When I got home, I followed the instructions to let them thaw naturally and then microwave them for 10 seconds. The pack contained 8 different flavors: red bean paste, strawberry milk, chocolate, caramel flakes, apple earl grey, melon cream, custard, and plain. The oyaki had a slightly firm and elastic texture with flavored cream inside. They were easy to snack on and not too sweet, so I ended up eating quite a few without realizing it, which can be dangerous for someone trying to watch their weight (like me, always saying I'm on a diet). When heading to tourist spots like Shiretoko, Lake Mashu, or Lake Akan, it is often referred to as the "Town to Pass Through." But in terms of trends, it is the "Town of Curling." And so, in the basement of Parabo, there is a shop called "Kitami Curling Custard," which mainly sells small baked sweets shaped like curling stones. It's called "Curling Custard." Kitami locals have probably tried it at least once. In the past, it was said that 17,000 pieces were sold in one day at a famous department store's Hokkaido product exhibition, but I wonder how many are sold now. ^^; While exploring the food section of Parabo, I passed by a shop selling "oyaki," so I decided to buy one. It's perfect for writing about. The "Curling Oyaki (Cheese)" costs 150 yen. It has a stone-shaped burnt mark on it. The surface of the dough is crispy and fragrant, while the inside is chewy. The cream is sweet, with no strong cheese flavor. There is also chocolate mixed in, and that flavor is stronger. I think the Curling Custard is okay, but this one is a bit... not so great. By the way, the cheese oyaki from Takaman in Obihiro was delicious. (^ー^*)

I bought a souvenir in Kitami! Kitami has been lively with curling-themed snacks since the women's curling team Loco Solare's success. Taking advantage of the trend, Sapporo's Petit Donuts released donuts shaped like curling stones in Kitami! Going along with that, I also bought a souvenir - Curling Custard with 40 pieces for 1,620 yen. This set includes eight different flavors mixed together, so you won't know which flavor you're eating until you try it. It would be nice if they were individually packaged in small bags. My eldest daughter ended up eating only plain ones and was disappointed. The process is fun though. The taste is not bad, so it's a nice treat for a coffee break. Thank you for the meal!

I secretly visited the popular Kitami Curling Custard. I happened to be at Parabo, so I decided to stop by and try it out! Curling Custard is a bite-sized snack similar to bell-shaped castella cake. There are various flavors available, so it seems like a good idea to try a variety of them. I decided to buy a pre-packaged assortment that was already prepared rather than choosing my own flavors, and enjoy them at home. Another thing that caught my eye was the soft serve ice cream! They use Milk Soft from the famous Cream Douwa shop. It's been a while since I enjoyed Cream Douwa's taste in Kitami, maybe since the opening of the Aeon (formerly SATY) store! I was so excited, so I ordered it and enjoyed it on the spot since it couldn't be taken to go. It was delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness and a strong milk flavor! It was topped with a Curling Custard, and the staff suggested eating them together for a delicious combination. However, it was a bit tricky to eat without the custard falling off (laughs). I took a bite of the custard and then a bit of the soft serve until it was all gone. It was so tasty! When I got home, I tried the other custards too! Red bean, chocolate, strawberry, melon, apple, and more... There are so many different flavors available! Each one has a unique taste, making it a fun snack to enjoy. I recommend trying a variety of flavors in the assorted pack, not just your favorite, to experience the different combinations!

While waiting to check in at the hotel, I took a stroll in Parabo. There's a new shop across from the waffle shop on the basement floor. It's called Curling Custard. It's like mini pancakes shaped like curling stones. They also have soft serve ice cream with pancakes. I bought a pack of 16 Curling Custards. They have 8 different flavors, so I got a mix of 2 of each. They also have Curling Soft, which is regular soft serve with a pancake on top. You can choose your own flavor. The soft serve had a nice milky taste and was delicious. It's a good deal at 280 yen for one with a pancake. Even though it's been a while since the Olympics, it would be great to keep such trendy offerings going. They could even decorate with photos or panels of the Olympics.

