I found a promising tempura restaurant on Instagram and I couldn't resist visiting! It's located a bit away from Susukino, near the south side of Nijo Market, at the address Minami 3, Higashi 2. I'm excited to explore this area which is unfamiliar to me! The restaurant has only counter seating and has a unique layout. The staff is all young women, which adds a nice charm to the place. There are plenty of tempura options, as well as a variety of side dishes, all of which were delicious. The appetizer, wakame seaweed, was particularly tasty and set high expectations for the meal. Of course, the highlight was the fresh tempura. Since we wanted to try various types, we ordered a mix, and they were kind enough to cut them in half for sharing. We both ordered two of each item we wanted to try. The shrimp tempura stood out as the most visually appealing and delicious. The drink service was a bit slow; we had to wait quite a while for our first beer. However, they offered a wide range of tea-based cocktails, and they were very good. The prices were quite reasonable for a tempura restaurant. Overall, it was a great dining experience. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. The atmosphere inside was stylishly designed, with all counter seating providing a sense of privacy. The menu focuses on tempura, but there's also an interesting selection of fresh fish and creative dishes. The tempura itself is also innovative. They have a carefully curated selection of sake that matches the ambiance of the restaurant. I would recommend it for those who appreciate attention to detail. I think it would be even better if they had a gentle approach to staff training. Thank you for the meal!

Recently, I visited a tempura restaurant in the bus center area. The interior is incredibly stylish, resembling a bar, which makes it feel more upscale than your typical tempura shop. It's featured in the "Casual Drinking Guide," allowing you to enjoy tempura in a relaxed atmosphere while having a drink. However, I noticed that the drinks took a bit longer to arrive, which might have been due to the busy time. The staff seemed a bit uncoordinated, which made me feel a little uneasy. Additionally, since the seating is primarily at the counter, it might feel a bit cramped for groups of two or more. The tempura itself is casually enjoyable and crisp, but I would have preferred the batter to be a bit thicker. I was also disappointed by a slightly loud regular customer, but watching the staff prepare the tea cocktails right in front of me was entertaining, and the taste was excellent. Overall, the atmosphere is great, making it a nice place to drop by, but there seems to be room for improvement in service and the speed of drink delivery.

About a week ago, I made a reservation online, and tonight I came with a friend at 7:30 PM! The location is a bit inconvenient, but the food is top-notch, so I definitely recommend making a reservation if you're curious (´∀`=) I will be coming back again Σ੧(❛□❛✿)

I visited this restaurant that I had been curious about for a while, as its exterior looked stylish. The course menu priced at 4,800 yen is very appealing. It started with appetizers and salad, and the tempura was crispy and delicious. I especially loved the final rice dish. Although I was a bit full, I was happy that they offered to turn it into an onigiri for me to take home! I definitely want to visit this place again.

The restaurant is located just a 10-minute walk from Odori Station in Sapporo, near the east side of Nijo Market, in the Creation East area. The exterior of the shop has a chic, hidden-gem vibe. Upon entering, we were guided to our reserved seats. Today’s meal is a course, so we will have the chef’s selection. First dish: "Appetizer" - At first glance, it looked like a vinegar dish, but it’s a Japanese-style dashi (soup stock) dish. This was surprisingly delicious right from the start. Second dish: "Salad" - A substantial salad filled with ham and various vegetables, topped with sesame dressing. Third dish: "Sashimi" - A selection of seven types of sashimi including tuna, sweet shrimp, mackerel, and bonito. While there is sashimi soy sauce available, salt is served as well, which enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients. Fourth dish: "Tempura" - Finally, the tempura arrives. It includes eggplant, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, squid, meat-wrapped cheese, lotus root with meat, natto with chikuwa (fish cake), and spicy cod roe. The shrimp, featured in the restaurant’s profile, was especially delicious with its crispy, fragrant coating. Fifth dish: "Clay Pot Rice" - Just as I was starting to feel full from the tempura, this dish came out. It is packed with beef. The way to enjoy it is to start eating it as is, then on the second serving add some seasoning, and finally, you can add the spicy cod roe tempura and some soup stock for a delightful finish. Sixth dish: "Dessert" - There were several options to choose from, and I went with the matcha. The recommended course meal costs 6,800 yen (including tax). While the tempura is a highlight, there are also many varieties of tea available. 😊

I understood that the wealth management department of a certain urban bank was busy, but I requested a meal together and made a phone reservation for around 7:30 PM on the same day! Despite calling just an hour and a half in advance, the quality was as shown in the image, and the owner/chef has genius-level talent. For those who have not yet been served here, I highly recommend this restaurant! I will definitely come back again!

