I arrived, which was a relief. I ordered the shrimp tempura bowl for 600 yen, which came with a free drink. The tempura batter was a bit heavy, and the shrimp was slightly tough. I wished they had fried it at a higher temperature for a shorter time. The rice was cooked decently, and the tempura sauce was not bad. Considering the price of 600 yen, the portion size was good. However, for someone like me, the portion was a bit small, so I might stop by somewhere else on the way back. Another customer had ordered a mega-sized dish, which looked impressive. I might try that next time. The only downside was that the soup was lukewarm.
