This is "Charcoal Izakaya GARAKU" in Date City, Hokkaido. It is located in the nightlife district of Date, but it is difficult for tourists to find as it is off the main street. The sign outside the restaurant gives a homely feel. Inside, there were two local families dining. The place is run by a couple, giving off a cozy atmosphere. The pork and chicken skewers were delicious with sauce and mustard on the side. The most popular "Makichan's Gyoza" was homemade with each dumpling having a unique shape, and it was juicy and flavorful. It was a good decision to try this local spot with a high local patronage.