I had a 4,800 yen course meal, and the sashimi was packed with so many condiments, making it very satisfying. I was also happy to have the marinated salmon. The angel prawn tempura was incredibly delicious, possibly the best I’ve ever had! I could have been perfectly happy with just that. The baked scallop rice in a clay pot was loaded with scallops, and it was great that I could take home any leftovers as rice balls. It was fun to watch the equipment used for tea cocktails as well.

I'm a big fan of the Yamano Ue Hotel, so I often visit places in the Yamano Ue Group. Occasionally, I go to other restaurants, but many of them are "once is enough" type of places. However, this one is different—it's delicious! The head chef has an impressive aura about him. However, when it comes to tea, there's some inconsistency depending on the staff. If they brew it well, it's great; but sometimes, there are days when even my homemade jasmine tea tastes better. On those days, I don't end up ordering much. It's understandable, as the tea staff aren't chefs. As for the mixed rice, at times it's not much different from what I make at home in my Staub pot, but honestly, with mixed rice, that's to be expected. This place is a tempura restaurant! Enjoy it mainly for the tempura. Oh, and the freshly fried mochi topped with sweet potato in the parfait is simply amazing!

Tonight around 8 PM, I enjoyed a reasonably-priced plan with a friend, featuring the 4,800 yen course that included delicious tempura, a sashimi platter, and baked scallops cooked in a rice pot! Although the location is not ideal, the restaurant is situated on a notable corner that makes it stand out. This place offers such high performance that you'll feel like you're missing out if you don’t visit! Everything from the appetizers, salad, sashimi, tempura, rice, to the drinks was satisfying! I've found another restaurant I want to keep coming back to! ♪( ´▽`)

A clean and pleasant space with 11 seats. There are today's recommended dishes as well as regular menu items. Today, I tried the crab cream tempura with American sauce and the fried oysters from today's special menu. I also enjoyed a sashimi platter featuring the restaurant's carefully selected hon-maguro (bluefin tuna), toro salmon, and konbu-jime (kelp-cured) hirame (flounder). In addition to the dipping sauce, salt and grilled nodoguro (black throat perch) were served on the side. The tea-based drink is the same as the one at the main store in Takadanobaba. It's a refreshing beverage that doesn't feel alcoholic, but it does contain a solid amount of alcohol, so it can make you tipsy. You can also request it as a non-alcoholic version for a 50 yen discount. The tempura features a thin batter that’s easy to eat. Among the regular menu items, I particularly like the tempura made from Nanko plum. The sweetness increases when made into tempura, and the warm flavor of the plum is addictive. I learned that the restaurant had a renewal opening in December 2023, with a new head chef and staff. The chef, who is a certified sake sommelier and recognized by Asahi Beer, has great potential and many skills still to showcase, so I'm excited for the future. There are always multiple types of sake available, and regular customers can request their preferences for sourcing. I, too, am a fan of bringing my own bottle. There are hidden wines available as well, so if you're a wine lover, it's worth asking the staff—something good is bound to come out!

At Baba Ten Sapporo, located at 2-9-1 Kinoshitamarumi Building 1F, Minami 3-jo, Higashi 2-chome, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, they offer a delightful combination of seven types of tempura and a clay pot rice dish made with scallops served in two portions. They even let you turn any leftovers into delicious ochazuke (rice with tea) for takeout! Recently, many tempura restaurants have been popping up in Sapporo. I'm excited to check out various stylish and reasonably priced tempura spots! #manamichelin #tempura #SouzengawaEast #SapporoGourmet

- Location: 1F Kinoshita Marumi Building, 2-9-1 Minami 3 Jo Higashi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Baba Ten Sapporo Branch I wanted to eat tempura♡ I made a reservation for the ¥6,800 middle course. It's a very stylish restaurant, almost like a café, and it's reasonably priced✨ The staff are young and cute too✨ Before the tempura, we had about four dishes: ◉ Spring Mekabu (seaweed) ◉ Cherry Salmon Nanbanzuke (pickled) ◉ Prosciutto Salad ◉ Sashimi Platter. That alone made me feel satisfied! I’ll have the tempura next time. #manamicheline #tempura #Soseigawa East #Sapporo Gourmet

