It felt very much aimed at tourists and inbound visitors. The counter was mostly occupied by foreign customers, so I hope people don’t think that this is what a typical tempura restaurant in Kyoto is like. However, for those who want to take photos or videos, I think it's a fun place with entertaining performances. It was a bit embarrassing, but overall a fun experience. I was glad to finally visit for a change of pace and to have something to talk about. The portion sizes were just right, and the food was delicious.

Just a three-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Line, this tempura restaurant offers a special experience filled with smiles, featuring piping hot, freshly fried tempura paired with domestically sourced, freshly cooked rice from a kama pot. You can enjoy a variety of seasonal ingredients, including Wagyu beef and specialties from Kyoto. A highlight is the signature dish, "Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl," prepared right in front of you by the skilled chefs. ▼ Tempura Rice Bowl "Ten no Meshi" is priced at 3,080 yen and includes seafood tempura, shrimp tempura, anago (conger eel) tempura, seasonal vegetable tempura, black maitake tempura, and a shrimp tempura topped with ikura (salmon roe) and a special homemade sauce. The dish is finished off with fresh ikura added in front of you, allowing you to enjoy the hot tempura and freshly steamed white rice. The seafood tempura and shrimp tempura are crispy with a perfect, bouncy texture. The juiciness of the anago tempura and the rich flavors of the seasonal vegetable tempura shine through. The black maitake tempura adds a wonderful aroma, and the saltiness of the ikura brings everything together. The combination of the freshly fried tempura and the hot rice provided a truly indulgent experience. I was completely satisfied with this dish. Being able to enjoy it freshly made right in front of me, I truly relished the experience of "The Tempura Entertainment."

I was seated at the counter with a friend, and we chose the 4,400 yen course! Each dish was made with care and was incredibly delicious! The performance was wonderful, and there were many foreign customers, creating a bright and lively atmosphere in the restaurant. I will definitely come back again.

During my visit to the tourist city of Kyoto, I arrived at the restaurant earlier than my reservation time but I was welcomed warmly with a big smile, saying “We’re happy to have you.” The restaurant was just a short walk from the main street, making it easy to find. I was quickly shown to the second floor, where there was a beautiful open kitchen. Each table was equipped with Wi-Fi and phone charging outlets, which was very helpful for my sightseeing needs. I opted for the “Omakase Tasting” course. The staff were very skillful, attentive, and cheerful, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The way they presented the dishes was like an entertaining performance, and I enjoyed it without sacrificing flavor. One of the highlights was the salmon topped with salmon roe, which came with the enthusiastic cheer “Yoi sho~ Yoi sho~” as they plated it for each table. The final dish, a rice bowl topped with a beaten egg, was both fun and delicious. After a day of enjoying Kyoto, I felt a sense of satisfaction by the end of the meal. I initially worried about whether the portion sizes would be enough, but by taking my time with the meal, I was completely satisfied when I finished with the rice and yuba (tofu skin) miso soup. However, the staff seemed very busy, making it a bit difficult to ask for things like water refills, so it might be helpful to have another staff member dedicated to customer service in the dining area. Overall, I had a delightful and delicious experience, and as I left, the staff kindly escorted me out, making me feel like I truly got my money's worth and helping me enjoy my time in Kyoto even more.

The fact that each dish is served one by one adds a sense of luxury and makes for great photos! It was fun when they called out while adding toppings to the tempura! I enjoyed the unique options like salmon with roe and tempura with sukiyaki. The counter setup not only provided a lively atmosphere but also exuded elegance, making it an entertaining experience overall! Most of the customers were international tourists, and it was heartwarming to see the staff, who spoke English, happily chatting with them. There were many wonderful staff members, and it was a lovely restaurant. I definitely want to go back! 😊

I was invited to visit a restaurant, and since I don't eat a lot, I ordered the most casual course. In my mind, I thought I could just order more if I needed it, but it turned out to be enough for me, so I didn’t ask for any additional dishes. I didn’t check if extra servings were possible. The first dish was sweet potato, which seemed to be grilled slowly with far-infrared heat and then deep-fried as tempura. For the salmon, they topped it with ikura (salmon roe) right in front of me, accompanied by a cheerful "yoisho!" (meaning "here it goes!"), but it wasn’t limitless. Most of it fell through the net, but I managed to scoop it up and enjoy it. As for the sake, they didn't have it at a warm temperature; it was in a cup, and I wished they would heat it for me. The final highlight was when they poured an egg over the shrimp tempura right in front of me, accompanied by a special phrase. The restaurant was filled with foreign customers, so I guess their concept targets inbound tourism. However, the young waiter seemed to be treating an older, difficult customer from Kyoto with a bit of annoyance; a little more friendly service would be appreciated.

