室幌浪人
The restaurant is located just a 10-minute walk from Odori Station in Sapporo, near the east side of Nijo Market, in the Creation East area. The exterior of the shop has a chic, hidden-gem vibe. Upon entering, we were guided to our reserved seats. Today’s meal is a course, so we will have the chef’s selection.
First dish: "Appetizer" - At first glance, it looked like a vinegar dish, but it’s a Japanese-style dashi (soup stock) dish. This was surprisingly delicious right from the start.
Second dish: "Salad" - A substantial salad filled with ham and various vegetables, topped with sesame dressing.
Third dish: "Sashimi" - A selection of seven types of sashimi including tuna, sweet shrimp, mackerel, and bonito. While there is sashimi soy sauce available, salt is served as well, which enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Fourth dish: "Tempura" - Finally, the tempura arrives. It includes eggplant, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, squid, meat-wrapped cheese, lotus root with meat, natto with chikuwa (fish cake), and spicy cod roe. The shrimp, featured in the restaurant’s profile, was especially delicious with its crispy, fragrant coating.
Fifth dish: "Clay Pot Rice" - Just as I was starting to feel full from the tempura, this dish came out. It is packed with beef. The way to enjoy it is to start eating it as is, then on the second serving add some seasoning, and finally, you can add the spicy cod roe tempura and some soup stock for a delightful finish.
Sixth dish: "Dessert" - There were several options to choose from, and I went with the matcha.
The recommended course meal costs 6,800 yen (including tax). While the tempura is a highlight, there are also many varieties of tea available. 😊