I had been wanting to go to this restaurant but hadn't had the chance until now. Since it was my first visit, I tried the course meal. I was amazed by the atmosphere of the restaurant, the flavors and presentation of the dishes, and the idea of mixing tea with alcohol. Everything surprised me! When I was leaving, I had a brief chat with the owner, who shared that there were various challenges before opening, but it seems like this place is on its way to becoming a popular spot. Best of luck to you!

Today, as always, I went to try a new menu featuring rice cooked in a clay pot. The flavor is gentle, and it's easy to understand it as a type of mixed rice, perhaps similar to kayaku-gohan (seasoned rice with various ingredients). Any leftovers can be made into onigiri (rice balls), so that's not a problem. It also comes with condiments like wasabi and tea broth, allowing for a nice flavor change that makes it easy to eat too much. My go-to choice is chilled tofu, which is piled with katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes). The pickled daikon pairs well with beer. They also offer non-alcoholic beer, which is great too. It's a pity that I can't post a video of opening the clay pot lid; that's a moment worth capturing!

Visit date: April 4, 2024. I visited the popular restaurant "Baba Ten" located in a quiet residential area of Takadanobaba, Tokyo. There is also a branch in Sapporo, so I decided to check out "Baba Ten Sapporo". The tempura is fried right in front of you using 100% rice oil, making it crispy and light. They offer over 50 types of tea for tea cocktails—this is the first of its kind in Japan! Enjoying drinks made with their carefully selected tea is absolutely delightful. They also have a good selection of sake, making it a great spot for a casual date. The seating includes a stylish C-shaped counter, and you can enjoy food either à la carte or as a course, which is very convenient. The atmosphere of the place is quite inviting, and they take care to treat each dish with care, even changing the paper on the serving plates for each item. Tempura specialty restaurants are still relatively rare in Sapporo, so you should definitely try their exceptional tea cocktails and tempura. The ingredients are carefully selected and everything was delicious. They even offer seasonal ingredients monthly, which adds to the experience. Overall, the ambiance is lovely! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The otooshi (appetizer) is delicious, and of course the sashimi and tempura are amazing as well. I always end up ordering too much, but everything is great—from the sashimi and tempura to the sweet potato, an astonishing amount of red ginger, and the too-easy-to-drink tea-based cocktails. The chikuwa with natto, cold tofu, and pork and shiso cheese rolls are all delicious too.

Today, just like any other day, the unfiltered sharaku is delicious. This day is all about tempura. The signature dish is the "Angel Shrimp," which is lightly battered and perfectly crispy. I can’t get enough of the simple yet addictive chikuwa natto. I really love the flavors of spring, especially the bitterness, so I definitely have to go for the wild mountain vegetables. The nanohana (rapeseed blossoms) were surprisingly large, which made me laugh! I usually order in bulk and let the chef decide the order, but sometimes the portions are unexpectedly big, and I find myself taken aback!

On this day, I visited for the special Valentine's dessert. The matcha tiramisu was delicious. I ordered a sake called Shuraku – Junmai – and enjoyed it with some firefly squid that just came into season, paired with a vinegared miso dressing. For a snack, I had chilled tofu, and I also tried mountain wasabi and tempura of riewasa. That really hit my nose! It was a bit of a busy day, so I enjoyed my sake from my own bottle (laughs) and had a great time.

I heard that there is a branch of Baba Ten in Sapporo as well as in Tokyo, so I decided to visit for my second time. The interior of the restaurant is stylish and fashionable! Since it was Setsubun, the appetizer was a Ehoumaki, which made me very happy. The creative tempuras, like the asparagus with parmesan, were all delicious! Even though it was my second stop, the batter was light enough that I didn't feel weighed down. I've heard that their tea cocktails are a specialty, and since they prepare it right in front of you, I decided to give it a try, but I honestly don't remember much of it... They also have seasonal dishes, and I was really glad to try the firefly squid. There were so many intriguing creative tempura options on the menu that I definitely want to go back again!