I'll listen to what they have to say. First, we'll stop by "Curling Soft." The staff there are really nice, not pushy at all. After 5 o'clock, everything is 30% off, and they even let us try Curling Donuts. What's Curling Custard? It's tasty, and Yome-san keeps saying "cute." They're shaped like stones, and there are 24 in a box, which seems like too many. Sorry. I'll have the "Soft Serve" please. It's Curling Soft Serve, and it's only 200 yen instead of 280 yen because of the 30% discount. I'll come back after 5 o'clock. They served it in a cup with Curling Custard on top, which is also "cute." It's rich and heavy, with a bit of crunchiness, but the sweetness is just right and it's delicious. Curling, a sport that became a boom after the women's team won a bronze medal at the Pyeongchang Olympics. At first, I was puzzled by this sport, thinking, "What is this game? Why are they sweeping the floor?" But as I watched, I found it quite interesting, especially the adorable smiles of the Loco Solare players who represented Japan. So, is there a product capitalizing on this trend? Yes, there are small pancake-shaped curling stones with various cream fillings like plain, custard, chocolate, strawberry milk, melon cream, sweet red bean, caramel flakes, and apple earl grey, totaling 8 flavors. I bought a mix of 32 pieces for 1300 yen, but a friendly guy offered it to me for 1200 yen because it was raining. The taste was decent, but will it be chosen for Loco Solare's snack time in the future? There are various cream flavors to choose from, such as chocolate, matcha, and Earl Grey tea. The cream options include custard, chocolate, strawberry milk, melon, caramel, red bean, and apple. All of them were delicious, but my favorites were the red bean/matcha dough, caramel with crunchy bits/plain dough, and apple cream with fruit chunks/Earl Grey dough combinations. Overall, it was delicious with a rating of 4.0 out of 5.

I have been attending a long-running event at Takashimaya since Wednesday, May 15th. Today, I checked out the second half of the event, where they have rearranged the seating and dining areas. It has been years since I last visited Takashimaya, and the layout has changed quite a bit in recent years, making it hard to find my way around. After finally making it to the 7th floor, I stumbled upon this place. They were selling baby castella or baked donuts shaped like curling stones. They were mini-sized, about 3 centimeters in diameter, and came in 8 different flavors. I bought a pack of 16 for 500 yen, as they were on sale for 30% off. They were delicious.

These are casual snacks that you can easily buy. They cost 43 yen each, but the price is more economical when you buy a certain number of them. I tried one and it was delicious, so I decided to buy some. The dough is made from a blend of "Kitahonami" wheat from Hokkaido and 100% Hokkaido milk. And you know what? The snacks are shaped like curling stones! They are bite-sized, but most people will probably eat them in two bites. I went in the early evening on a weekday, so I got a lot of extra snacks. In addition to the classic flavors like plain, chocolate, and custard, they also had strawberry milk, melon cream, red bean paste, apple earl grey, and caramel flake flavors. The mix pack comes with 16 pieces, with 2 of each flavor. Some of them have different dough on the top and bottom. Personally, I like the plain flavor the best. I bought a mixed pack of doughnuts, each shaped like a curling stone and available in eight flavors. My personal favorite was the Yubari Melon Cream. The price was 670 yen for 16 pieces and 700 yen for 17 pieces. "LS Kitami" brought smiles every day during the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Kitami, my second hometown, was a town with nothing but warmth and kindness. The foundation of my support for people with disabilities on Tabelog began in Kitami City. Without living in this town, I don't think I would be where I am today. Kitami is a town that may seem empty but has a welcoming and tolerant community. The success of LS Kitami, led by the bright and cheerful "Jomonko," Yoshida Chinami, and the medal-winning efforts of Fujisawa Satsuki, reflect the town's spirit. The LS Kitami team's achievements continue to bring me joy and relief from my chronic pain.
