I recently discovered a newly opened restaurant while out for a walk. It opened on the 25th, so I decided to check it out right away! The restaurant is located on the second floor, just a little off the main street in Haruyoshi, right across from "Yakiniku New Yoko." I initially thought it was a regular barbecue place since it specializes in chicken teppanyaki, but it seems to be a homage to Fukuoka's soul food with a "chicken" twist.
Upon entering, I found a spacious interior with both table and counter seating. The menu is straightforward, offering only chicken teppanyaki! I ordered the Double Chicken Teppanyaki for two, priced at 1,780 yen, with several toppings: Cheese (100 yen), Kimchi (350 yen), Fried Chicken (300 yen for three pieces), and since I brought a flyer, I got a free rice and miso soup set. I requested a large serving of rice.
The table had spicy miso, yuzu pepper, and ponzu, which you could use to customize your meal. They provided a stick to tilt the hot plate for an authentic experience. Since it was newly opened, it took a little time for the order to arrive. I could smell a delicious "sizzling" aroma from the kitchen. I had kids with me, so I ordered a single portion of chicken teppanyaki for them as well.
Soon after, the teppanyaki arrived. The staff was courteous and attentive as they had just opened, and the dish was clearly made with care. The piping hot platter featured plenty of cabbage and what appeared to be chicken (likely thigh meat). With my cheese topping, I initially couldn't see the cheese, but upon lifting it, I discovered the gooey cheese melted perfectly.
I dug in while it was still hot. The fried chicken and kimchi also arrived at the same time. First, I tilted the hot plate to let the juices collect, adding the spicy miso gradually as I ate. I tried it plain first. The cabbage was perfectly cooked, crunchy, and sweet—delicious! The chicken, being thigh meat, was a bit tough for the kids, but surprisingly, my son, who usually avoids vegetables, loved the cabbage and ate it with rice.
With the cheese topping, I combined the spicy miso with cabbage, chicken, and rice for a heavenly bite! It was incredibly tasty! The sauce was mild and creamy, while the spicy miso added a nice kick. The cheese enriched the dish, making it even more addictive. I could easily finish four servings. Although I ordered a large bowl of rice, it felt slightly insufficient given how good the rice was, like in a nostalgic story where a truly large bowl is just right.
My partner mentioned that the vinegar was delicious, so I tried it, and it was refreshing! The clear, bright flavor enhanced the dish. The yuzu pepper paired perfectly with the chicken! Since the restaurant just opened, I hope they consider adding more options like extra meat, more vegetables, or a nostalgic rice upgrade on the menu.
Regardless, the flavor was solid, and I left extremely satisfied. It’s an addictive taste. They also seem to offer takeout, which would be great for enjoying at home. This sauce is incredibly delicious, so I definitely recommend it. Thank you for the meal! It’s a flavor I could enjoy every day without getting tired of it. It feels healthy with the chicken and vegetables. Highly recommended!
