A rare few hours off for the couple, they decided to go on a drive to the neighboring town of Biei, which is about a 30-minute drive from Asahikawa. They managed to find a parking spot at a crowded parking lot near the station and then wandered around the town. They stumbled upon a restaurant with a sign advertising dishes like curry and decided to give it a try. The restaurant had counter seats, table seats, and a raised tatami area which they were led to. The menu recommended their hamburg steak, so the wife ordered a hamburger curry while the husband ordered a pork cutlet curry. Soft drinks were included, so they both chose iced coffee. The owner, an elderly man, was managing the place alone and seemed to be working efficiently despite the crowd. The interior of the restaurant was old, with record jackets covering the walls. The food arrived in about 15 minutes, and though the curry looked ordinary, it was served with potato fries and salad which made it visually appealing. The pork cutlet was thick, with a fine and homey breading, and the curry had a slight spiciness that was just right. The husband enjoyed the meal, especially the pork cutlet, and found the curry to be of his liking. The ice coffee was also satisfying. Overall, they felt the meal was delicious and reasonably priced at 850 yen.

Traveling to Furano and Biei with my spouse. Since our accommodation was near Biei Station, I thought we would be able to find a place to eat easily. However, it was quite difficult to find a dinner spot in Biei. Especially since we were staying on a Monday, some restaurants were closed, leaving us with limited options. In the end, we chose this restaurant that happened to have an empty table as we passed by. As soon as we entered, I had a slightly bad feeling. The master of the restaurant had a unique personality, and the interior had a strong Showa-era nostalgic feel. The floor was sticky, and the tables were also dirty, with menus that were sticky as well. Even the water pitcher was old and dirty. The master had a very frank way of serving customers, which wasn't necessarily bad. I ordered the hamburger curry, and my wife ordered the Biei gratin. We were happy to receive complimentary soft drinks. I could see that the master was handling everything - serving, cashier, cleaning, and cooking all by himself, which seemed quite challenging. Our food arrived around 15 minutes after ordering, which was quicker than expected. The curry had a bitter taste, perhaps they added coffee as a secret ingredient!? The hamburger was thick and a bit tough, lacking juiciness. The Fukujinzuke (pickles) was served in a separate dish, and there was plenty of it. The salad wasn't particularly fresh. It was strange for a place in Biei. My wife's gratin lacked saltiness, as if they had forgotten to add seasoning. It was quite a peculiar restaurant experience... Even though there are good lunch spots in Biei, I wish there were more delicious dinner options. Well, we were grateful to have a meal today. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I visited Biei. I actually wanted to go to Daimaru, but they said they weren't open for dinner today, so I came here for the first time. I ordered the Japanese-style hamburger, which looked very luxurious. It had plenty of mushrooms and the hamburger had a slightly different flavor, but it was delicious.

There was dust everywhere and it bothered me... I ordered a hamburger, but it was tightly packed. Is it worth the price?

It's been a while since I visited Masu, a restaurant. Last time, I felt out of place with my hamburger curry amidst the lively drinking atmosphere. But this time, I was lucky as there were no other customers. I got to enjoy watching old music videos from the 80s that the owner played. The walls were adorned with album covers of artists like Kubota Sakaki, KAI Band, Shono Mayo, and more. The menu mainly consisted of variations of hamburgers, omelettes, and curry, perfect for those seeking a satisfying meal. I ordered the cheeseburger set while my companion chose the Japanese-style hamburger set. The hamburgers were thick and meaty, with a rich flavor of mixed ground meat. They were cooked in the oven, resulting in a crispy cheese topping. Despite not being juicy, the hamburgers were delicious and satisfying. It was a fulfilling dining experience at Masu.

I stopped by on my way from Asahikawa to Furano. It was lunchtime on a weekday, and the owner seemed busy handling everything alone. I ordered the hamburger curry, which came with salad and coffee. The curry had a unique tomato flavor that I had never tasted before. The hamburger was juicy and flavorful, with meat juice oozing out as soon as I cut into it. The interior of the restaurant had a display window with fish and alcohol, making me think it might transform into a different type of restaurant at night. The TV was playing old Japanese songs, creating a unique atmosphere.

I went for lunch at this unique restaurant. The interior is quite interesting, with old-timey music videos playing continuously. I ordered the hamburger curry, which came with a drink for lunch. I chose iced coffee. After a short wait, my meal arrived. The hamburger was thick and juicy! Excitedly, I took my first bite and the juices flowed out. It wasn't like those gourmet shows where they press down on the hamburger to extract the juices, but rather the juices naturally flowed out. The hamburger was delicious. The curry had a unique tanginess to it, which didn't quite suit my taste buds, so I ended up just eating the hamburger and left. The hamburger was really tasty.

I was feeling hungry and wanted to eat at a different restaurant, but unfortunately it was full, or more accurately, the parking lot was full. In this area, there are many tourists during the day and families in the evening. On this day, the counter was available, so I decided to eat there. The restaurant mainly serves as an izakaya at night, but they also have regular meal menus. The person next to me ordered pork cutlet curry with beer. I was in the mood for curry as well, but the number one menu item was "Hamburger Curry," so I decided to order that. They also had sausage curry on the menu, which was probably because they serve sausages as an izakaya dish. At the table next to me, they were enjoying sausages with chopsticks. Of course, they also had the option to order just the hamburger. The hamburger curry took a little while to arrive, probably because it was a substantial size and thickness. The curry had a tangy flavor, which may have been a bit lacking on its own. However, the hamburger was quite hearty, with a lean and meaty texture. It wasn't a soft and juicy hamburger, but I personally enjoyed it. I prefer a bit more pepper, typical of izakaya-style dishes. Overall, it was a good meal, and I appreciate that the restaurant stays open late, as there are not many places to eat at late hours. I found it amusing that there was a sign at the entrance saying, "We do not serve curry udon here," which seemed to reflect the owner's frustration.