#Tempura #Kyoto【Exquisite Entertainment-style Tempura Course】I enjoyed a course meal at a newly opened entertainment-style tempura restaurant in Kyoto. There are a total of four different courses, and this time we ordered two different courses for two people. I was impressed by the excellent service, as they responded positively to various requests. The tempura was exquisite, and there were many items with encouraging comments, creating a lively atmosphere that seemed to delight the foreign customers. ☺️

I made a reservation for 6 PM and arrived, but it took quite a while until someone acknowledged me. I ordered the special course and a draft beer. Honestly, I found everything about the restaurant disappointing. While I understand the intention to create an entertainment-focused and internationally appealing atmosphere, the food delivery was slow, and because of the focus on entertainment, we had to wait a long time after the food was fried. Even though there were many staff members, there was only one person frying food on each floor, which made the wait feel even longer. The staff members looked idle while waiting. Additionally, there was no background music, giving the atmosphere an odd, somber feeling similar to a wake, with everyone in the restaurant absorbed in their phones. The ventilation in the restaurant was poor, causing the smell of oil to fill the space, which made me feel nauseous over time. The salmon roe seemed off, being small and bitter. The tempura beef had too much chewiness. However, the tempura maitake mushrooms and wagyu sukiyaki tempura were juicy and delicious. The shrimp tempura was overcooked and tough, to the point of being unacceptable. They should take notes from other chain tempura or fried shrimp restaurants on how to do it properly. Since the food takes a long time to come out, I would recommend this place for those who want to enjoy a leisurely meal or for foreign tourists looking for a tempura theme park experience!

This restaurant caters to inbound customers, and the quality of the food is high; everything is delicious. The tempura is skillfully fried, preserving the taste of the ingredients, and it was very tasty. There’s no background music in the restaurant, so the sounds of the kitchen can be heard, which is a slight downside. However, being aimed at inbound customers, the lively atmosphere adds to the experience, allowing for an enjoyable meal. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

【Amamesshi Gion Main Store】Opened on August 12, with the theme of "Elevating Tempura Entertainment," this restaurant offers an impressive dining experience where chefs entertain you as they prepare your meal right in front of you❤️‍ The course menu is popular, but this time I tried the newly introduced tempura rice bowl! ◎ Tempura Rice Bowl - Seafood Version ¥3,850 Features seafood tempura, two shrimp tempuras, anago (conger eel), kisu (Japanese whiting), scallop tempura, and topped with salmon roe. ◎ Tempura Rice Bowl - Amamesshi Version ¥3,080 Includes seafood tempura, shrimp tempura, anago, kisu, chicken tempura, and black maitake mushroom tempura. They prioritize high-quality rice, meticulously cooked in a "hagama" (traditional Japanese rice pot), paired with crispy, freshly fried tempura stacked high. Finally, they finish it off with a dashi egg, and that's the completion✨✨ First of all, the tempura is incredibly crispy and light, and it's delightful to see the large portions of ingredients! The hakama rice is fluffy, and when you eat it together, the combination is just delicious. The seafood tempura bowl is beautifully luxurious, overflowing with salmon roe〜〜 The atmosphere is chic and stylish, and it’s exciting to see the dishes come together with playful shouts from the chefs. Tempura x Entertainment—a refreshingly new experience. #KyotoGourmet #KyotoLunch #GionShijo #GionGourmet #KawaramachiGourmet #kyoto

Not only was the taste outstanding, but the performance of the staff and their ability to communicate in multiple languages made me feel the essence of Kyoto. There are two courses, one with 10 dishes and the other with 7 dishes, and I wisely chose the 7-dish course. The cost-performance ratio is excellent. Thank you very much!

I was intrigued by Tsukikatsu Tanaka's new concept, an entertainment-style "tempura" aimed at inbound tourists, so I decided to visit. At the long counter, tourists were about 70% of the crowd. I opted for the affordable tasting course. The lively shouts and performances right in front of the customers added to the experience, complete with striking poses. The tempura was freshly fried, so it was quite delicious. I wondered if the tempura version of sukiyaki was a bit excessive, but overall, it's not a bad choice for a lunch outing with guests. Thank you for the meal!

