Visited a restaurant for the first time on Tabelog, and it was my 42nd visit of the year. This week has been filled with lots of overtime work, making dinner late every night. Today, I decided to have dinner early since I knew I would be working late again. It was almost 8 PM when I made up my mind, so most regular dining places in Kurayama were already closed. I hadn't had ramen this week, and I was craving it. The only option was getting ramen at an izakaya, and I remembered a place that I had never visited since starting Tabelog over 10 years ago, so I decided to finally give it a try. It's a small establishment called Izakaya Snack Sakura. Even though it's located in a residential area away from the drinking district, they used to serve ramen even after regular snack bars had closed, so I had tried their ramen before. Today, there was only one other customer, a local enjoying a drink. Since I was only there for food, I asked the owner, "Can I have ramen?" and she replied, "Miso, salt, or soy sauce, which one do you prefer?" I chose miso without hesitation. The ramen arrived, and it looked familiar. It had a standard appearance, with a slightly sweet miso flavor and a light broth. I remembered it well. The soup was delicious, with a nice balance of sweet miso and light dashi, enhanced by the richness of lard. The noodles were Sapporo-style, slightly thinner and less curly than Nishiyama's. They had a smooth texture and although they didn't absorb the soup much, they were still good. The vegetables were stir-fried and included minced meat, showing attention to detail. The menma was average, but the ham-like chashu was a bit disappointing. Overall, the ramen exceeded the typical izakaya ramen quality. I couldn't help but finish every last drop of the soup. It was a satisfying meal, and I would definitely want to revisit this place. It could become my oasis during future periods of overtime work. Apologies for not visiting sooner, and thank you for the delicious meal!