I had some errands to run in the neighboring town of Biei, and I had some time to spare for lunch in the afternoon. I happened to come across a restaurant that caught my eye, and since there was a sign at the entrance recommending their curry, I was in the mood for curry. I was torn between ordering the hamburger or the chicken curry, but looking back, I should have gone with the hamburger curry. I ended up ordering the chicken curry. To start, they served a salad and Fukujinzuke (pickles). The Fukujinzuke was served in generous portions. The meat in the curry was chicken wings, cooked until tender and easily falling off the bone. The curry was quite tasty, but personally, I prefer it to be a bit less salty. I've been finding the curries I've had recently, including the one at the soba shop the day before, to be on the salty side. Maybe my taste buds are changing. I'll have to make curry myself over the weekend to see.

The tour group at Tenninkyo Gorge eats well. Even though they had breakfast at the hot springs, they still get hungry by lunchtime. On the way back, they choose to go through Biei instead of Higashikawa, so they stop for a meal at Biei Station. They are warmly welcomed by "Ajimasu," a restaurant that can accommodate large groups. The sunken kotatsu seating is a nice touch. The menu offers a variety of options like hamburger sets, curry, and spaghetti, mostly priced under 1,000 yen. They also have sets featuring delicious sausages from "Hokuto," a sausage shop in Biei, but the group was worried about not being able to finish it all. One person ordered the hamburger lunch set (with salad, rice, miso soup, and coffee). The square plate came with rice, salad, hamburger, and cold tofu. The hamburger was bigger than expected, juicy, and had a nostalgic taste of old-fashioned Western-style restaurants. The sauce was a bit heavy but went well with the rice. The men ordered curry, which came in large portions. The curry was lightly spicy, and although it was tasty, it might be too hot for children. They also tried a bite of "Hokuto" sausage, which was as delicious as ever. The group was satisfied with the generous portions of curry. The restaurant is run by a couple and also serves izakaya dishes at night.

Once again, I went to Biei for work and had lunch at "Ajimasu" in Nakamachi 1-chome, Biei-cho, Kamikawa-gun. This was my second time here. I had a good impression of their curry last time, but this time I tried something different - the "Tonkatsu Set" for 750 yen. It comes with coffee after the meal. The meat was your typical tonkatsu for a set meal, but it was quite tasty. It wasn't too greasy, and had just the right amount of fat. It was quite filling. Considering the taste and portion size, the price felt very reasonable. I visited on February 18, 2010.

This is a restaurant located in the center of Biei. They offer dishes such as hamburgers, omurice, and curry. It turns into an izakaya at night, and the interior has a rural atmosphere with posters of beer-serving bikini girls. Despite the rural feel, the restaurant is relatively new and uses indirect lighting. Biei is known for its curry udon as a local specialty, but this restaurant is particular about their menu, offering only rice curry. However, you can enjoy curry with the famous sausages from the Ham Sausage Restaurant in Biei called Hohito Sausage. The curry has a simple yet strong aroma, and the combination with the delicious sausages makes for a satisfying meal. I didn't have high expectations for the curry, but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious. I also tried the lunch plate, which includes both the sausages and hamburgers. The hamburger is thick and has a great texture, with just the right amount of spices to enhance the flavor of the meat. Overall, this restaurant may seem like a regular diner, but they offer a variety of Western dishes like hamburgers, Hohito sausages, and Biei gratin, making it a hidden gem for tourists. I tried curry udon nearby last year, but personally, I prefer this restaurant's dishes.

- There is a normal restaurant next to a parking lot road.
- The customer service was not good.
- I had the hamburger, and when I cut it, the juices overflowed, and it was delicious. The portion size was decent, and personally, I felt it was the most delicious in Biei. However, when we stopped by during work, there was no one else there besides us, so we requested a table with a sunken kotatsu. But we were told grumpily to sit at the counter, which was a bit confusing. After finishing our meal, when the coffee was brought to us, a woman was waiting behind us the whole time, making us feel uneasy. We hurriedly drank the coffee and left the restaurant. Despite the delicious food, the attitude of the staff and the lack of calmness made me not want to visit again.

I have visited this delicious Western-style restaurant many times before, located about a 5-minute walk from Biei Station. The menu mainly consists of curry, but they also offer hamburgers, pasta, and more. I highly recommend the hamburger curry. The hamburger, which is about 3cm thick, oozes with juices when you cut into it. It is cooked just right and truly well-made. The curry is rich and flavorful, more like it has been simmered for days rather than freshly made. It's a bit spicy, so I recommend the hamburger plate for children. The service may be a bit unfriendly, but the deliciousness of the hamburger makes up for it. For around 700 yen, it's hard to find a hamburger this tasty. Also, it's not too crowded, so you can make it there even if you're in a hurry.

I went to lunch a while ago. The menu was extensive and I had a hard time deciding what to order. They served a plate with a main dish and salad all on one plate. A drink was also included. The flavors were to my liking and I really enjoyed the meal. The only downside was the lack of friendliness in the service. When paying, I received a discount coupon for my next visit. I haven't been there at night, but it seems they also serve alcohol. I definitely want to try going there at night next time.