"A moment of exhilaration, The Tempura-tainment" is the catchphrase of a new tempura restaurant opening in Gion, offering freshly fried tempura and fluffy rice cooked in a traditional rice cooker! The establishment is managed by a company that also operates the nationwide chain "Kushi Katsu Tanaka." On the opening day, the founder of Kushi Katsu Tanaka came to show support. The menu features only an "Omakase Course" (4,400 yen), which offers fantastic value! Here’s the course content: ■ Seafood Tempura: A generous portion of squid gives it a delightful texture. ■ Salmon Tempura with Ikura: Enjoy the performance of having fresh ikura added right before your eyes. ■ Chicken Tempura: Offers a satisfying, robust texture. ■ Shrimp Tempura Sushi: Freshly fried shrimp served with steaming white rice, handed to you directly. ■ Eggplant Tempura with Red Miso: Two types of red miso paired with Kamo eggplant. ■ Manji Chili Tempura: Thick and impressive. ■ Wagyu Beef Tempura: Rare wagyu beef serves as a unique dish enhanced with wasabi. ■ Wagyu Sukiyaki: Tempura made with wagyu beef in a classic Japanese dish, seasoned with special sauce and paired with egg. ■ Signature Sweet Potato: Domestic sweet potatoes finished using an original method, incredibly sweet. ■ Shrimp Tempura Donburi: The final dish is a custom homemade tempura donburi, served right before you. The yuba miso soup is refillable. This level of cost-effectiveness in Gion is remarkable! The restaurant operates continuously, making it very convenient for visitors.

I visited "Ten no Meshi Gion Honten" in Kyoto. It's a 3-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, located a bit off the main street. They only offer a seasonal tasting course for tempura, and the price is an astonishing 4,400 yen. This is an incredible value for a lunch in Gion. The course includes 10 dishes, which was quite surprising. The explanations for each dish were thorough, and the performance added to the dining experience with delightful presentations. We started with a seafood tempura, followed by seasonal vegetable tempuras, and even a rare wagyu sukiyaki tempura. Each dish was a delightful surprise, but the signature sweet potato tempura was exceptionally well-prepared and absolutely delicious. It's a unique dish that you can only taste here. The rice was cooked in a traditional "hagama" pot, and the seaweed was crispy and tasty. I had a great time in Gion and made wonderful memories. I will definitely come back. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal! Omakase Course: 4,400 yen 1. Seafood tempura 2. Salmon tempura with ikura 3. Chicken tempura 4. Shrimp tempura sushi 5. Eggplant tempura 6. Manganji pepper tempura 7. Wagyu lean beef 8. Wagyu sukiyaki 9. Signature sweet potato tempura 10. Shrimp tempura rice bowl Additional dessert: Matcha affogato 495 yen The Premium Malts Aroma Ale 715 yen Sake 1,100 yen

A fascinating new restaurant has opened in Kyoto. Its appearance has a strong impact, and during its opening, it was filled with sunflowers, making it stand out. It seems to be a restaurant that offers a tempura course. Kyoto is overflowing with inbound tourists, and sushi and tempura are synonymous with Japanese culinary experiences. While sushi is readily available, casual tempura dining is surprisingly rare. This restaurant, however, offers more than just ordinary tempura. It has excellent entertainment value, making it enjoyable to see as well as eat. The menu features items that highlight the best of Japan, including wagyu, sukiyaki, and salmon roe. The sweet potato tempura that comes toward the end is incredibly delicious, as it's made from roasted sweet potato transformed into tempura, showcasing clever creativity. The rice is also tasty, leaving you feeling full. The cost-performance ratio is quite high. Since it's newly opened, things are a bit hectic, but they will likely settle down with experience! Thank you for the meal. I've heard the menu will change with the seasons, so I'm looking forward to my next visit. Menu: 1. Seafood tempura 2. Salmon tempura with salmon roe 3. Chicken tempura 4. Shrimp tempura sushi 5. Eggplant tempura with sweet miso 6. Manganji pepper tempura 7. Wagyu red meat 8. Wagyu sukiyaki 9. Signature sweet potato tempura 10. Shrimp tempura rice bowl

I heard you're planning a trip to Kyoto, and I have to recommend this incredible restaurant just 3 minutes on foot from Gion Shijo Exit 7! They offer an authentic tempura course meal for just ¥4400, which is an amazing deal! The batter is light and crispy, not thick with less filling. These freshly fried tempuras are so light that you could eat them endlessly. Here's what the course includes: 1. Seafood kakiage 2. Salmon tempura with ikura 3. Chicken tempura 4. Ebi tempura sushi 5. Eggplant tempura dengaku 6. Manganji pepper tempura 7. Beef (wagyu) 8. Wagyu sukiyaki 9. Signature sweet potato 10. Ebi tempura donburi The meal also comes with hakama rice, miso soup, and unlimited yuzu daikon pickles as a palate cleanser. It's unbelievably delicious, a great value, and an outstanding restaurant. Reservations fill up quickly, so don’t wait!
